Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Dunne got to 65th.

    Darcy 56th.

    O'Connor Jnr 55th.

    Hoey 74th

    Walton 78th

    Maybin 84th

    Info from Nosferatu on twitter

    Peter Lawrie peaked at 105th.

Of course Christy Senior was before OWGR.

I had actually forgotten Dunne had reached that level.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,781 ✭✭✭Motivator

One Win changes everything. Some 14 year old finished third on the Asian tour the other day and broke into the top 500 in the world. Dunne won the British Masters which had a rake of OWGR points because McIlroy and a few other top 20 players were in it.

Pro-am format is slowing things up big time. 6 holes in 2 hours for Seamus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,637 ✭✭✭joebloggs32

Looks like another week where the winner will need tons of birdies and eagles. Thankfully Seamus has got out of the blocks fast. - 6 with three to play!

    -7 now after 17, T3rd...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,421 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

Great first round. He's in some form :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,781 ✭✭✭Motivator

Another bogey free round of 65 for Seamus. Fantastic round of golf from him but unfortunately I saw none of it. His putter got hot last Sunday, if he finds form with it he’ll win again I’m absolutely convinced of it.

On a side note, the pro-am must be incredibly frustrating for the pros. Imagine being -6 or -7 for your round and trying to stay focused and you’re waiting on Gerry the 20 handicapper to play his 5th shot into the green. 5.5 hours for a round for a professional must be mind numbing.

Was he getting much coverage tonight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭Heighway61

Watched the last two and a half hours on Sky. All they showed of Power was his final 2-put on the 18th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,396 ✭✭✭AyeGer

That's not great, he'd need to be leading to get decent coverage which is a shame.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,823 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

And they'd already shown a leaderboard with his finishing score before that so we knew the birdie putt wasn't dropping. Hate when they do that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭billy3sheets

He's matched the best score on the Nicklaus Tournament Course at -7. Wasn't much coverage of any golfer on that course. I guess trying to cover 3 courses at the same time presents difficulties for whoever is doing the camera work and commentary. He's on the Stadium Course today so might see more of him.

I thought the general coverage last night was awful. Its not Sky's fault as they are just usng the US feed. They seemed to be obsessed with Kizzire, Woodland and Jimmy Walker, none of whom were threatening the top of the board. Woodland and Walker were struggling,

Even Cantlay who was clearly having an amazing round got very little coverage. He was -8 through 8. Show us that! ... No "here is Jimmy Walker still struggling".

Seamus (suddenly an establshed PGA Tour player) had a great round. Delighted for him. He is playing one of the three courses with TourCast tonight so at least we can keep an eye on each of his shots.

Another great, bogey free round. If he can keep this form up win number two will happen sooner rather than later.

    Keep her lit Seamus!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

Interesting what you say about Tourcast. I was wondering why we weren’t seeing it last night for Seamus. Glad to hear it’ll be available on the other courses.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,501 ✭✭✭PabloAndRoy

It's only on the Stadium Course, so tonight we get it but not tomorrow.

Seamus in a featured group from 5:30pm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,840 ✭✭✭Panrich

My sincere apologies on this. It was showing Seamus warming up earlier and it came up underneath about being part of a featured group but it's not on Sky anyway.

Only -1 for the day after 12. Down to T25. Needs a strong finish. Scoring has to be low on these resort coursesm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭The Big Easy

Has the two easier par 5s left, if he gets to double figures, it's no disaster, similar to last week, second round maybe taking the win out of reach, can still have another big week though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭hawkwing

Good finish to keep him in the mix. Yet another round in the 60's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

Yeh, closing with 2 birdies keeps him in touch, at least for a possible high finish. [Updated] 4 shots back and tied 12, only 2 behind T3 is well in the shake-up. Great going again.

Playing the easiest course this evening with a bit of wind could help him climb back up into real contention.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,590 ✭✭✭blue note

    He's going okay so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭Heighway61

He should do a streak down the fairway. Might get some screen time.

-4 after 5 holes! Was joint leader for a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭hawkwing

Pull easy Seamus and give the others a chance!on fire today :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭Icemancometh

    Flying!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

Wow! -6 for the first 6 holes. What a start; hope he can keep it going. We should see plenty of him when the main coverage starts at 8.00

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,829 ✭✭✭hawkwing

No mention on the 6-1 news of course. TV showing Mickelson 23 shots behind Seamus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭The Big Easy

On fire currently, -6 through six and tied for the lead 🔥

    Got a par I think

In trouble on 9 now, might be a double

    Edit: was a bogey

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,840 ✭✭✭Panrich

Just needs to keep it steady now. Two easy par 5's coming up at 11 and 13 so chances to get the round right back on track.

Jesus, the US feed on Sky Sports is wojus. Showing Phil make a par putt on +7 instead of showing some of the leaders. Why don’t they cut over to Wood’s house to ask him how he is getting on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

I think that’s just the pre-8pm coverage, isn’t it. It’s not aiming to (or I think even allowed to) do the normal coverage all focussed on the leaders and stars around the cut.

I’m just starting to realise that. Ooops! Might want to ease up on the cans .

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,840 ✭✭✭Panrich

I'm not sure how much faith you can put in the 'play by play' tab on the pga site but if it's accurate, Seamus has three putted twice in the last three holes (the 9th and 11th).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,396 ✭✭✭AyeGer

Hoge or Power don’t seem to be getting any coverage and them leading, absolutely pathetic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

You’re right. They’ll show Cantlay walking around for 2 mins but not showing anything of the top 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,637 ✭✭✭joebloggs32

Its always the same when an event is played over 2 or 3 different courses. Its a huge feat to even have cameras to cover all the action on one course, so in events like this coverage is mainly restricted to the course where the last round takes place.

A few cameras are sent to the other courses but the reality is that they will generally only capture a few holes at each location.

A lot of people frustrated tonight, but think back to coverage of the first two rounds in the Irish open. Often an Irish pro like Sharvin or Hoey gets a draw in a feature group. No disrespect to either player, but outside of Ireland few would know them, yet on the Thursday and Friday there will be plenty of their shots shown. Same happening tonight on the US feed. Normally a Friday cut sorts out this problem, but no cut until tonight.

We'll be seeing a lot of him tomorrow! It could be a spectacular day for Irish golf.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,590 ✭✭✭blue note

Have they shown anything from him? I turned it off for a long while, but I literally haven't seen a shot from him.
