Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Apocalypse Now (1979

Amazing miles better of the two and what a class film too.

Miami connection poster does absolutely nothing for me

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,786 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

Apocalypse now. That poster is class.

Glad to see you are back Omack.

Apocalypse Now ; I've seen that Miami Connection poster loads of times and never really copped before that there are stills from the movie in the letters because ultimately the poster doesn't grab your attention enough to warrant a second glance. Apocalypse Now draws you in more and the font style for the film title is devine.

At first glance I dismissed Miami Connection as looking like a cheap holiday brochure but I think that's deliberate, and when you zoom in to the images in the letters it's quite interesting. I'm torn now

I think I'll vote Miami Connection

Apocalypse Now is iconic, but is a little cluttered, I think it could be much better

    Apocolypse Now - iconic

    Apocalypse Now (1979)

Love the film and love the poster too

The end is not nigh for Apocalypse Now, it moves on to Round 2

    Round 1

    The Shining (1980)

    VS

    E.T The Extra Terrestrial (1982)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,786 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

    Aaaaagh! So hard.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

    E.T The Extra Terrestrial (1982)

Tough choice but ET poster is one of the most iconic images in movie history

E.T The Extra Terrestrial ; tough call, but I'd be more inclined to hang a framed poster of this in my house as artwork than I would of The Shining, so it gets my vote

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,366 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Tough one, but vote ET, it's beautiful

Also, despite being so famous, I don't think that image is that representative of The Shining

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭ari101

ET please for the magical mystery it creates :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Purgative

It is. Its difficult (for me) to keep separating that I liked the film.

The Shining - it lays that future menace in the film out, whereas ET, yes its a scene from the film but it could equally be Mary Poppins or some such.

Great to see a game back on the forums!

That's a tough choice as The Shining is one of my favourites and I didn't like E.T

I vote E.T. The scale of the moon and the oddness and intrigue of it all is fantastic.

Never seen the shining so the poster means nothing to me,

But e.t. brings back so many memories of the old cinema in Carlow.

    Toughest one yet, but ET.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

ET rides on into the next stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Both iconic and although I never saw it, will have to pick ET

Ps. Think I nominated the Miami Connection but it was this poster which surely would have won that match.

    Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Tiffanys, gotta love the posters from that era.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Breakfast At Tiffany's ; nice and colourful, stands out if you were walking down a cinema corridor, whereas Dark City would just blend into the background

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,511 ✭✭✭Purgative

Breakfast at Tiffanys - nicer poster, crackin film

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,437 ✭✭✭davetherave

Breakfast at Tiffanys. Haven't seen either, but B@T is brighter, and more appealing to the eye colour wise.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,712 ✭✭✭Sawduck

    Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

More pleasant to the eyes, plus its pretty iconic too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

    Breakfast at Tiffany's advances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,552 ✭✭✭✭Trigger

    Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

Not even sure what is happening with the other one

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,786 ✭✭✭KathleenGrant

Would have voted the Shining but anyways....

Breakfast at Tiffany's. Dark City probably suits movie but can't make anything out.
