Yes, if you have a car matched to you it means the car is either on the boat or already landed in Europe!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,125 ✭✭✭JOL1

That's what it sounds like. Some call it a soft match and usually means that they have identified a car meeting your specifications and have provisionally allocated to you . possibly in transit on a ship. It can happen if someone else ordered and changed their mind etc. The VIN will most likely not be on your account screen, as this is usually the last thing when details are firm...but within the source code there is often details of a VIN, which if present will give you a greater sense of comfort. Try this link

You may be a lucky guy!

I test drove the AWD in Mahon back before I ordered in November. The acceleration on that felt violent, I'd never driven anything like it. This SR+ is definitely not a slow car but you'd notice the 1.7s~ difference.

It worked for me using my Irish phone number, the email associated with my Tesla account and my RN

Ordered White with White interior Aero wheels on 2nd Nov, have VIN in source code, no confirmed delivery date yet but told it should be last two weeks in March

Just got my reg from Tesla, so will be able to tax online in about 24 hrs. Also just Insured car, previous car insurance was on hold for last few weeks since I sold my ID.3. The good news is that there is no increase.(Had previously been told about €30). With Aviva, still at their minimum price of €310.

    Roll on next Wednesday..😊

Has anyone who has collected in the last few days had any issues with panel gaps or paintwork? Maybe they've disappeared with the MIC model?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12 Automat

No issues with panels/paint on my RWD Midnight Silver / 19" Sports collected yesterday.

AMD Ryzen processor, new rear lights cluster, delivered with 28km on clock, 58% charge.

Thanks - I presume this is the experience with the majority but it's good to have it said back to me! I've been pushed back to March 10th but a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.

Echoing Automats response. Nothing wrong at all with mine either!

Smooth pickup today, delighted with the car. Could only find one minor issue - a recessed door handle which has already been scheduled with mobile service.

Collected with 43% state of charge on last years software, but the delivery team are trying to update as many cars as possible before handover

I'm guessing the answer to this is no as it's a Google issue, but is there any way to tell Tesla navigation to stop calling out (and butchering) Irish language street names when navigating? I guess the only solution is turn voice off.

I have never used anything but V11 on my few hours testing, must say I liked it and found it very simple. But can understand anyone coming from an earlier software not liking it. I think a few bits like the Dashcam recording have already been improved.

Best of luck, looks great. I like the way the front number plate has no advertising bar under, pet hate of mine. It follows the grill line, better for my OCD☺️

    Thanks @JDilleen and @dahughes23

Forgot to mention - the delivery team is now warning everyone to charge to 100% asap in order to calibrate the BMS and avoid any range issues getting home

    This article:

    https://medium.com/geekculture/is-teslas-v11-update-bad-design-1af36b13228b

is an insightful take on the V11 design and more generally how design teams often need to clean up existing designs, even when existing users have internalized all the weird swipes and shortcuts (and that these all make complete sense), for the sake of new and future users.

The article does call out V11 as “a mixed bag”, even if broadly supportive of the thinking and effort behind it. We will see updates based on feedback from users.

But, with Tesla aiming for many tens of millions of new owners and rental users over coming years, the existing million+ “early adopters” will have to put with some changes as Tesla try to make it easier for the masses.

Yeah they've brought a few things back like Driver Profiles, and dashcam recording alright, but the 'cards' are the big loss.. a quick swipe and you had your trip data, and a swipe the other way and you had your tyre pressures....

If I had to sum it up I'd say its like how I'd feel having used iPhone/iOS only for 12 years, to then pick up an Android phone and try to figure out how it works right away..... Yeah, eventually you get there, but it's more clicks and more taps to achieve the same result..

The menu bar on the bottom of the screen was the 1 constant in the car for almost 2 years... and then they hid half of it behind a menu..

Since V11 I find my eyes need those extra few split seconds on the screen to make sure I'm doing what I want to do...

For any new owners, it'd be a crying shame not to get a vinyl number plate... at least on the front!!

the stock holder is hideous!! and it's a crying shame to ruin that front end with such a holder.

(I'm also award the blue euro box isn't complete, they sent me out a proper one but I just never put it on yet.. I got some blue sticker and cut out little strips to fill the gap.)

I like the vinyl one on the back, not sure about the front with the curve. Would need to see from the front of car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,632 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

    Here it is front on.

Looks fine as long as it's put on right.. a few have done it and made a balls of it though, so a steady hand is required.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,933 ✭✭✭eagerv

Yes that looks good alright. Probably adds another few km to range as well.☺️

In general, Tesla paint is still soft so you have to be mindful of swirls etc when washing but the quality of the paint finish has significantly increased since MIC came on board.

Panel Gaps have all but disappeared since MIC too. They should be the exception rather than the norm now.

I have never had the spoken instructions on. I don’t need it with the clear large screen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,632 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

I reckon in terms of aero, it's got to be worth at least a few hundred Wh over a long enough drive...

Tesla holder and metal plate weighs about 1 kilo (same on the rear), and this one is mere grams!

I’m toying with doing this on the front or just remove the frame and stick the plate to the underlying holder. For the back I’m going to remove the plate holder and stick the plate directly on to the metal. There is a depression underneath that might show up with the vinyl.
