"Supporting totalitarianism" is some heft of a flex when anti-vax sentiment and associated pishpuffinery has its origins amongst right wing fascist grifters.

I know that poster I think he is banned from most of the Covid threads so he is going looking for an argument elsewhere.

Could be but would it be worth their while? Know they got financial support from government so maybe reduced capacity and stream it for people who can't go or something? Guess it would be a compromise between going ahead with 70k or not going ahead at all.

Anyone know of any vendors/artists/acts that usually are at EP getting notice of it going ahead?

Not the big muisc acts, Heineken beer tents or the like, i mean smaller food vans, visual artists, boogie bus etc?

I presume they need to get applications approved ? Do bar staff, stewards etc get much notice?

I know FR is a well oiled machine, but im curious how straightforward the organisation would be

That's a good point, wonder if The Flying Machine folks have had word yet. They travel across from England, doing a circuit of festivals throughout the year. They set up shop at a couple of locations at Glastonbury, and at the lower entrance to the Body & Soul stage at EP. Sound people and great food/coffee.

If I get an email for volunteering in a week or two, well it will be definitely on, will let you know if I do but usually that comes bundled with a lineup announcement.

For the sake of safety ,I hope it doesn’t go ahead ,70k at a push near the end of September,I know the figures look promising on the vaccination front, but I think it’s too tight a deadline for it to go ahead,

By the way I got 3rd rescheduled email for Dynamo Metalfest In Eindhoven, rescheduled for summer 2022, I’ll have to put in for a 6 month career break to attend all the gigs in summer 2022!!!!

I'm curious about what these safety fears that everyone keeps citing are. What's the worst case scenario if everyone attending is vaccinated/tested on the way in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,954 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

I'll still wear a mask in pretty crowded situations like the thoroughfare between the stalls and the stages or if I want to get up front near the barrier for a gig, will probably take a few bottles of santiser as well to be on the safe side. 😊

I'm also curious, especially if these fears will be still here for next year. All I have noticed is local councilors spreading fear because as we know all they care about is votes. They'd sell their own grandmother if it ment they were guaranteed re election.

The unwarranted fear is what's annoying me though. I'm well aware that 20 elderly residents died in the first wave and I can understand how that would be still raw for locals but really what is the risk for the current elderly residents that are fully vaccinated and their risk is considerably lower that this time last year.

Yet you have these uneducated idiots pushing fear and essentially spreading false information. There are plenty of stately homes around the Leinster area that would be happy to host an event like this so that may be an option in the future. It would be a shame to lose such a great site though.

Would love to see it but don’t think it’ll be a runner this year

Does everyone need to be vaccinated including the Artists for EP to go ahead?

There is little more fascistic than judging part of society to be subhuman simply because they do not wish to take an unlicensed injection.

And for your information FF & FG are both right-wing parties - I am actually extremely left-wing.

As stated above, he said that twice last year too.

He's just trying to bully the government now into letting it go ahead so he can make $$$, he has no idea one way or another by the sounds of those quotes.

I’m probably looking at from a personal point of view ,have a relative in the local nursing home( got over the Covid as well) and it is the fears that having a large number of attendees, that there is that chance of the virus occurring again locally which could affect the elderly/vulnerable ,who’s immune systems might have already been affected by contracting the virus in the first place.

All on for the festival to go ahead ,as I would love to go,but I dunno ,70k and trying to arrange the festival around the end of September could be leaving it tight

Sounding like UK arenas may be opened to full capacity this Autumn

Reckon that irish shows may be postponed and be part of future European legs of tours and artists will do the UK gigs as scheduled this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,679 ✭✭✭endainoz

With all due respect, has the relative you have in nursing care been vaccinated? The risk is far less now than it was before. I really don't see how it would be an issue, and you have an even smaller portion of the potential attendees (such as yourself) that possibly might visit them after EP which you'd probably be best waiting two weeks for just to be safe.

Another question: Do you believe things will be any safer this time next year when there will likely be less people fully vaccinated? We have the data from the festivals that took place in the UK, cases have been really low.

We also have the really encouraging news of all the young people over the weekend using the walk in centres. These have been the same demographic that have been constantly blamed their recklessness and it's great to see them making the effort to get covered.

Im pretty sure he said on rte this afternoon that anyone working at the festival will need to be vaccinated so id presume that might mean the artists (but that could depend)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,540 ✭✭✭Mike Guide 69

They were vaccinated (eventually mind you) despite the fact that the relative contracted COVID .isolated ,recovered although has some issues now with lung capacity . It is encouraging that the huge numbers are been vaccinated,it’s fantastic to see but as I said it is leaving it very tight with the run in to the end of September with a proposed 70k capacity

Not gonna lie if Limp Bizkit were announced I'd lose my **** ha. The first band I got into in my early teens and have seen them about 4 times over the years and they put on a great show.
