OP I'd just be careful you aren't making yourself too identifiable in these posts, it will out that you have a post lined up.

Well how did you get on

    Hi,

It went pretty well. They agreed to pay me an ex gratia payment of one week full pay per year of service up to the end of 3 month notice period (2.5 years total). With statutory it works out at €8k and I only have to give 4 weeks notice. I have over 20 days AL so will only come in a couple of days over July to ensure a smooth hand over.

I am entitled to 20 days AL (so 11.67 to end of July) but only took 9 last year due to being busy as a result of Covid and they allowed me carry all 11 over which I was surprised at.

They are also giving me a €300 allowance for legal advice on the severance agreement I must sign. I presume that will mention something about me not being able to put in a claim for whatever reason. TBH I have no interest in a claim, I am just happy that it was all sorted amicably and I can move on now and prepare for my next job.

Thank you to all who contributed to this thread, some valuable advice and opinions shared!

WELL DONE, you landed on your feet there.
The " legal advice" money is fairly common nowadays.... use it for pints.......its just a " crossing the t's 'exercise.

Totally off topic here.... but the " legal advice" money phenomenon originated with the banks tracker mortgage scandal.... it was a " cover" to prevent ' second bite of the cherry' claimants. Funnily enough everyone use the same figure of €300, whereas in reality €300 wouldn't get you anywhere if you had a genuine legal grievience

However the 300 euro it's usually+ vat as you can give them the receipt and they claim the vat back will get a rural based solicitor to read the termination agreement and make sure there is no sticky clauses innit. However if you read it yourself you will have a fair idea of the termination agreement.

I took a deal two years ago and I had to submit a solicitor's invoice to my employer. However the sum was substantially more than 8 k

Tbh my neighbour from my youth is a solicitor. I was going to ask him to do up an invoice and donate the 300e to a cancer charity.

He has done work for me in the past and wouldn't accept payment. His mother and sister both died from cancer.

Glad its all sorted for you OP.

Are they paying you the 3 months notice period but only asking you to work 4 weeks of it?
