I never understand these 'no return to normal' or 'normal life is years away' posts. Sensible countries like Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland have all returned to normal (or are soon to). Sweden never left normal. While idiotic countries like Ireland are either returning to 'a new normal' or 'never returning to normal'.

The Twitter account is irrelevant. The point is that WHO changed their previous definition of herd immunity.

The vast majority of the the unvaccinated are children under 12 who can't be vaccinated. The unvaccinated are just a bogeyman.

So in one day we now have three different blame candidates.

    Builders, children and the foreigners.

    Is this a record?

Possibly tied with people who went to Cheltenham, school tours to Italy and Italian rugby fans in March 2020.

Unless they are numerically illiterate the only posters I see attempting to distract the gullible are those writing reams trying to avoid the elephant in the room. What is it you are failing to get with your 50 50 percent split on ICU`s.

Does it not clearly show that 50% of those in ICU are from the 8% unvaccinated while the other 50% are from the 92% vaccinated ?

Restrictions need to be brought back in for non essential venues like pubs and especially nightclubs

madness to leave them open freely with ppl scuttered drunk or off their rocker on a cocktail of drugs and of course distancing goes by the way side

Haven't you posted this verbatim a few times now over the last few days?

Nobody replied or cared then so I doubt they will now.

Covid will be another cold, possibly as early as the first half of next year. The symptoms of Covid are the same as other human coronaviruses just more severe on average. This is because it’s novel. It’s no longer novel where everyone is vaccinated and/or infected. At that point, on average, symptoms will be similar to other human coronaviruses on average. Some people will still die, just like other human coronaviruses. You can already see that in the shift in symptom distribution and reduction in death rates around the world.

Luke O'Neill didn't say it. He was quoting from an article that had it as it's headline. When you actually read the article it becomes clear that the headline was misleading.

This, exactly this. Get through this winter and Covid will fade into the distance in the publics mind. It'll still be around (like all the different influenzas) but it wont be an impact on the majority of peoples lives.

They aren't, in mathematical terms, rising exponentially.

Having recently to dig through statistics to show you you were incorrect on Sweden I really do not feel the inclination to do the same again. Especially when you were to get back to me on those statistics which you have failed to do, (something that is more or less the default reply in the CT but is now happening here on a regular basis), plus I seed to recall your question already being asked and replied too.

So why don`t you answer a question. If the rise in those hospitalised and in ICU is due to vaccines waning, how come the huge disparity between those vaccinated and those not so in relation to the percentage of the population they represent. Does it not show that your chances of being hospitalised or requiring ICU treatment are greatly diminished by being vaccinated ?

It’s quite clear now that you’ve got a major chip on your shoulder about pubs and clubs. Do you just hate seeing other people enjoying themselves? You and Tony would get on famously.

Newstalk have found a new group to blame. Talking on the drivetime show about people on public transport not wearing masks or wearing them wrong. True to form loads of self-righteous pricks texting in clutching their pearls about the horrors they had witnessed. And around and around we go……

You're talking about a virus with a 99%+ recovery rate, not Ebola 🤣

Great plan you got there; burn down the village to save it 🤣🤡

Going to be long queue's at the bar of nightclubs

I actually laughed out loud when I read a 1 metre distance for each person queing for a drink at a night club.

Whatever happened to the spread being purely down to people having outdoor pints? Did they ever get to the bottom of that?

Or people queuing up for fish and chips? Or meat packing facilities?

    Or house parties?

There always seems to be somebody to blame.

I thought a one way system for the toilets was kind of mad. Still trying to work that one out.

When was Tony Holohan last in a nightclub?

I’m guessing it was Nightowls in Ranelagh in the late 80s.

Hard to see how this rule is workable at full capacity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,029 ✭✭✭giveitholly

And staff have to manage to queue to make sure everyone is 1 metre apart🤦

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,577 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

It isn't and wasn't last weekend.

It was already in the guidelines for reopening last weekend and I can safely say the queue in the nightclub I was in was a few deep at the bar. Seemed to be the same elsewhere to.

    Vitamin C/D

    Convalescent plasma

    lactoferrin

    Quercetin

    ozone therapy

    adenosine

    Ivermectin

    chloroquine

    Other cortisone /steroid

All treatments/therapies that could resolve the problem of hospitalization/ICU if properly administered to the public and if we educated the GP to prescribe them. But no, all we want is vaccination, and if that fails to protect us, it may be the last thing we have done in your life: how come nobody is questioning this? Are we sure the hospital/doctors have done everything possible to preserve the life of the deceased, or they were just instructed to follow what was already planned since the beginning? If I was hospitalized or if I had a relative in that situation I would require to at least try one or some of the above treatment. Is anybody able to confirm what is actually happening if you are hospitalized for covid?

Well if you are hospitalised you will be delighted to hear you will receive proper medical attention from doctors that didn’t get their certs through Facebook

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 936 ✭✭✭darconio

Could you give me a specific example of the proper treatment/attention? Because placing somebody on a ventilator it should be the last resource.

I just can’t see them remaining open by the time we get to December given our current trajectory.
