Perez completed yet another pass. Great to see.

Bottas has been told he is defending for the win.

Think we all know what that really means.

    Yes!!!

Good to see Bottas bothered to defend against Hamilton and instead let him through.

Guy is a loser, always has been. Far more interested in being submissive and facilitating other drivers than actually finishing as high as he can. He should have stood up for himself, but he never has.

Good look with Alfa Romeo having a certified looser as their team leader next year. Have to feel sorry for whoever his team-mate is next year who has someone who doesn't have any fight who is senior.

He is the number two and it is a team sport. What do you expect?

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 11,586 Mod ✭✭✭✭devnull

The team couldn't give a damn about him, he could have decided that since he is getting dropped, today he would do what is best for his future.

Instead when push comes to shove, you always know with Bottas, that he has no backbone. At least Rosberg wasn't so submissive.

If Merc have any sense they'll have Bottas go quick so he'll be in front again after the next stops. He's safe for 3rd anyway so running long to the end is of little benefit.

Well he is predictable if nothing else. No wonder Hamilton wanted to retain him. I don’t expect Russel to be so submissive. That will be interesting. We will then see Hamilton’s true ability.

Mercedes really have zero sense of decency or sportsmanship. It’s always been a team sport and teams have always let the lead driver through when required, but I can’t think of any situation, whether Massa or Rubens or whoever, where the team so routinely sacrificed the number 2 driver entirely at the altar of interfering with their rivals and avoiding a fair fight.

    Hamilton jumps in,

It is hard to know what to believe with all these mind games on the radio.

If Mercedes wanted to give Bottas a chance of winning this race they’d have put him on Hards, so he could go to the end, rather than Mediums for pace to interfere with Max.

So Max has came out good with that one,

Other than being on hard tyres.

Merc bad time to pit there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

That's what I'm saying about the radio mind games,

redbull telling Max to cane it as they are going to pit him, then Mercedes rolled the dice to try and benefit from an undercut.

Lewis not happy coming out into traffic, but there is still the tyre issue - Max already asking questions about the Hard compound and the answer was it is a decent tyre on the Ferrari

There is a risk that Mercedes will have a pace advantage on the mediums. Hopefully the hard will come good towards the end of the race.

More of the Mercedes mind games.

Lewis not happy with the tyre choice.

Yep both have been at it all race with the mind games.

Lewis does sound pissed off now though.

    He's such a whine Lewis.

Will have to listen to him cry on the radio for the rest of the race

Durability over speed which sounds like a good call. Hamilton not happy with the tyre strategy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,064 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Wouldn't be a F1 weekend without Hamilton complaining about his tyres while putting in fastest laps.

I don’t understand why people believe Lewis when he rolls out the “we won’t be able to make it to the end” line. He’s doing fastest laps.

It might be like the boy that “cried wolf” and this is the one time Hamilton is actually telling the truth.

Normally I don’t believe anything he says.

He is maintaining that 3 second gap.

Whoever is the tv race director is doing a great job today. we are seeing action from all through the field.

Don't think anyone believes it at this stage. He's like the boy who cried wolf in every single race about his tyres.
