I saw these being installed at the services in Birdhill on Friday, can't find anything online.

Anyone know any details?

Oh that's a bit out of nowhere and very good to see. They are the same type of rapids Easy Go use.

50kw CCS and Chademo usually.

Would be great to see them rolled out at all Applegreens where possible.

Its a pity they are not mounted like petrol pumps, access able from front and back and sides. I believe these can only charge one car each, but if someone abandons their car you might be able to park on the access road behind and chademo normally disconnects when full, while CCS depend in the car to decide (I think) . They seem very close together. They should at the very least leave room for 2 cars at each charger, if not 4. They don't seem to line up with the spaces, hopefully they will be remarked for EVs with some serious signage to deter ICEing and overstay while charging.

Surely this is just a first venture into private companies charging for electric charging?

I can't imagine this being free by any stretch of the imagination.

No, Ionity and EasyGo already up and running in a few sites around the country.

EasyGo charging in LIDL sites is free for now.

Ionity chargers in Ireland are 8 euro for as much juice as you can get, easygo were variable around 8 to 30 euro, but some are free. Esb will really set the fast charger pricing (in the next month) and all others will have to compete or expect their chargers to be quiet.

Can't see ESB undercutting their own customers. Would surely cause competitiveness issues given ESB networks monopoly.

ESB ecars =/= esb networks, it's a highly regulated company.
Networks won't see the pricing schemes offered to end users

Those chargers are CCS and Chademo... no AC.

In any event, what did the regulator decide re whether the e-cars infra structure would be part of the regulated asset base?

Probably the right decision to be fair. If anything I think the NTA should own them and then contract the operation out to a third party (such as ESB) with SLA's etc.

I'm sure Applegreen wouldn't mind bidding on the ones already at there garages.

The path we're going down it won't matter anyway as hopefully the private enterprises will win out.
Ionity and easygo are already doing better than ecars.

Passed these the other day and topped up, nice that they are still free but tap-to-pay machines were recently installed so not for much longer I'd wager. Be interesting to see their prices when they do come along

That's the way it works at every charging station in England and they get on fine, think it's the law there? It is cheaper at most of them to register for an account etc though

I thought it was only Instavolt, Shell and Gridserve? Most of the others still use RFID cards or apps
