My curiosity would be with things like the M1 Carbine which had a kit issued to convert it to M2(FA).

It was originally an M1, semiauto, then converted to FA as an M2, sometimes the receiver was remarked as M2, sometimes not, then at some point it was sold into civilian use and the FA M2 parts removed.

So any guesses, from SA to FA and back again classed as prohib or not?
Once an FA always a FA, or would the M1 even without the M2 parts installed be the FA? ;)

If it is an officially made M2 receiver minus select fire parts, which would be a very rare beast in the EU, and there's no way of installing the parts and has been officially modified to such, you'd be IMO good to go.

I'd doubt the M2 was issued to any former Axis police or military units in postwar Europe either, so it's a problem unknown. If it was a kit installed in an M1 in Europe, it's an illegal firearm anyway. If it was an original M1 minus the kit,its still an M1...If that make sense?

Plus, remember when such guns were imported here, those handfuls that are here in Ireland. The import cert or license doesn't say what their previous history or breeding was. IE FN 308 could be a civilian MSR i 308, or a former converted select-fire FAL. The only way to find out would be to individually inspect each rifle to asertain its pedigree and research the serial number.

That's the interesting thing, a lot started life as M1s and were overstamped on conversion. However sometimes they were converted and not overstamped either.
Rare enough, yup, but they do exist.

There is some debate on the US side of the pond as to whether a marked M2 carbine sans FA parts is an NFA item or not.
Moreso than here but I'd be surprised if there were none EU-wide.

As far as installing the parts I believe a kit was issued that could complete the conversion without any serious machining operations at a company level.

Indeed, that'd be my presumption, no kit then M1, with kit then M2.

And that's the crux of it, without disassembling and a careful look that wouldn't be knowable with the M1/M2, especially if it was once an M1 and never got overstamped.

    Interesting thought though ;)

A bit of off season work done to the rifle. Saving for different parts and finally managed to get them all last week. It's a Howa 1500 in 243. There was a Boyds laminate stock on it and a Bushnell Banner dusk & dawn 6-18x50.
Now there's a Grs Bifrost stock and a Docter 3-12x56. Had it out for zeroing yesterday and tried different ammo. I had been using Sellior&Bellot all last season, the groups of 5 shots were scattered over anything from about at 2 inches to the left or right at 100 metres with no consistency as to where it was going, tried Sako 100gr, the groups tightened up to a nice definite kill in the area i was aiming at. Finally Federal 100gr JSP power shok... 5 bullet holes overlapping each other dead centre, 1 inch high at 100 metres. Absolutely delighted!
Sonic35 mod, light and good enough to reduce the noise to very bearable by comparison to without it!

That's a serious looking set up tom, I have a Howa 1500 myself and reckon they are a seriously underestimated rifle.

Good looking rig. Good call on upgrading the ammo. With such a nice rifle, it's almost a sin to feed it with stuff it doesn't like.

    Thanks :)

Only been out a handful of times so still breaking her in and ammo testing. Lapua Centre-X and SK Match have given best groups so far.
Very pleased with the groups and consistency. Trigger has absolutely zero creep. Still on factory setting, not lightened it yet.
    Loving it :D

I felt the same when I placed my order for my Tikka T1x.
Now that I have it I'm delighted with it.

    And here she is.

Seems like a solid very well put together package. Bolt feels not slick but like it's on rails, which I suppose it sort of is!

Overall, delighted with it and can't wait to hit the range.

Took the plunge on a new Tikka T3x in .223.

Only picked it up yesterday and set it up this evening. Took a bit of time to dial in the scope but once I got it dialled in then I shot a 4 shot group into less than 20mm.
Went for a new Atec V2 mod as well.

Collected my new CZ 457 LRP this week. And I have a new Elements Helix 6-24x50mm to go on top. Don't know when I'll get out to shoot it, but the back field will do to get it zeroed in.

Aim small, and hit hard. Did you buy from Paddy, Gun Shop.ie??? I know he got some in after seeing my CZ457 LRP.

I'll update this post as I go along >>>> https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2058186312

My CZ 457 LRP is just starting to give me good groupings, after many hours of range time.
I have tried all the different match ammo but with little success. I was cleaning the barrel between each type to give a same result????? 3 wet patches, load 4 mags up and then 3 dry patches. I think that's what I was going wrong.
I now just shoot say 30 rounds after a change of ammo and then go for groups. I'll not clean now until the groups start to open up.

The rifle is liking SK standard Plus yellow box, SK Rifle Match, Lapua Center X, Eley Action, Eley Match (black box).

At 50m I'm getting 12mm to 6mm (just a couple) with SK Standard Plus. And I'm using these most of the time 'cos I still have a good few boxes of these.

Slightly different hardware on display and a first at doing this.
Out on a sec42 yesterday, we decided to enjoy the weather and invested in some single plate gas cookers. Steak and eggs and tea cooked on the back of a Navara before heading uphill for the evening. Almost too hot yesterday for us and the deer, but this will be utilised in winter for sure

The thinking is that it will be great on those cold winter morning stalks, get nothing and head back to the car for hot food, tea and go again!

The burners are great, heat quickly and cooked quickly.

I always love dining al fresco, especially during long pigeon shooting days. The pigeon decoying is only an excuse to cook out.

After being introduced to hammock camping a few of us started over night deer camps. Two days stalking, a bit of camp fire grub with a beer or two.

    Just a trick or two.
Don't leave the canisters attached as the seal is not great, Don’t use pans or pots bigger than the star grate as the flame doesn't burn well.
Keep the canisters insulated during colder weather when not in use- wrap in towel, the seem to work better that way.

Debating an overnight camp up the fields at the moment, with the decent weather and long daylight it'd be worth maximising time up there. I've spent enough time catching frostbite up there!!
We took the cannisters off when done and kept them stored cool. The pot(couldn't find the camping kettle) and pan were small camping gear equipment so well suited.
