Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Petrol/diesel/e-charging plus shop, supermacs, deli, coffee bar, newsagents etc

Exact same as the rest of P McDonagh's plaza's

Tralee - Sligo was a regular run in the old days - 1980's. No Limerick tunnel, Bunratty to Gort via Ennis & many, many other chicanes. Clarinbridge, Claregalway, Tuam, Claremorris & Knock all contributed to delay. Did the trip both ways yesterday - the Gort to Tuam bit makes a huge contribution. The only bit of motorway not pointed @ Dublin. How did it get built in a Dublin centric country?

The Charlestown to Collooney bit is an irritant, but back in the (not so good) old days all of the trip was on such roads.

In fairness the Dublin radial routes needed to be built first. It would have been ridiculous not to connect Dublin with the major cities as a starting point.

However after they were complete the next part of the plan was to build what was referred to as the Atlantic Corridor. This was announced in 2005 and was a proposed HQDC link running from Letterkenny through Sligo down along the N17/N18, linking to Galway via the N6, to Limerick, then on to Cork, and finally as far as Waterford.

It was to be built in sections and the M18 was the first part. The downturn in 2008 meant everything got put on hold. After the recovery the first part of the M17 was completed. The M20 part had to be redone and is now only coming to build stage. I suspect we may eventually get the rest of the M17 but I wouldn't hold out much hope for the Letterkenny end or the Waterford end every being built at this point.
