Statement of Liability?

Either in late December or early January I normally fill out a form 12(I think with the revenue) online to see have I under or overpaid for the past year.

Is this available yet or do I have to wait until the 1st of January.

Other years from what I remember it was fairly simply.(I think I could be overthinking it.

It's not available yet. The 2021 tax year is still live. You have to wait until January 1st for that option to be available.

Why so much rush? For some it may not be ready yet. And you have plenty of time to finish it. Even if you forget, you can redo 4 years back.

If you had any taxable payments from DSP in 2021, that will delay it a bit.

I could only say good things about Revenue and its system - one of the best comparing to any other Irish governmental institutions. If you owe, do you know your deadline? If it's for 2020, not paid and you are currently employed PAYE, then it will be deducted gradually from a payslip. If not employed, you couldy already do for 2020 nearly all 2021. If it's for 2021, then there is no rush and can wait for a few months at least, in general. So, what is this rush for?

Hi, I saw my preliminary SOL online today and says there’s an overpayment of €5600, no DSP payments were included until after I finished my tax return so weren’t on the preliminary SOL!

my wife has been on maternity leave €6370 and then took 5 weeks parents leave €1225, I can’t get my head around what I’ll get back, we had a similar situation in 2019 when we had our first child except I had 6 weeks of jobseekers and that parents leave wasn’t there then. I got refunded €1500 that year and €1400 last year, that was with herself getting ewss from her workplace.

Yeah I’ve heard there are issues and delays this year with DEASP updating people records with revenue. My prelim report showed an overpayment but it didn’t have my spouses 13 weeks of PUP included on the form and I couldn’t manually enter that. He has to contact DEASP to rectify the record himself 🙄

I reckon once the PUP is included that will reduce my overpayment by approx €900 so I’ll still get a small bit back.

FYI -December’s payroll figures aren’t finalised by mid January. (Statements must be approved by Employers).

Revenue can’t be 100% ready until these are done. Then you got Finance Bill issues and the delay in sharing of info with DSWF.

(Finance Bill - Revenue are more interested in implementing this before 1st Jan rather than worrying about ROS form 11’s and 12’s.)

Glad you like their system. I use it every day in work, it needs serious work. When the system goes down its a disaster.

I want my refund because I want it. I want it soon, does that answer your question or do you want to know what I want to spend it on too?

I did mine yesterday and closed the computer without looking at how much I’m due. Think a few hundred, is there a way to check?

Nope..it says only estimate....it may not be the same number. Now you have to wait untill its processed. Could take anywhere from couple of days to good few weeks.

Submitted our return on the 1st January, still says it is in processing, guess it’s will take a couple of weeks before the statement is issued.

Cousin works in the tax office, won’t get SOL until at the earliest the 17th of January, I redid my tax return this morning as they didn’t have my last weeks wages included in the one I did Sunday night. So it’s all up to date now

I dont think so..... Its automat system...just very small portion gets checked....and the criteria are not disclosed on what base they are being investigated. If they would have to manually checked everyone it would never be processed....

Just in case there is any confusion on the sequence of events. Its preliminary end of year statement, followed by filing a tax return to generate a statement of liability which will result in any refund due issuing.
