Only one episode left in this season?

Very short, presumably CoVid enforced, season then. That's a shame as the run had had a snappy pace to it with some interesting threads. The main court case was fascinating and fairly even handed approach to the topic.

Lucca has been coming off as a bit of a Maya II, a character the writers don't really know what to do with and kinda orbits away from anyone else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Lucca was a much much better character in the good Wife and in season one of this.

The show would benefit with more David Lee.

The Race and Gender arguments that seem to he in most episodes while interesting all but take me out of an otherwise good show as they are shoehorned in so much.

I like the Boseman for president idea, I thought the good Wife was at its best when the political race storylines and it's a perfect opportunity to bring in Eli Gold

Any date for this to start on more4?

Eli named checked! :) Please even for a mini arc next season.

A good episode for what had to be the finale leaving some great cliffhangers.

Looking forward to next season finishing off this Memo 618 story line it's been really interesting.

I could never warm to David Lee,he just infuriates me with his carry on.

God episode areir, bit of a mad ending.

At least it felt like an ending, even if the season was foreshortened. Given we know Jumbo and Lindo are leaving, I guess Boseman will decide he has had enough (and focus on the political career), with Lucca being one of the 20%. Sad to see Lindo go, his charisma is infectious, and one stylish looking gentleman.

The episode itself was fascinating though; I'd love to know how much of the Epstein stuff was true; plus how much legal oversight was required to run with some of the material - especially the Clinton / Trump link ups. I guess it's all first amendment protected.

The final shot was macabre genius.

I am up to episode 6 of this season.
Loved Lorraine Toussaint popping up in ep6 she is a terrific actress. I personally love David Lee.
Kind of gutted it's such a shortened length.
But really enjoyed it so far, interesting cases and glad they moved away a tad from the Trump obsession.

Cush Jumbo is a terrific actress but Luca has been wasted the last while, given very little to do...it's a shame to see her go...but it sounds like she might pop back as a guest star.

Any sign of this to appear on More 4?

Didn't record for me. I had a series link set. When I check next week's episode, the Sky listings just say "This is RTE One HD". This seems to happen regularly with RTE lately. Painfully inept.

Sat down to watch episode 1 last week and it was the same crap about Trump, forgot about it last night but hope the whole season isn't going to be about him.

    First episode
was just a dream, with Clinton winning instead of Trump.

Hopefully a proper season not like that last one, it was a bit of an odd truncated mess after a strong start

Trailer looks good...but...I kind of wish they just had more normal court based stuff sometimes...
Mandy Patinkin is a great addition

Meh, maybe but at season 5 the ship has lonnnnnggggg since sailed that that lament holds water :D Not sure how I'd describe the show these days but it's obviously taking the "ripped from the headlines" part of Good Wife and doubling down, especially given America's many cultural issues ATM. Which IMO is fine, it's obvious the show isn't for me but enjoy the ride all the same. Look forward to it returning, though can't believe it's at a 5th season already ...

I really enjoyed that opening episode it was like a recap episode of everything that happened since the last season finished from Covid to the Insurrection and a good way to say goodbye to Luca & Boseman

    Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Succeeded by Amy Coney Barrett ~ Trump nominated.

For anyone else curious why Diane was so taken back by her passing.

Vague memories of last year, but didn't click on the name during the show.

Why are they getting rid of two of the best characters?

Both actors decided to leave and not renew their contracts, However both agreed to return for this episode to give the fans a proper send off for the characters since last season was cut short due to Covid and they didn't get a farewell.

The actor & actress want to leave for other shows.

"In an exclusive statement to TVLine, Jumbo said, “I have had the most amazing time over the last five years working with Robert, Michelle and the crews of both The Good Wife and The Good Fight. I will miss them all so much, but am so excited to explore pastures new. Due to the pandemic forcing us to shut down early we weren’t able to wrap up Lucca’s story fully and so I hope if schedules allow I can return next season to do that.” "

"Delroy Lindo (who plays Adrian Boseman), would be stepping away from the acclaimed drama following Season 4 to headline the potential ABC series Harlem’s Kitchen."

Well that was a cracking opening to series 5, I enjoyed the fact it wasn't utterly bonkers!
Little details like the messaging on Zoom was spot on, brilliant stuff.

Cush Jumbo is a terrific actress and Luca is a great character, but she wasn't given enough to do a lot of the time.

The Diane on the couch bits were hilarious. Don't sit on the couch, Biden might lose Georgia.

Main problem was her story-lines where tied to other characters that already left.
    • Lucca and Maia’s friendship
    • a romantic/sexual relationship with prosecutor Colin Morrello (Justin Bartha)
    • Her adventures with Bianca last season, And the mystery of a disappearing baby.

That was a fantastic opening Episode, really made great use of losing two leads, alongside the utterly bonkers year and a half between seasons. I love how often this show has played with its own format, with various little eccentric choices, asides and segues. This was a standout.

I'd kinda forgotten half the political stuff, could see how it was a whirlwind for those living in it; and the news of RBG dying a particular cut - especially to someone like Diane.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,881 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Mandy Patinkin and his Judge Judy style crazy kangaroo arbitration court what a brilliant addition to the show.

The new Luca is a good mystery of what is she is up to.

Yes, the RBG death was tough, as was her near heart attack waiting for the Biden result. Brilliant episode, absolutely brilliant.

Time for them to forget the political stuff, Floyd and BLM and go back to what the series was supposed to be about which is court cases.

No surprise Hollywood wanted to take pot shots at Trump over the last few years but the Dems are back now so they can rest easy in their multi million dollar mansions.

The Good Fight was about politics right from the start.

The Good Fight was about politics right from the start.

Yeah but they went to town on it when Trump got in, less and less time fighting cases and most of the episode about him.

As I said hopfully its in the past now.

I respectfully disagree. For me, the USP of the Good Fight is how they intertwine real life with drama, including the Trump stuff, the Epstein stuff, the BLM stuff.

This isn't The Good Wife though, and has been pretty blunt about that since day one. Diane & co obviously coming from that show, but clear enough too the spin off wanted to explore different ideas with a more satirical edge. If that's not to ones taste fair enough, but as I said already, we're at season 5 ... so the element of surprise is long gone :D it's like complaining Frasier wasn't like Cheers; the latter begat the former but nobody would confuse the two; in fact we're nearing the point where the spin off has run as long as the originator!

To the episode, I liked it. The quasi-court was utterly weird and would wonder if it had any inspiration from real life. I suppose as a character said, it was arbitration of sorts so why not run with it? The obvious Luca replacement feels shady as hell so we'll see where that goes.

Also, had to laugh, this episode has two Princess Bride alumni...

It's mad how in touch this show is with what is happening in America, Last weeks episode about a billionaire suing about the protection social media companies have with section 230 came literally hours after Trump held a press conference stating he was going to sue social media companies and challenge the protection the have under section 230.`

I loved episode 3 of the new series.

The section 230 case was excellent, Stephen lang always good the quasi court storyline is fun too

The new additions are top notch Mandy Patinkin and Charmaine Bingwa is seriously terrific, never seen her in anything before.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,440 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

Who was the second one from Princess Bride?

I'm loving this season - quite surreal in parts, almost Twin Peaks style.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 36,711 CMod ✭✭✭✭pixelburp

They didn't share a scene unfortunately but Wallace Shawn (Vizzini) and Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) both appeared in that episode. The former as the drug lords rep (and he had appeared before in Good Wife), the latter as the ad hoc judge

Thanks, I missed Shawn in the Good Fight, for some reason.

  • Registered Users Posts: 870 ✭✭✭barney shamrock

I don't like the direction it's going in now. Apart from the Kurt/Jan 6th storyline it's getting perilously close to jumping the shark.
