Mod - this whole thread has become a conspiracy theory circle jerk and honestly its tiring to read, not to mention the massive amount of reports its generating.

Discuss this stuff to your hearts content **IN THE CT FORUM**

This thread is going to be closed if it doesnt get back on topic, fast

There have been cyber attacks since computers became mainstream. They can't predict something that has already happened.

Tony simply said in his letter that restrictions should be kept in hospitality settings... NPHET made no mention of what those restrictions should be though... Our elected officials are making up the nightclub tickets

It's the 500 people in our hospital system with the same disease that NPHET are concerned about.

I'm sure it's also going through their heads that a lockdown, ie their favoured weapon, would not give the desired outcome

Even if you could frame it as not a CT (it is a CT) it's absolutely nothing to do with relaxation of COVID restrictions.

Why did WEF produce the video and make it public? What are they hoping to get out of it? Please don't answer because you can't and to do so would completely unravel within nanoseconds because it's a loony conspiracy theory which you can't backup to even a small level on any thread and continue running between threads posting such cr*p until inevitably the posts get deleted because they're not on topic or just get more and more loony.

The UK did a dry run of the pandemic in 2016. Big deal.

The discussion has been shut down. Time to move on and talk about the restrictions that are never lifted.

Your same source random website proves nothing. Just words.

Back on topic, you say restrictions will be over soon. Unless there is huge push-back, the pass will be still here in a year and you'll be saying "but, cases.."

Except all those restrictions that have been lifted?

Barely even half lifted. Anywhere that reopened reopened with restrictions. In fact, the restrictions are increasing all the time. People going to clubs have to buy a ticket, show their pass, wear a mask, and socially distance (when not dancing).

90%+ vaccination rate and still masks, social distancing, nightclub ticketing/track&trace, other nonsensical restrictions and the ever-present threats of more.

Most importantly, however, is that there should be no "vaccine passports" in our society. You must comply with vaccination programmes if you want to sit down in a cafe... Really?

    Lithuania is our warning.

Back to this “ticketing” malarkey. How is this not just a bald faced attempt by the government to make going to a nightclub as awkward and off putting as possible to dissuade people from going?

We already have a system so no surprise to see it extended. Again this was suggested here more than once quite a few weeks ago. The made up nature of it is because they came at it far too late. Martin should have flagged the possibility of this at the beginning of October, time enough to figure out a plan if needed.

Compare the end of March 2020 and now. Barely even half-lifted? Hilarious.

sure many have been lifted which is a good thing.

But during their lifting the covid pass has been introduced and in my view that is the most draconian of them all.

It is almost a proxy to coerce people to take a vaccine by punishing those who do not.

Will the covid pass end? or will it morph into some ID scheme or (as suggested online) a form of social credit score. Which in some way it is already as the bad citizens are excluded from sitting indoors in many setting and kept apart from their fellow citizens.

They stopped punching you in the face only to kick you in the balls - if i was to quick think a crude analogy .

Granted many irish people don't care much for civil liberties and once their needs are met - circus and games stuff - such notions are irrelevant.

They were due to cease on the 22nd of October until NPHET stuck the oar in. They're a temporary measure. I've already predicted that they'll be done with next spring. Fingers crossed.

Regarding the Covid cert...I've been voting with my feet. I'm not entering any premises that checks them. Cutting off my nose to spite my face? Maybe. I completely disagree with them. 90+% vaccinated. The chances are, most people in any one place will either be vaccinated or have recovered...or both.

To follow up on my own post.

Went to a nightclub bank holiday Sunday night. Only 2 differences from pre covid, masks on the way in and checked the cert.

Apart from that once your inside it's business as usual, queues a few deep at the bar, everyone having a good time.

Great bank holiday weekend all round.

In fairness you've already predicted they'd be done away with by October! Many people have, but equally many people saw that they were going to stay, and that the theatrical "oh no we cant open up... unless we continue with all these vaccine passports & other restrictions" was going to happen.

It was so predictable its almost pathetic, as are the public's almost choreographed response: Shock at the threat of restrictions, then relief at a "compromise" that is worse than what we would have originally got (and should have got)

We have 90%+ vaccinated for a virus with a 99.97% recovery rate, that has been circulating in our population for nearly two years and, if the experts are to be believed, we can’t lift all restrictions and may need to reintroduce further restrictions in the future.

So my question is simple, if we can’t relax all restrictions now, when will we ever be able to?

When we can be fairly confident the hospitals won't be overrun.

No, that wasn't a prediction. That's what we were told. That's what should have happened. It should have happened weeks earlier IMHO.

Which will be never because our hospitals can’t cope with 93 people in ICU.

Coping just. 93 in ICU now. Take a look at our ICU capacity.

    So they are coping.

Why say something when you know it's wrong.

Care to comment on my point that we will never be able to lift restrictions because our pathetic health service can barely cope with 93 in ICU?

    So defeatist.

Fortunately not everyone is moaning on boards.ie like us so things will change going forward haha

Anyway have to say had a great Bank Holiday weekend. The change the vaccine has made is unbelievable. Was like pre covid times. My good wishes to the scientists!
