    No, just absolutely no. A quieter country location you won't find in any county in Ireland, never mind Dublin. There is no mobile signal up that end of the valley never mind any type of broadband. The road approaching is a single lane country road, and extends that way for quite a few kilometres.

    This is a rural retreat for the uber-wealthy, not a play ground for the Instagram generation.

    My husband has a copy of Mein Kampf in the house. I refused to allow it be in the bookshelves in the living room in case people thought the worst. In fairness to him, he's a history and politics nerd so he wanted to read it. Said it was the biggest pile of sh!te he's ever read. And he's read Moll Flanders.

    This picture is a good example of what I was saying about the shrunken cgi furniture.

    Compare the size of the couch with the steps of the stairs, the front door and the window. No way you'd actually fit a real couch in like that. It's like the furniture images were reduced to circa 60% of actual real life size, giving the impression of loads of room in that house.

    Look at the bottom right of the photo- "Virtually staged using CGI furniture". Thats a new one on me, estate agents have gotten into the CGI business

    In any case that tv is not for watching, its so Karen can have the digital version of 'Live, Laugh, Love' on it or whatever other inspirational quote she saw on Instagram that day.

    I don't think I've seen this CGI crap on a house sale before, very cute and it definitely shouldn't be allowed.
    I'd class it exactly the same as false advertising and should be outlawed.

    On the cgi furniture. It will backfire same as the fish eye lense will eventually. People go for a viewing and say, hang on, a bed would not fit there, and a sofa would be a tight fit there, no thank you. And the estate agent has wasted ah hour of his time. I agree it should be investigated though, think I will drop a line to https://www.ipav.ie/

    I contacted them about the practise of rounding up site sizes - anything slightly over a half acre described as an acre etc. Now they put the actual size on the ad. (not suggesting that I had anything to do with it, but if enough people complain...)

    I always think that you’d need a fairly strong personality to be comfortable living in a converted church. Not because of any religious element, but they are buildings designed to be overwhelming, with very high ceilings, narrow (but ornate) windows, the opposite of cosy. Unless they’ve been completely converted with additional floors or false ceilings etc. to make them standard room-sized, which then kind of defeats the purpose. I think it would be cool to stay somewhere like that for a holiday, but as a permanent home I’d find it very tiring to live in.

    Yeah I would feel largely the same, living in one wouldnt appeal to me.

    There are some good conversions that add floors but also leave one part of it as the full height space, a kind of a middle ground. The big downside for me though is the narrow windows that the planners will dictate have to remain as stained glass which lets very little light in. Even the big massive round window behind the churchs alter doesnt let much light in. Id find it claustrophobic never being able to properly see the sky because of the stained glass.

    If you were allowed normal glazing the inside of the building would be a different proposition. But still wouldnt fancy living in one.

    Ok I know a builder might buy this one but there's an awful lot of work to be done and you don't know how well it was built in the first place. They're asking €219k, which is not exactly giving it away. And given the price of houses in the area, I can't see anyone turning a profit on it, but then, what do I know?

    Anyone know what the story with this would be? It's been up for several months, possibly more than a year. I'm looking at houses in that price bracket. Turns out it was auctioned for €266,000, but must have fallen through and i's back up on Daft.ie.

    The add on Daft states that it is for auction on 4 Aug 2012. The advised minimum value is€215k, which means absolutely nothing.

    That previous bid of €266k is dead. One party has decided to pull out. The buyer may have found something better or maybe the seller thought that the offer wasn't high enough.

    Incidentally, 4 or 5 years ago, a house near where my parents lived came up for sale. It achieved an excellent price,and went sale agreed. Many months later I noticed it up for sale again. I made inquiries and found out that the buyers had simultaneously, had offers and gone sale agreed on 4 different properties, with 4 different estate agents because the poor things couldn't make up their mind which one they wanted the most.

    Once they decided which one they wanted, in their own time, they went back into the estate agents and received all their deposits back on the three houses they were no longer interested in.

    Its a 2 bed in a dodgy enough area with tiny (shared) back garden and its been vacant for years so needs a lot of work you'd assume. Was on sale in 2015 for 190k.

    Id imagine people walk away when the get a surveyor in and see the costings to get it liveable.

    neighbours house burned down. the 266k bid was before the madness started in the market so I expect it will go for at least 266 and require a lot of work.

    The Garden isn't shared it's just in Drimnagh the gardens were divided by those metal fences.
    you can put a fence up to have a private garden but it will be very small.
