In the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, swathes of city-dwellers make their way to mass on roller skates every year on Christmas morning. The tradition is now so well established that many of the city's streets are closed to traffic from 8am, so that the skating congregation can get to church safely.

Yes, @CarrieAnne l I'm 29 and honestly I don't know where the time has gone. It's so strange seeing friends getting married, buying houses, turning 30, etc. I know I'm not old but I've know idea where the time has gone.

It has been claimed that eating the snack is illegal in England, if done so on Christmas Day. The tradition comes from the time of Oliver Cromwell in the 1650s, when mince pies were banned at Christmas, along with other tasty treats. Cromwell wanted to tackle gluttony in England.

Giraffes would find it easier to eat holly than leaves compared to sheep, cows, etc because the leaves that are up high are less prickly.

My last supplies will be here on 16th... IF the weather allows. Being on an offshore island adds a certain dimension.... Frozen turkey of course. They get the fresh in on 22nd but that is too near and too uncertain with the weather

All else is in and stowed away, and my small tree will go up on Sunday.

Love my island Christmas. Peaceful and holy....
