Mine came back positive, about 30 hours after test. Same symptoms as you, throat was sore for the last 3 days with it.

My wife did an antigen just there, because she couldn't believe she was negative and that went positive quickly! She might need another PCR.

The kids seem fine, negative antigens at the mo.

Was that was put there to stop the telegram alert? I thought that would be for a bot that actually was booking appointments (I'm probably wrong).

All the telegram alert does is tell you when they get released, you still have to go through the steps to book it starting with this page and the captcha. I wouldn't actually use a bot to swallow up healthcare appointments, that's kinda crappy.

In any case, the alerts basically confirm they get released most at 12, some at 12.30 maybe 1 or 2 at 1 am.

I actually got an appointment this morning by being referred by my GP. They said it would take a few days but it actually only took about 24 hrs. After staying up to midnight playing this silly game for 4 nights on the trot.

Also, anyone going for a test be aware you may have to queue outside for a bit. A fella with his two daughters was behind me in the queue today, one of them in gym shorts and the other one in fuzzy slippers. It was snowing and hailing here all last night so I dunno what they were thinking but luckily we were only standing there about 15 minutes.

Hundreds of test available right now for anyone who needs them in Dublin!

Absolutely 0 in Cork. 36 came up at 12:30AM and were gone inside 20 seconds

1st time since before Christmas that I've seen loads like that for Dublin.

They must have finally increased the capacity for testing.

Yes I can see Cork is gone.

    Hi all,

Just wondering what happens with a positive PCR test ?? I find a lot of the information on the HSE site confusing.....

I first showed symptoms Fri 31st Sore throat, blocked nose, I did an antigen test on Sun along with rest of the household (Wife - fully vaccinated & booster along with myself, 14 year old fully vaccinated, 12 year old unvaccinated), I showed positive the others negative. I have been self isolating since Sunday others restricted movements

I got a PCR test for later today, which no doubt will show positive, overall I am lucky my symptoms are not bad.

    Thanks for reading

I thought they had changed it to 7 days isolation from Jan 3rd - if over 7 days from booster

It does say 7 if no symptoms by then so you’re right. 10 is if person still has symptoms.

It says 10 days if no booster. I tested positive late Sunday night the 2nd/early Monday morning the 3rd. So my first day out of isolation would be the 13th, right?

However I am on the rota to go back to work on Tuesday the 11th, I'm guessing my boss thinks the isolation period is 7 days (he knows I haven't had the booster). Not sure what to do.. i still have symptoms currently, especially cough, headache and shortness of breath.

That's only the minimum period + more for people who are asymptomatic or had very mild symptoms.

If your sick your sick and can't go back to work. Just let you boss know your still very unwell + link in with GP if you need an additional cert.

What's the procedure if symptomatic but no access to antigen tests and PCR test negative, yet still not rid of symptoms? Had a booster before Christmas and was sick for a couple of days. Symptoms returned on New Year's Eve and have been continuous since. No home tests anywhere but had a PCR last Wednesday which did not find the virus. Still sore, swollen throat, hoarse voice, feeling lightheaded, easily out of breath and feel like I can't get enough oxygen. All of these are mild symptoms though. The most annoying is smelling this rotten smell when I swallow phlegm.

I guess there's no point taking another PCR? I would test at home but like I said, haven't been able to find home tests.

Shay you need to link in with your GP.

There are other viruses out there, the world doesn't relove around Covid despite what the media would make us believe.

My son had a nasty chest + ear infection before Christmas + I also got the bad chest infection.

We both needed antibiotics. You have a negative PCR so demand to he seen by your GP. They will probably try and fob you off with phone appointment buy font accept it. You could have nasty throat infection etc.

    You've had a negative PCR?

Don't think so, that's only if you had no symptoms or symptoms started after the antigen test.

As I understand it the clock starts from symptoms or positive test, whichever is sooner.

How long is it taking for results to come through?

Loads of tests available in Dublin, first time i've seen that since before xmas, hopefully it means we've peaked.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Is it possible that capacity has been increased?

Rules changed if under 40 you are sent a antigen kit and only if that is positive can you access a PCR, thats a huge chunk of the population when you consider the 35-44 bracket has been the highest (clearly a function of being the parents of school age kids). If you can find a antigen test you can get a PCR

So the blockage is now access to antigen tests

You can book a COVID-19 PCR test online if you:

    • are over 39 and have symptoms of COVID-19
    • are booking for a child who is under 4 who has symptoms of COVID-19
    • had a positive antigen test in the past 24 hours
    • are a healthcare worker

Since when does a national paper take interest in how the virus got into my house on Christmas night?

Apologies I thought you meant the student who travelled from Italy in Feb 2020 as the first case to bring it to Ireland.

on that note however, it’s worth pointing out, a mask simply prevents you spreading covid, it absolutely does not prevent you from catching it, even a little.

masks are only a great tool if everyone wears them for that reason!

Just booked a test in Citywest for a family member - about 50 left for today but you'd want to be quick!

Laboratory capacity is constantly increasing all the time.

Swabbing capacity may depend on staff available at different centres and needing to recruit more at short notice or due to covid absences.
