Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Anyone in Cork area having an issue with their broadband? Mines been off all morning, looks like it's not connecting to the mast.

I've been waiting a long time to post this, digiweb are connecting me next week. How do I go about cancelling imagine?

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,091 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Just call them and cancel - Assuming you are out of contract you need to give them 30 days notice (one billing cycle) so you'll have one more bill potentially.

Not sure if they come to retrieve the kit, but expect that they probably do at some stage..

In today's Sunday Indo, Sean Bolger, Imagine CEO, is stepping down. He remains as a shareholder and non-exec director.

According to the article, Bolger, 57, is stepping down for personal reasons.

Interim CEO will be Steven Cast, from Brookfield, Imagine's majority shareholder.

Has anyone had any luck bridging a second wireless modem (TP Link Archer VR400 in my case) to their Imagine Router (Gemtek wvrtm-130acn)?

I've used my TP Link router with both the standard Vodafone router and the standard Eir router without too much issue. So, when Imagine sales guy (I know?!?) and the installation guys both said that customers have no issue bridging a second modem I assumed all would be ok.

Setup TP Link router as I've done in the past (Bridge mode, turn off DHCP, set IP to one not being used by the Gemtek). Set Gemtek to start assigning IP from 15.10 and used 15.2 for the TP Link IP.

Whether the Gemtek is in Bridge Mode (which you annoyingly have to phone up and ask for) or not, no internet gets to the TP Link (Cat5 is used to connect them).

Feel like I'm missing something simple but as you're so restricted in what you can do with the Gemtek, I just don't know.

Any help or experience anyone has would be brilliant. Thanks in advance.

Any of your routers/access points should be easily able to become a DHCP server, no need for bridge mode at all. Try to disable DHCP in gemtek, enable in tplink, make sure static IPs are outside of the DHCP range (I'm pretty sure you know it already) and try that way.

Edit: 192.168.15.2 is a static IP of the aerial unit. So before you try what I wrote above, just change tplink's IP to, for example, 192.168.15.9

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 christianhughes

Ah I had no idea 15.2 was the roof unit. That may be the issue right there.

The TP unit has to be in bridge mode as far as I am aware or it requires ISP information to be entered, which I obviously won't be doing.

I'll try having the TP do the DHCP work and turn it off on the Imagine unit and see if it helps.

There can't be anything more snarky than imagines data usage warnings. Your no where near reaching your monthly link but they send out these abysmal snarky warnings with threats to cut off. And their average user only uses 5mb over a month.

    Piss off!

They've gotten worse over time on this front. Any single day of high usage and they're straight onto threatening to cut you off. Long for the day NBI saves us from this company.

Alas, no joy with any attempts to connect the devices.

Just kinda given up now and back to having a dead spot in the house. Annoying.

^^ Strange one. It MUST work if set up properly. Try this:

Are imagine still throttling after 20GB usage per day ? I can't see anything about it on the terms and conditions now

Anyone having issues in Cappagh north Kildare mast last night and this morning?

sevive is basically unusable and just love that no support lines open till 9am and I’m trying to get online to work from home!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,464 ✭✭✭rodge123

Figured out myself, looks like uploading a large file causing while network crawl…very frustrating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,238 ✭✭✭mossie

Yeah, that's caused issues for me in the past. Uploading seems to cause the whole system to over load.

  • Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 28,820 Mod ✭✭✭✭oscarBravo

On any connection, filling the upload pipe to capacity will hurt downloads. If you need to keep your connection usable while uploading, you'll need to find a way to restrict the upload speed to less than your connection's upload capacity.

Yeah, those are literally the exact steps I followed but no internet reaches the AP. I just assumed it was Imagine's router preventing it somehow. I've had no issue doing this with Eir or Vodafone.

One more thing came to my mind - are you sure ethernet cable you use is not faulty?

Anyone have any issues with connection after getting them to enable bridge mode?

I had the old equipment which was clapping out for hours on end and they came and replaced it with all new antenna/router and I then asked them to enable bridge mode. Everything goes into my pfSense firewall and looked fine.

But once I started gaming I could see my pings were in the 70/80ms range and I was getting 15-20% packet loss playing PUBG or Rocket League, etc.

Also, with bridge mode I should be able to set pfSense WAN to DHCP but sometimes this does not work and requires rebooting their equipment several times until it does.

    Anyone have similar issues?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Dero

I have the same setup; bridged Imagine CPE -> pfSense, and I haven't experienced either of those issues. I have a static IP, but I still set the WAN to DHCP and it just works. My latency/packet loss has been quite stable for a long time now. It did have serious issues previously during peak hours, but that wouldn't be related to the bridge mode and/or gaming.

  • Registered Users Posts: 107 ✭✭NakQuada

Dero, what's your pfSense setup like? Is it running on a dedicated box or do you have it running in a VM? Got no good of it with Imagine in the end, and they pulled bridge mode and she appears to be back somewhat stable, but I'm back in double NAT land.

I've noticed today that I'm now getting consistent speeds of 170mbps+ which is mad because I never got speeds like that before.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Dero

It's a fairly vanilla pfSense setup with pfBlockerNG. I do have dual WAN for my 3 mobile backup connection and game consoles though, but most stuff goes via Imagine. It is running on an old HP Microserver that I had here. It's probably not the most efficient, but it works. I had it virtualised before, and had no issues other than losing Internet when I took down the VM host.

I have no signal here in Cobh as of 2 pm. Am connected to the Carrigaline mast. Any body else seeing this

Same here in Clare since about 2:30pm.

Tried calling their support. They have a generic message saying "Our engineers have identified an issue that may be effecting your area, they are working to resolve this" without saying what area they are talking about of course.

When I called them, there were 129 people ahead of me in the queue and they claimed the wait time was 58 minutes.. so I didn't bother trying to stay on hold.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,135 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

It seems to be nationwide. Fair play to them.

It's just come back for me on the last few minutes

Based on their Twitter looks like it was a Nationwide outage

What's the username and password to login to the Gemtek WVRTM-130ACN?

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,091 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

    They're all different.

If you call their Tech Support they will give you the login info

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭G1032

Cheers. I've tried every combination imaginable of admin, root, blank etc🙈

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,091 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

You won't get a full "admin" login , they'll give you a sort of super-user login that allows you to change most settings.

But if you wanted to switch it to bridge mode for example , they have to do that for you from their end.

I have, been showing zero usage for about a month now. Not sure what the story with that is

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,091 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Same for me - I show 0.12GB on the 1st of the month and then zero for every day since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,114 ✭✭✭noby

Trying, and failing to map a network drive from the usb port in the router. Do I need to get the login details to complete this?

Are they no longer doing that awful 20 gig/day monitoring? The Imagine portal has no data for May at all ...

I have a big game update and was resigned (read very pissed off) to waiting till after midnight ....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 732 ✭✭✭Dero

Mine seems to have stopped recording on 10/05.

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,091 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

It hasn't worked since early April for me.

They haven't changed the rules at all and based on previous experiences when the tool was broken before, they'll still send you the warning email and stuff despite you having absolutely no way to monitor your usage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,238 ✭✭✭mossie

Anyone having issues with slow speeds over the weekend? Mine have dropped from around 80mbps to less than 20.

  • Registered Users Posts: 222 ✭✭dunleas

My daily usage counters are active again

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,091 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Yeah.. Mine now shows data , but it's a bit all over the place.

They have changed the data for the previous months and it just looks wrong - Like it says I had 640GB of usage in April but only 1.9GB of "Peak" usage which is definitely not right..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,935 ✭✭✭Tazzimus

I've had to keep rebooting the router here the last week or so. Service went from stable to spotty in the last week or two which is annoying when you're trying to work or play a game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,238 ✭✭✭mossie

Yeah, same here. Random dropouts and slow downs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,238 ✭✭✭mossie

Completely down for the last hour here. Just got a text saying they're working on a fault. Maybe that's been causing the issues I've had recently.

Same. Last few days I noticed very high pings - making gaming and even streaming difficult at times.
