I got a great deal on a new M3 Competition so I decided to change. This thing is unreal, still running it in but got three speeding tickets on the first weekend.

Wow. First one I've seen in that colour, looks amazing.

    Are they cheaper in Dubai?!

Its Skyscraper Grey - fully loaded (except Carbon seats), with 5 year warranty and 5 years service included. just need Insurance, Tyres and Petrol, getting around 18MPG but its only done 1400kms. Service due at 2000 kms then I can really open it up.

Its not cheap but I think its a lot cheaper than in Ireland (Damn VRT/VAT) - Was approx €114k - starts at €121k in ireland I think

Tbh I would have expected a much larger difference in price.

Or have I understood that wrong?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,308 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

So would I. I think his figures are off unless he has a tonne of extras and they start at in Ireland is base model.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,894 ✭✭✭✭bear1

    Yeah I thought so too.

That the base starts at 121 and the version he got was 114 which then would make sense. If it's like for like then I'd be seriously surprised.

I just looked up on BMW Ireland website the base model in Ireland starts at just under €126,000

Also reading through his two posts above he said his is fully loaded so fully load one in Ireland and the figures would be a lot higher price in Ireland which is what you would expect here.

Fully loaded M3 here is about €165k for the RWD, around €170k for the X Drive

The car is fully loaded, every option except the Carbon seats, the list of extras is 3 pages. I didn't spec it, I just popped into the showroom and was looking around, saw that car and the colour combo caught my eye.

The dealer handed me the key to an M4 and said go have fun. Drove it for an hour and was hooked. They also gave me a better trade in price than the place I bought my old car.

5 years 100k warranty and service included was also a big factor, my previous car was out of service cover and only had a years warranty left.

Gave the Missus FB's Golf a good clean today after being away down the country in it for a few days. Average consumption over just over 400kms was 3.8 l/100km which is much better than i would have expected.

It's predecessor 162 Golf done around 130k kms in 2.5 years iirc, this one has done less than 25k kms due to WFH and has given no issues due to the low mileage but we have a deal done for a new car/ PCP renewal for January*.

I always park in the same spot. The furthest one away. Even if they were a like minded individual, there was no need in that car park.

Having sold the Cupra a few weeks ago I’d a deposit on a 435i which when I got there wasn’t for me - lovely car but a bit too rough around the edges. Buddy who was with me was selling his car in a garage the same day so with the 435i falling through we’d no way back to Cork…so I bought my old 330d back off him two years to the day later. Had always been sorry I sold it, he’d kept it insanely well and it shows. Already been in for any servicing needed, booked into a retrofit specialist next month for all the bits I never got done last time, really happy to be back in this thing.

Well wear Gus, funny who life plays out at times. Didn't you have a silver or white F30 330d after that for a short time too?

Any plans for it yet? Maybe upgrade the rear lights with the LCI led units? Or maybe the infotainment system with an aftermarket widescreen android system? There are some good options out there now.

Had a white one after this alright. Going aftermarket with the headlights as it’s a lot easier - it’ll look close enough to OEM as to not annoy me. Widescreen NBT is going in along with an original reversing camera after I nearly killed the dog the other evening. White worm needs to be sorted on the wheels too so I’m keeping an eye out for a decent winter set at the moment. Bonus of going backwards means there’s a toy being hunted for now too

It's that time of year again... Where did that bloody year go!

For context, with the same video throughout the years:

    2020

    2019

    2018

    2017

    2016

    2015

    2014

Well that was some journey after figuring out the hyperlinks; I'll probably make a balls of the image links... Wish me luck, I'll need it!

Seeing as most of my classy duds are in repair/not ready/you've seen them already it's time to show you all the backbone of the empire... Mrs Pigeon's daily

Not much to say here, a plush car that's surprisingly easy on the fuel that allows us to hide under the radar. Few issues to sort, mostly cosmetic. I find something like this way too modern for myself, yes you can see me in the 574/flinstone mobile instead... Cost half it's market value and she absolutely loves it!

Later that day... Scrubs up well

I have a photo somewhere of my own E34 in that exact spot 15 years prior to this photo being taken... After I'd let the battery die and the car locked itself! Had to use a big screwdriver and a welding rod to open it... You can also see another backbone to the operation in the background, the Santa Fe and out of shot is it's far superior in every way possible direct replacement... 😉

Who knows what I'll be in next year! Have a good Christmas if I'm not back before then 😀

If it's annoying your neighbour, why not have it quietened? Or you'd rather just be an arsehole?

I've none and it's lashing outside, I'll snap what it looks like at the rear when it stops, twin exits and a new twin exit diffuser.
