I'm surprised, generally the phone service was alright for me, although it seems they've got a single Italian dude answering all the calls

You're right about the discount being applied to the next month's bill. So there's a bit of a delay and it can happen that your next month's bill goes negative

How do you know the Italian dude is single?

    Hi Folks

Have another quick question - ID3 Tour can anyone tell me what they had in the tyre repair department? The toolkit in the back has some space missing so it looks like some of the pieces could be missing but not sure. The manual also says the car has a compressor and air can but these were not in the car, I know they could be country specific but just wondering what the Irish spec should have had in it.

Just an heads up on the travel assist mode driving lane 1 northbound N7 near the new slip road to the Kerry building at naas - car reads the speed limit on the slip road and breaks very suddenly could be quite dangerous.

This raises an interesting question re using then car as backup in a power cut for say the router.

Have done it before with the leaf which has a foot brake so you can leave it in P, ready to drive.

The ID3 seems to require you to have foot on brake or else press the electronic foot brake to keep it from rolling away so may not be possible to leave like the leaf on a sloping driveway

As far as i know irish cars have no tyre repair items. My id.3 has nothing. Have 3 yr recovery. would prefer spare wheel.

Think I'd rather disable that speed limit recognition anyway, it would be good if there was an option to recognise the limit and add whatever kms you want to actually drive over that, for instance, 110-115 Km/hr on the N7 if it's not too busy or 130 on the motorway other than that speed limit recognition would be very irritating I think.

Not sure about the travel assist (Don't have it) but the standard speed limit recognition does have the option to set above the limit. I have it set at +5kmh.

I've driven plenty cars with driving assist and lane assist, and this has to be my worst experience, I've done nearly 10k in my ID3 now, I love everything about it, but I despise the lane assistance.

We got back into Dublin airport last week and started the long trip to Cork in the pissing rain, southbound on the M8 in the over taking lane in heavy rain, the car starts bouncing between both lines, and this lasted 3 or 4 seconds.

This felt ridiculously dangerous, does rain affect these sensors? I know I can turn it off, but surely these things are supposed to be safer?

If you've the cheaper lane assist it only bounces you between the lines. The more expensive option keeps you in the centre of the lane.

I can’t get scheduled charging to work on the my energi app

I had it set to charge from 4am for two hours in eco + mode. and when I came out at 6 the battery light was red. On both car and zappi. had 78% charge so was fine still but I need to be able to do this reliably when our meter is changed

    what am I doing wrong?

I wouldnt even be using cruise control in heavy rain, never mind lane assist on any car. Look at all the warnings in the manual, they are there for a reason. These systems are not fool proof by any stretch and most of the hidden bugs/unexpected behaviour are in adverse conditions.

I think the VW lane assist bounces between the lines alot in general compared to others

fits, would it be possible that you've set the charging limit to 80% on your car?

Are you certain the app is communicating with the Zappi?

You can set the timer manually on the Zappi without using the app. I have the app but have set timers in the past directly on the Zappi itself. I presume if you set through the app you should also see those timers on the Zappi as well, so probably worth checking.

Are the Hub/Zappi/App using the latest firmware?

Also make sure you have nothing set up re scheduled charging in the ID.3 as it doesn't work.

Did it charge at all? You should be able to see the charge history in the Zappi?

I had a couple of false starts with mine, it seems like the car doesn't like it if the charge starts and then stops. I'd been using boost to get the car up to a certain charge and then leaving it run overnight

Leaving it to the schedule seems to work better

I was using the Travel Assist on the M1 Southbound in some very heavy showers, visibility was right down to a few meters

Gotta say, the system was bulletproof, it had a better fix on the cars around me than I did

You're right to recommend caution, it's certainly better to slow down and pay attention. But personally I'm happy to have the assistance systems backing me up in poor weather

I didn't get any tyre repair equipment, I think the tyres have puncture protection which means they won't give you a tyre kit

I'd get one of my own personally

I've hit that same speed limit issue on the N7, it's a bit of a surprise if you're unprepared for it. I think it might be a mapping problem because I haven't hit it anywhere else

Nope it was set to 90%. I had charged to 80 but preheating brought it down 2%

I don't have the tour, but my 1st has a compressor and tin of gunk. Don't think my Goodyear tyres are self sealing or run flat.

Yes it seems to be communicating fine. So it should work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,058 ✭✭✭✭fits

it didn’t charge at all. Sounds like we are having similar issues.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,854 ✭✭✭✭silverharp

its only happened twice but get into the car and it doesnt recognise the key, after flustering around for a minute got out closed the door and got back in again and it was fine, anything you can do in the car?

There was an issue a while back where the car would go into some sort of deep sleep mode if it charged for less than 30 mins and wouldn't wake up. I increased the manual boost amount to 10kWh to get around this, although the issues should be fixed now

I also updated to the latest Zappi software, I'm now on V3.139

It was to fix some issues with load sharing, but since then I haven't had any failed charges so it might have helped there as well

I suspect load sharing might be at play here. We have a heat pump and induction hob.

Ours is v3.103. Might see about updating it.

Thats a bit of a balls I must say - I would have plenty of occasions sitting the the Leaf when waiting for people or the like, and let the car "on" while listening the to the radio etc to make sure the 12V isn't getting drained.

Zappi charging schedules can be quite complicated, did you go in to the menu and set the timer and days of the week on the zappi itself + hrs to charge ?

then you set it to eco plus and have the slider thing to 100% forget exactly.

The pulsar plus is dead easy to use.

This what my app looks like - you should see a clock symbol next to Scheduled to indicate that it is set. With these settings, when I plug in before the scheduled time, the Zappi light turns purple. Charge light on ID.3 lights green at 11pm.

I added the second schedule (7-10am) in case I need to reconnect for heating the car- not sure if that's required.

v3.142 is the latest, I'm on 3.123 and haven't had any problems with it.

There's a whole thread on MyEnergi forums about problems some people are having with VW ID cars
