Black History Month Ireland, why?

I see RTÉ have launched a black history month for Ireland to chart the contributions of Afro-Irish to the history of this island. I like the idea of charting contemporary history and I think it is important to not overlook the stories of people from non-Irish backgrounds. On their webpage they mention various stories about figures like Christine Buckley and Pamela Uba. There is also a six page show? However, why do we specifically do we have a history month for the 1-2% of the population of African ancestry? Why no Polish history month or Brazilian history month? Isn't it a left field? Given the community was in the hundreds until about 1995, is there really enough history for an entire month? Indeed, they are already covering world history like Frederic Douglass? Also I would have thought this history, the likes of Paul McGrath and Phil Lynott would be fairly well known.

I’m a big fan of Countdown. One week last month, it was hosted by Sir Trevor MacDonald and all contestants and dictionary corner were people of colour. I thought it a bit racist. We should be encouraging inclusivity and not division.

You do know you're not obligated to take part? Go start a movement for the Polish, Or Brazilians or whoever else you think deserves recognition.

I swear you guys must have a rota of posting threads about things that p*sses you all off about someone else getting a bit of attention or improvement in their life. It gives the phrase 'the perpetually outraged' a whole new meaning. And you describe people on the left who support such things as SJW/Woke/virtue signallers etc. At least when they support helping someone or lifting something up. All regressives can do is complain and try desperately to hold on to a status quo that they are comfortable with.

RTÉ is not a private broadcaster and they have obligations to balance because we are paying for this. Are you uncomfortable with the status quo? What is wrong with interrogating ideas?

The left / "progressives" are some of the most prejudiced people in modern society.

It's just that they do it in a way that's more patronizing rather than outright in your face discriminatory. But one way or another, they never fail to tirelessly highlight the differences between everybody and sow the seeds of division.

I agree with someone like Morgan Freeman, just stop talking about it. But the left would hate if everyone did that, as then they wouldn't be able to play their silly little games with society!
