The vaccine will not cause you to test positive.

Had 2nd pfizer jab last week, omg my legs were killing me all night long, felt like I had been squatting and doing walking lunges all week!

Another strange thing was a constant erection (sorry for sounding rude) from around 10pm until around 4pm the following day. I even rang the gp about it and her advice was it's not a known symptom and it should go away, if it doesn't then ring her back lol.

I’ve had tinnitus for about 4 weeks now. Not sure if it started before first dose or after. That and still manically tired and feeble feeling a full 2 weeks after second jab.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,669 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

    Moderna

After the first shot just a sore arm but after the second one had the sweats, headache and no energy.

Was fine by evening time the next day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,426 ✭✭✭italodisco

I hope the tinnitus goes away, I've had intermittent tinnitus for 4 years now and when it's bad it's soul destroying, high frequency ring in one ear, drives me up the wall at times. Get it checked

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69,538 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Nothing further. Been quite lucky with very little from either

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,946 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Full time tinnitus sufferer here. It's nasty. Would definitely wish it on my worst enemy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,426 ✭✭✭italodisco

I go through periods of it, might not have it for a week and then it comes on, can't concentrate on much when it's bad.

Mine comes on after I carry anything heavy or use my left arm for leaning on, carrying things with my left, push ups, arm curls etc (just my left ear rings) and a gp is sending me to a shoulder specialist as she is convinced its a pinched nerve.

    Here's hoping!

Pfizer here, early 40s, good health.

    Dose 1 - sore arm

Dose 2 on Thursday 22 July - sore arm and I’ve been really tired the last couple of weeks with slight headaches coming and going.

Right now I don’t feel good at all about getting a booster and if I had a choice today I’d say no.

Got my first Pfizer a week ago. Had no side effects on the day*, and he following day I felt like someone punched me in the arm. Was sore if it touched against anything, but it didn't swell up, or become immovable or stiff or anything like that. Just a day of a slight soreness that went away the next day.

*About 5 minutes after getting injected, I got a really hot flush and a fainting sensation, lasting about 3-4 minutes; but this seems to happen me anytime I've ever given a blood test so i think it's just my body doesn't like needles!

Likewise , started about a week or so after my 2nd Moderna shot.

I've had it a few times before but only for very short periods of a couple of days at a time - It's been going for for about a month now though.

I have a history of Sinusitis so not sure if it's just coincidence that this came up after the shot.

I had a sore arm for a day or two after the 1st shot however after the second shot it was sore again but this time the area around the injection site was hot to the touch for about a week , similar to the way you might be after a reaction to an insect bite.

Also - I actually caught Covid between the 2 shots , tested positive 8 days after the 1st shot as a close contact of another positive case. so my second shot was delayed by about 10 days as they insist of a full 28 days after a positive test before you can get it.

I only had ~1 day of symptoms from Covid - about 2 days after I tested I woke up with a 104 temp and a very painful cough and generally felt wretched for 24/36hrs , was fine after that though.

    Pfizer here

After the first I had a sore arm for a couple of days, tiredness the evening of and two nights of bad sleep.

After the 2nd sore arm but not as bad as the 1st time and a headache and tiredness next day but not sure if that was because of the vaccine or the fact that my 1 year old kept me awake half the night.

    Pfizer..

1st jab - sore arm, and headache/nausea on day 2 (felt like a bad hangover, but didn't last long)

2nd jab - sore arm, but no other side effects

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,075 ✭✭✭questionmark?

I think you took the wrong Pfizer!

Joking aside....that is a very unfortunate side effect and first time I heard anyone say it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,020 ✭✭✭1123heavy

    Had the Janssen yesterday

Fine after it until about midnight last night felt a fever coming on. Temperature at 40 all day and feeling like I was hit by a train, moderate fever.

Took some paracetamol and had a good snooze in the afternoon, felt a lot better but still not fully there. Tomorrow should be a lot better hopefully.

I think anyone who chooses not to get the vaccine will be hounded and ostracised until they do. There is a massive moral panic underway. It's become entirely politicised and has turned very ugly fast. I don't believe that medicine by coercion is ethically sound but that's where we are. I think we'll look back on this period with shame.

As for my own experience, i was aware that side effects were a possibility so it hasnt changed my view on anything really.

    Thanks.

My opinion is the same. I half joke that I am keeping a list of all the public figures who became despots at this time.

Read up a bit yesterday on Covid vaccine side effects and side effects for vaccines generally and the concensus seems to be you should have side effects, you should have the sore arm, you should experience other things as well to varying extent. That that is good and it means the vaccine is working through and doing what's it's suppose to.

Got my first pfizer 2 weeks ago and only side effects I had initially were a sore arm and mild fatigue. However the last few days I've been getting severe night sweats. No fever that I can tell, but massively profuse sweating to the point my bed sheets are soaked.

Wasn't sure if it was related to the jab or not (especially given it started maybe a week to 10 days after the jab) but found a pre-print of a paper that reported night sweats and hyperhidrosis as newly reported reactions. (https://www.bmj.com/content/374/bmj.n1920) Also reported by the EMA (https://www.ema.europa.eu/en/documents/covid-19-vaccine-safety-update/covid-19-vaccine-safety-update-comirnaty-14-july-2021_en.pdf).

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Not sure if it's just me or maybe pure coincidence but can help thinking my immune system is doing it's job after both doses.

Anyway here it goes, I usually sleep absolutely fine. Just over 2 weeks from dose 1 I got 2 nights in a row where I found it hard to sleep until around 2am or there abouts when I'd eventually drift off to sleep. 2 nights in a row and then it didn't happen again.

Fast forward 2 weeks after 2nd dose and I've had 3 nights in a row of the same thing, going to bed at the same time as usual and then not actually getting to sleep until around the 2am mark.

Now maybe it's just me but I can't help but thinking that my immune system is doing it's job and kicking in. Anyway could be completely unrelated but just got me thinking with regards to the time from jab to immune response etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,900 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

Got the sweating myself. I never sweat when asleep usually and definitely not to the extent where, like you, my bed sheets ended up actually wet. That was two nights in a row. Never happened to me before. Safe to say it's a side effect of the vaccine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,027 ✭✭✭opus

After the first Pfizer shot I was knackered the following day & fell asleep on the sofa after work. The second one had zero effect on me on the other hand. Well my arm was a little sore both times but that's the same as from any vaccine injection I've ever got, a bit of light stretching sorted it out pretty much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,514 ✭✭✭bee06

Sleeplessness is one of the side effects listed for Pfizer. I had it as well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,302 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

But 2 weeks post doses ? That was the only thing that made me think nah maybe its not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,483 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

I had the sweats and felt like crap for a couple of days after the second Pfizer, wife was pretty much the same.

Have to say if a booster is offered this winter i'd be hesitant to go though all that again.

    Vaccine: Pfizer

    Dose 1: Sore arm

Dose 2: that night I woke up in the middle of the night, I thought I was dying, never felt pain like it in the bones of my body and I was shivering from the cold... Sharp pains in my joints on the side of my body I got the vaccine in.

Nearly a week in, and I am still breaking out in the sweats, proper hot flushes!!! Still have a sore arm and sore shoulders and neck. Now I'm one of those people who is always tired, so the fatigue is nothing new to me, but I'm struggling to sleep lately, with all the above issue :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 593 ✭✭✭cavemeister

    Pfizer vaccine.

Jab 1: Arm sore at injection point. No other symptoms.

Jab 2: Arm sore at injection point. Slight temperature the next day and moderate brain fog day 4 and 5 after jab.

    All fine now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,193 ✭✭✭Glaceon

Nothing after my first dose of Pfizer except a sore arm for 2 or 3 days. I got the second dose on Tuesday and have the same sore arm but was tired and had a headache last night. Took some ibuprofen but I’m fine today. My arm is still a little sore but even that shouldn’t last long. I got off lightly!

Are people getting a follow up call to be asked if they had any side effects after taking the vaccine or are people self reporting if they have side affects?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,260 ✭✭✭Mink

Sore arm with dose 1 Pfizer.

Got dose 2 lunchtime Tuesday. Started to feel crappy after dinner, and that turned into full blown fever and being bed ridden.

Stupidly didn't take anything until lunchtime Wednesday. In an absolute heap until bedtime Wednesday. So much shorter than a real flu or covid.

Moral of the story, try and arrange a day off work next day and for young kids to be minded. If you're not ill, you've bagged a duvet day! Take 2 panadol as soon as you start to feel a fever setting in/feeling bad. Once you get in the bed, it's very hard to get out of it. Bring lots of water/fluids with you.

Sore and stiff arm after first as well as second dose. Pfizer. I think I caught covid a year and a half ago though, so maybe antibodies helped.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,816 ✭✭✭Relikk

Had my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on the 27th of last month. Had the usual sore arm for a couple of days, but every day since then I've had a persistent phlegmy build up in my throat that I need to clear every so often, and my breathing feels a little heavy during the day. This is unusual for me under normal circumstances, so it's why I'm putting it down as potential side effects.

Today I feel particularly ****, very tired, headache, slight burning sensation in my chest and throat. As far as I'm aware I haven't been exposed to anyone exhibiting COVID symptoms, so again I'm putting it down to potential side effects of the vaccine. I initially put off getting the vaccine for a month or two and this is the reason why. Dreading the 2nd dose now.

Had shot two of Pfizer yesterday PM. Surprised how bad I feel, really thought I’d get away with it (for no reason whatsoever other than blind hope).

Feels very much like flu - started around 3am 12 hours after vaccine - aches and pains all over (still have these), shivers, then fever, and also kidney pains like a kidney infection. Paracetamol and bed for awhile will hopefully get me through quickly! The other poster above was bang on about bringing lots of water to bed, standing up is the most unappealing thing in the world right now.

    Grateful to be done though.

    Astra Zeneca

Tinnitus within a day of 1st dose, never had it before, it’s rotten.

GP has given up, everything normal after an MRI and audiology tests.

    now on the quack cures.

Had Pfizer 1st dose yesterday afternoon, got a fever yesterday evening and was feeling tired. Today I started having lower back pain. I also have a sore arm.

Did anyone suffer from lower back pain after getting Pfizer?

Apart from a sore arm, both doses of Pfizer didnt leave me with any side affects. Developed a cough (for 4 days) a week after the 1 jab but not sure if it was vaccine related.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,302 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

Another awful nights sleep, hoping this comes to an end sharpish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,256 ✭✭✭Elessar

I've been feeling unusually exhausted this week, 2 weeks after my first Pfizer dose. Had to lie down at one point as I was feeling weak.

Seeing other people here report side effects also after 2 weeks makes me think it might be vaccine related. Might not be though, who knows.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 614 ✭✭✭random_banter

Update to this - it’s the next day and I feel absolutely fine again. Literally 24 hours of those symptoms and they’re gone. The miracle of science! Drank extra water to give my kidneys some help.

@Amouar lower back pain can be confused with kidney pain and vice versa - and after having a chat with someone yesterday about this they pointed out that your kidneys work hard to eliminate toxins etc from your body when Ill and that’s the probably what mine were doing after the vaccine - makes sense that they tell you to drink loads of water to help flush yourself out after the vaccine. (Not official medical advice, if it still concerns you definitely seek a doctors advice). Hope you’re feeling better!

    F, 32

    Vaccine: Moderna

Dose 1:sore arm, felt a bit tired for 24 hours

Dose 2 (yesterday): feel like I've been hit by a truck, aches and pains all over. Pounding headache, shivering and fever last night. No appetite. Intermittent hot flushes. Praying I'll wake up a new woman tomorrow!

  • Registered Users Posts: 150 ✭✭Gary Scrod

    Did anyone get the scutters?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,289 ✭✭✭Hippodrome Song Owl

Pfizer dose 2 yesterday. I discussed how painful my arm was last time with this vaccinator and she said it was probably related to my upper arm muscles being tensed at the time of the injection. She spent a few moments getting me to relax my arm and find a comfortable relaxed position before inserting the needle. Last time the needle was inserted quite suddenly before I even expected it, so my arm may well have been tense - I was gripping the chair arms I think.

So this time I just had a mild pain in my upper arm on raising it above shoulder level. Already much improved 24h later. Relieved not to need assistance dressing myself this time given I live alone! Today I feel mostly fine, a very mild headache and feeling a bit off, as if I hadn't slept. Grand though.

Just wondering if you were a terminally ill 90 year old and you suffered these side effects what would be the outcome?
