I think its down to the delta wave and the studio not being sure if they will get people going to the cinema in the US

Seems they were toying with it delaying it to January as well. Crazy. The film was originally supposed to be released in Oct 2020. I assume the UK/Irish release is unaffected?

After the poor box office of The Suicide Squad and Black Widow they just want to wait it out.

Yeah two weeks is a uselessly short delay if Delta is their true motivation here. And it would be weird if that isn’t their motivation, as they’re just pushing it into a busy October for releases.

Black Widow did great considering people could have stayed at home and torrented it instead.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the first batch of ‘no simultaneous online release’ superhero films do. Can’t judge anything from Black Widow or The Suicide Squad as they’re online in 4K simultaneously.

Hard to tell, I'd say sometime between September and October. Some films do release early here compared to the US.

Looks like it's delayed again, also they must have given up on Morbius since they are pushing it back again

Man, Morbius is going to tank so hard when it eventually comes out. That film gives no impression the studio has any faith in it whatsoever.

I can see Sony hyping Morbius as an MCU crossover when it does get a release using Michael Keaton as a focal point even if he only has a small screen time.

It'll be very hard to hype Keaton enough that people will forget its a movie starring the actor that was widely regarded as the worst Joker ever.

One bad rule hardly defines an actor, so For argument sake alot of ppl regarded Ben affleck as the worst batman ever.. Does that mean people will never go to a Ben affleck movie again?

    This too shall pass.

Off topic, but I personally loved affleck as batman, and moreso bruce wayne, old, tired, and beyond giving a feck about petty criminals.

That scene at the beginning of BvS where he found the girl in the rubble, while the two Demigods of Supes and Zod battled it out laying waste to the city overhead was one of my favourite in the cinematic DCU. the way he looks skyward, and frowns, you know hes already starting to plot how to take them down.

I'm hugely biased against the man and own it, but Morbius may go some way to demonstrate if Jared Leto is Star enough to entice for what's a relatively unknown, side character within a much more interesting world. IIRC, generally he has acted as second fiddle, or part of a larger ensemble. His Joker was awful but wouldn't say that's the silver bullet for audiences either way.

Still on track for October release, the report on a delay was debunked the following day, forgot to post about it

That is one hideous poster 😄

There is barely any distinction between Venom and Carnage up top and I'm generally not a fan of the whole "floating heads" approach to posters these days. The wildly different lighting sources on their faces make the composition look extremely amateurish and Michelle looks like shes was literally just copy/pasted in from the poster for the first movie......Bizarre effort on the part of their marketing team 🤨

Affleck was a good Bruce Wayne, he just was directed by the wrong set of writers and directors. And possibly came at the wrong time in his life, personally. Didn't his alcoholism kick off majorly during this period?

The back tattoo came along during that time anyway.

Got excited for this at the weekend only to realise Ireland still aren't getting it for another 2 weeks!

Ben Affleck was probably the best looking Batman in terms of his build and the suit which is straight out of the comics. I was surpised to learn he was wearing a wig as well; his hair was on point. Unfortunately, he wasn't playing Bruce Wayne or Batman in BvS, he was playing Lex Luthor while Jesse Eisenberg was playing The Riddler.

Anyway, I heard Carnage is being better received than the first one. I think people now know exactly what they're getting into with this which is schlocky fun so the sniffiness won't fly this time. You either embrace a film like this or admit it's not for you and move on.

Which is madness. We should be beyond territorial release dates by now. Global release , day and date or forget it.

Spoilers all over the place online. I know it would have run up against Bond here, so I get the delay.

    Its just very very frustrating.

If the rumours are through about the post credit scene. Wow **** wow, Venom in the MCU

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

To add context to the above post it is about a rumour about the stinger at the end of the movie.
