7-Up on Ice was first held in 2002. In the first year more than 90,000 people attended the event in Smithfied. 7-Up became the main sponsor in 2003 and Keith Duffy launched one of Europe's largest outdoor ice rinks.

It last took place in 2009 and it was launched by Jayne Torvill.

Here's a record from 1997. I don't know if the tree is still going.

Every year, Janet Parker of Chippenham, Wiltshire, UK, puts up her Christmas tree, which was purchased - possibly from Woolworths - for her Great Aunt in 1886. Standing 30 cm (12 in) high in an ornate pot, it gets decorated with cherubs and the Virgin Mary.

That's a phenomenal figure of people.... almost half the population of the UK sat down to watch a TV programme at the same time!

Is a real testament to the quality of the show. The writing and acting is top drawer.

Best comedy show ever IMO. I still watch them on Gold/Dave (cant remember which channel has them on repeat constantly 🤣) and get a giggle. My kids still refer to it as 'hookey street' from when I had it on when they were small and they associated the line in the theme song as being the shows name...

Right before Christmas in 2010, people enjoyed a stunning total lunar eclipse. It was the first time since 1638 that an eclipse coincided with winter solstice, making it a historic event.

Elf on the Shelf was written in 2004 by Carol Aebersold and daughter Chanda Bell and illustrated by Coë Steinwart. It was launched in 2005. I didn't realise it was that old.
