After Lara Marlowe, who seemed completely taken aback that, after she left her husband for Robert Fisk, he left her for another woman.

So much so , she wrote the obligatory book about it.

PK still setting the agenda at RTE 8 years after he left it 🙂

I’ll tell you sommit ,pal, neither Ballsy, or Miriam, are presenters I would put down as experts of pronunciation….

Between ‘Nooze’ and “Moi ghasts todai “ …….

    Even a diehard like you could t defend those two……….and there’s more….🤣

He seems to have toned down on the c'mere, listen, c'mere to me nonsense.

    Yeah, no harm there.

In my opinion P this show is rapidly circling the drain, basically one hour on a Sunday before getting some dude on about mental health and then couple of grunts on about upcoming shows.

Looks like it’s been “limited” to when a guest has droned on for a bit too long.

Yep, that's about it. RTE (aka the millionaire factory) have taken the lazy route on pretty much every programme. They do a little bit of work at the start of the season - setting out the format of the show - then stick to that format rigidly. They are uber strict about going to an ad break at the specified time. There could be something/someone interesting on and then 'I'm running out of time so thanks, bye'. Can't think/act on the fly - Total amateurs - it's like a hospital staffed completely by 3rd year medical students...on consultants pay!

A perfect example of the above :- If you listen to Drive Time you know there is the BS slot just before 17.00 hrs. BS banter and fake laughing and generally a load of horse. So, on the day of the massive suicide bombing outside Kabul airport (it was all over every media TV/radio show) I was thinking - 'They can't do the BS slot today, they just can't' Lo and behold, on comes the stupid BS slot. There were people getting power-washed off the ******* walls in Kabul and Cormac is giggling like a spa.

    Idiots!

no offence to 3rd yr med students

Shure didn’t they ruin poor John with the same crap when he had the 9-10 gig.

The 0900 - 0910 ‘ banter’ period……and they try the same on Drivetime.

Anybody who knows anything about radio knew John wasn’t spontaneous.

All you have to do is listen to Sport Sat and Sun… like reading from a copy book.

Took them five years to figure out that.

    spot on Gineral

Brendan speaking to Mary O’Rourke thinking she would say she’s frightened of her life with the current level of cases but she keeps saying that she’s holding back a bit but understands that businesses can’t be closed forever.

He keeps trying to make her say something like she’s very scared etc but she’s being very level-headed about it.

Maybe Miriam could get PK to teach her how to say the word 'genuinely' properly.

Meeeriam can’t even pronounce her own name properly, so it’s a ‘no’ on that.

I think she probably can BB but she chooses to affect her accent.

    Which is even more irritating.

I liked the 1st hour this morning. A fairly even handed discussion and expressing of opinions regarding Covid.

Has this show moved from Radio One to Covid FM ? BOC and his constant scaremongering about Covid and slavishly following the NPHET line is a pain . The only thing this programme has , is the lack of decent opposition . heard a bit of the show yesterday and the interview with Bill Bailey was cringeworthy. asking bailey was " He a national treasure ?" I always thought that was a very British phrase, which is surprising given the usual anti british stance on RTE

Hmmm… think we have one of the biggest increase in infections in Europe since we succumbed to lobbying of the ‘Night Industry’

Surprisingly very little heard from their lobbyists who had more air time on RTE than some of the presenters over the last few months.

'Succumbing' to NPHET and nonsense lockdowns has been the problem all along.

And tell us what your qualifications in Pandemic Medical Management are?

I have more common sense than a 4 year old, so that would rule me right out of a role in NPHET, I agree with you there.

Great…. No qualifications….. keep on sledding dude.

BOC is a national disgrace, could be auditioning for Pravda the way he carries on.

That interview with BB was appalling. Face off between two steely ambitious career non-comedians who refused to be the performing monkey for the other. But both dying to be openly vulnerable to discuss mental health (or weight!) issues. It's more entertaining hearing BOC ensure there's "balance" in the Covid conversations. Ha ha!

What is the fcuking point of one minute of bells at 12 and 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,064 ✭✭✭Shelga

I turn it off for those minutes, can’t bear the sound of the Angelus and its religious Catholic connotations. Also don’t listen on RTÉ radio player anymore as the ads make it unusable.

Enjoying the show today well enough though!

They should find a mirror up there in montrose and have a good look into it and they may find some answers to the deteriorating mental state of some of the populace with the constant diet of doom and gloom and misery, morn, noon and night on the national broadcaster. Its enough to drive one to the river or the rope if one were to live on a media diet served up by the national broadcaster and take them even half seriously

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,059 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    True.

RTe are actually creating the need for mental health services and all this mindfulness rubbish.

I dunno, they can’t seem to win. A few years ago ‘no one is talking about mental health’ now it’s too much mental health talk.

And as for mindfulness, well, that’s something a few on here could do with getting “into”.

And now more often than not, no report from any BOC fan about any morsels of wisdom dispensed on Sunday's show.

If such a thing as a BOC fan does exist you most likely will not find them hanging out here.
