Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Round 1

    Amadeus (1984)

    VS

    28 Days Later (2002)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭PogoRach

28 Days Later ; the simple colour scheme with the big emphasis on red is really effective...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭davetherave

28 days later. The white on the red is very clear. Biohazard symbol means bad stuff happening. The tagline ties it in well The days are numbered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Going by post along, 28 days later would the movie I would choose to watch.

Though Amadeus is the better movie having watched both.

    28 days gets my vote

28 days later, makes you want to know.

  • Registered Users Posts: 779 ✭✭✭ChannelNo5

Amadeus i guess. Not grabbed by either of these. Still hurting over the elimination of the Rocketeer. Think it would have blown both of these out.

Disaster strikes for Amadeus as 28 Days Later slots into Round 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

We're back at it now in a minute or two with a military inspired combo.

House on Haunted Hill. Pretty wacky stuff

I like TMNT, but House on Haunted Hill has to get it. So much oddness going on.

House on Haunted Hill puts the slimeballs back into the sewers.

    Round 1

    Snatch (2000)

    VS

    Escape From New York (1981)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,617 ✭✭✭Mehaffey1

Escape from New York, looks very modern for 1981, love the look of big famous bits of architecture in ruins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,411 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    Escape From New York

How hard did something hit the Statue of Liberty for the head to land in Manhattan? 😋

    Quiet here... such a shame

Escape from NY - draws me to the movie more than the other - so more of a successful poster

    Escape From New York (1981)

The statue of liberty's head in the middle of new york city is class

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Escape from ny. Overrated movie but such an awesome poster.

    Round 1

    Secretary (2002)

    VS

    L.A. Confidential (1997)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Purgative

Secretary - it foretells the film more - IMHO of course

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

LA Confidential because it has noir written all over it. I think the Secretary one doesn't really say much about the film, unless you'd already seen it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭davetherave

LA Confidential. Both posters are very busy with taglines and cast/crew so just have to judge them on the aesthetics of the photo.

I agree with LA Confidential because of the noir vibe it gives off. Secretary looks a bit cluttered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Neither are great but as a fan of film noir, or in this case neo noir, I'd have to go with LA con. I would say Basinger has too much real estate in it, not that I'm complaining too much mind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

LA Confidential is our first winner of the day. Let's see what's next.

    Round 1

    The Truman Show (1998)

    VS

    The Blair Witch Project (1999)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭PogoRach

The Blair Witch Project ; crap film, but the posters decent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

    Blair witch please.

Neither are great and can't see them going very far

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

The Truman Show because I can't see up his nostrils.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭davetherave

Blair Witch Project. Sets the vibe for the spooks

    Round 1

    Green Room (2015)

    VS

    The Green Mile (1999)

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Green Room, much more eye catching. The Green Mile is just Hanks front and centre, doesn't really say much about the film.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭PogoRach

Green Room ; mich more eye catching a poster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

Green Room comes out on top

    Round 1

    30 Days of Night (2007)

    VS

    Office Space (1999)

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Both of these are really good, and I'd nearly be tempted to vote against my nomination, but I'm going with Office Space as it really captures the mood of the film, and something most of us experience. And also the competition needs more lighthearted movies in it as horror movies seem to be dominating so far, I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭PogoRach

Office Space ; fantastic poster for a fantastic film

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Not seen the movie but office space looks more original.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

    Office Space wins
