Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Should have been revoked years ago for their rip off prices.

I wonder what the full story is...................................

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭Bigmac1euro

I knew it was the temple bar that also started trouble at the beginning of lockdown. I couldn’t find any articles on it. This shower are scum and should lose their license but they’re in bed with the authorities i bet. As we can see in the protest videos yesterday

to be honest the skateboarder kid might have antagonised them. I heard they asked someone for a smoke or the bouncer for a smoke and then the bouncer started slagging them and then possibly something happened to start a physical altercation.

Either way its no excuse and it’s fairly pathetic a grown man had to drag a 14 year old child into the pub especially with covid and likely the child is not vaccinated.

There’s usually a good excuse for beating on a 14 year old and then proceeding to drag them into a pub against their will after you’ve slapped them up and down the street.

in the absence of any context - i wouldn't be forming any real opinion on the situation.

Organiser Evan Fogarty (24) said the teenagers involved had done nothing wrong. “All we want is somebody to come out and say sorry. It is not much to ask for,” he said.

Eyewitness Aoife Kehoe (17), who was with the teenagers , said the incident occurred when the security guards started to tease the teenagers about being skateboarders.

However - I really think there is more to the story than this

That story seems a bit one sided. Maybe leave the torches and pitchforks to the side until there is a bit more detail?

A teen getting dragged into a licensed premise to continue an assault after being attacked with an ashtray and kicked in the head isn't deserving of criticism?

  • Registered Users Posts: 620 ✭✭✭aidoh

I'm surprised the Twitter outrage mob never jumped in this story tbh.

It's shocking. No matter the prelude that led to this, it's beyond disproportionate to drag a teenager inside your premesis to (presumably) kick the ever-loving sh!te out of them off camera.

I've also witnessed the gards (most look like young trainee hot-head types) carrying on similarly around town over the past few weeks and months. I don't know what's in the water these days. Maybe steroids 💪

Here’s an honest question for people saying they don’t know the context.

if you were walking through your housing estate and you witness a 40 year old man beating a 14 year old on the ground and then dragging him against his will towards his house would you mind your own business and assume because you don’t know the context you will ignore the situation you just witnessed?

This is a real Irish approach. We’ve learned nothing about abuse throughout the years in this country, it’s actually quite sad.

I had 2 skateboarders outside my gaff at 9.30 last night, making serious noise jumping about the place and woke up my one year old.

I asked them politely to move on, they apologised politely and moved immediately, seemed like nice lads.

I suppose I didn't know at the time that this was an option.

Is there another video that shows the kick to the head?

Because the linked video clearly shows someone getting kicked in the bum.

"One individual threw a battery at the door"

He was definitely trying to start something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,703 ✭✭✭whippet

the video you posted shows nobody being dragged in to a pub ... let along attacked with an ashtray.

You are probably protected in your work by security personnel at the door.

I am sure you are grateful for their presence.

Let the Gardai deal with this matter.

You haven’t a clue what you’re talking about because you haven’t watched all the videos.

I like the bit at the start where the young lad squares upto the staff member and the other starts swinging a skateboard.

It's funny how that never made it into the majority of the videos going around on Twitter etc.

So if a 13 year old child squares up to you, it's perfectly reasonable to throw an ashtray at their face? Sound logic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭Bigmac1euro

My favourite bit is when trained licensed security men can’t handle a couple of 14 year old skateboarders.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,638 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

And you can tell they're security personnel from a grainy video can you?

I dunno, I wouldnt like someone to swing a skateboard inches from my face, I quite like my teeth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,638 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

So they're 13 now? The ages have decreased again.

I heard they were 10 myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭Bigmac1euro

Noticed the Irish times pulled the article from Facebook. Wonder why?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭Bigmac1euro

Do you think the child’s sister is lying about his age?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,028 ✭✭✭✭SEPT 23 1989

would they be middle class teenagers by any chance?

Sorry I don't know his sister, may you're more familiar with these 'litle angles' than I am.

Maybe his sister might enquire why her darling child brother was out in the city at night?

There is a great difference between defending onself.. as we are all very much entitled to do... and whats being shown in that video... which is of a kid being dragged along the ground and into a premises and hit with an object.. ie. assaulted...bouncer simply needs to call the Gardai... de-escalate the situation and use proportionate force to defend himself...

Gonna be big payouts for the kids.

    are you reading this thread?

someone posted the tweet from the child’s sister where she clarifies he was 13???

I’m not wasting my breath on you anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,703 ✭✭✭whippet

I can only go on what I see .. so if I’m reading this correctly there was a verbal altercation and someone starting swinging a skateboard in someone’s face and a row erupted … culminating in a young fella getting a hiding?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,320 ✭✭✭RoryMac

you miss the part where the little scrote is on top of someone punching them in the head before the security guy gets involved??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,700 ✭✭✭Feisar

Agreed, however are we not forever giving out about feral youths having no fear of the law? And wouldn't it be great if they got their comeuppance? Attacking people with skateboards? Yea great idea but don't bite off more than you can chew.

First they came for the socialists...

its an age old problem .. .young fellas who think they are bullet proof provoking bouncers ... and ending up getting a hiding.

Well we don’t know the full extent. All we know is what’s in the videos.

    -physical altercation.

    -Teens swinging skateboards dangerously.

-adults beating on children as young as 13

    -an ashtray thrown.

-a confused security guy dragging people.

-A child dragged into a pub off camera against his will by clearly an older man over powering him.

Thats what I see in the video. I think it’s enough to make judgement in this case due to previous behaviour as well. Adults shouldn’t beat on kids. Sadly we’ll never know the full story but this isn’t the only problem they’ve caused. You might remember the bad name they gave every pub in the country at the start of lockdown hosting sing songs when the virus ran rampant.

Whole story stinks. What's a pub doing with an ashtray inside it's premises in 2021 for a start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,805 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Absolutely problem is, if that craic starts going excused...then what a punter having a few verbals with a security head who looses patience after a challenging night.....and then the punter gets cracked on the head and dragged inside..that’s not lawful..

i guarantee most of us at some point have seen pub / club security overstep the mark, times I’ve seen it happen coincidentally has been temple bar too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 69,548 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Its outdoors - and its usually a good idea to have one to put out illegally lit cigarettes indoors anyway. Brand new built aircraft still have ashtrays in the toilets for this purpose.

its two groups of people interacting when they should have been. Both in the wrong .. but adults should probably know better. However a skateboard can cause serious damage to any individual regardless of who is swinging it ... and if you do swing it you'd want to be prepared for what ever reaction you are going to get

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,468 ✭✭✭Bigmac1euro

    See that’s an assumption though.

How do we know the lads were provoking the bouncers?

if it’s the case they asked the bouncer for a cigarette and the bouncer slags the teen then is it the bouncer provoking the attack or kid for asking for cigarette?

or skateboarders might have just decided to attack a bouncer for no reason.

This is not usually a typical skateboarders behaviour but how and ever we don’t know what happened which leads us back to video evidence and that video evidence shows adult men beating on teenagers. The kids giving some slaps back and then some guy goes completely over the top by throwing an ashtray. Same guy then drags the 13 YO into the premises against his will. And that is really where the problem is. This wouldn’t be a problem if the dragging into the pub didn’t happen out of camera shot knowing this pub is famous for that camera being live steamed it’s even on their website. So this then shows something malicious within the dragging off camera.

What's a 13 year old doing out at night time in the middle of Dublin city asking for smokes and hasseling licensed premises staff. All the videos show it's clearly dark out.

Is it normal for his parents to have him hanging around the city at night . Place is dangerous enough without throwing middle class kids into the mix.

As for not typical skateboarder behaviour. Never heard such waffle before. Lads on skateboards are no angels. They aren't some hyper being of great citizenship behaviour.

I also find it amusing the difference in opinion on this incident and the inner city young lads a few weeks ago causing havoc on south William Street.

    Classism.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,703 ✭✭✭whippet

One of the young fellas sister even made the comment about him being no angel ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,638 ✭✭✭✭Witcher

Add in the threats of criminal damage against the premises, threats of assault and even death threats on named people. Great 'community' alright..lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,703 ✭✭✭whippet

its all assumptions ..... but I don't for one minute believe that the bouncers initiated anything. They are there day in and day out and probably immune to most of the abuse that bouncers get.

A bunch of feral teenagers out late at night getting in to a row isn't anything unusual either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭nullObjects

Yeah we should definitely leave this to the gardai, where the footage from the door definitely won't go missing if it incriminates the bouncers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,307 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

I tend to agree this is most likely....but the footage doesn't exactly look great from the pubs POV

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,703 ✭✭✭whippet

it’s all selected footage that is been uploaded to social media - I’m sure the guards will be able to get access to the footage that will show the lead up to the main event.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,753 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

I seen him he dragged in. Have t seen him been assaulted after he was dragged in. So its an alleged assault.

Listen, if these teens started on a bouncer as its been alleged on some partsof Twitter, then they have themselves to blame. If thats the case of course.

The footage online is skewwed, as itt begins mid altercation..... its hard to know what happened without full footage. Id ask why was the full footage not published? Did it paint the teens in a bad light?
