125,000 doses given Wednesday-Thursday. Phenomenal effort.

The staff at UCD MVC looked absolutely exhausted when I was there.

So Boots cancelled my appointment and now the only boots store in Ireland that has an available appointment is in Kilarney. Cheers Boots

Yeah they'll cancel most if not all. Try again next week when they know what stock they're getting

Plenty will go for AstraZeneca as well. Will be offered to them as soon as July 12th, meaning many people who accept it will be fully dosed by mid August.

Everything I’ve read is that there are no spare AZ until the end of the month (week of the 26th). Everything is allotted for the over 60s, healthcare, cohort 4/7. There was someone on Newstalk saying that it looks like a lot of healthcare workers are still waiting and on 15/16 weeks now. I know personally I’m on week 15 and HSE has no clue.

Out of interest, of those that have had Boots appointments cancelled, when are they for? I can understand cancelling appointments for early next week I suppose if they have no stock, but seems stupid to be cancelling those for weeks out at the moment.

They don't know yet what their stock is going to be.

The safest bet is to wait for the website to update to inviting 18-34 and book an appointment then.

Can't see an answer from searching but someone might have one.

Younger sibling will be due vaccine in MVC, but suffers with very bad anxiety. GP isn't doing age based, and said go to MVC should be no issue being accompanied. Had heard a similar kind of story and companion was refused entry, so asked at the MVC and was told they can't be accompanied full stop.

Issue is they likely won't go in and get it done without someone with them, will have a panic attack and leggit if on their own, GP can't understand the issue with the MVC denying access and said to take them and explain circumstance, but wondering if anyone had a similar experience?

I'd say in that case you have two options:

    1. Rock up to the vaccination centre early in the morning, like 9am. Explain the issue, see if you can get a supervisor or someone else senior to talk to. At that time of the morning it should be quieter, they might be more amenable to having someone accompany them. If the person accompanying your sibling could be fully vaccinated, that would be best

    2. Get an ear to the ground for which GPs locally are still vaccinating. Call them up and explain the issue, see if they can add your brother to their list.

IRELAND is on the brink of buying one million Covid-19 vaccines from the Romanian government, Independent.ie can exclusively reveal.
700,000 Pfizer and 300,000 Moderna doses are part of deal

That sounds grim. Do they not need them in Romania?

High amounts of vaccine skepticism there, they can't use them.

And going out of date so will be binned otherwise.

They do, but the population won't take them. Healthcare infrastructure in Romania is just awful, and the population are (understandably) very wary of government schemes and wary of the state healthcare system.

The Romanian government are selling off batches in effect to make some money on them before they expire.

It's grim, but it makes no sense for the vaccines to go to waste when we're desperate for immediate supplies.

I have seen people accompanied into Portlaoise anyway, a few people who needed help with mobility and one man who I presumed had autism or an anxiety disorder was also with a sibling or carer.
I can’t imagine it’s that unusual for some people to have a carer with them.

Two very positive days vaccine wise. Be interesting to see if the Romanian vaccines will be delivered in bulk or over a few weeks/months. Should fly through this now.

Great news if our Govt can conclude it : this would speed up the entire vaccination programme by weeks.

Yes good news. It will only speed things up by a couple of weeks though. We actually have enough supplies to give everyone a 1st dose by mid August (with the AZ and J&J). Possibly, this could bring it forward to End July but we need to have capacity to administer the vaccines - I guess the pharmacies good do it.

100% of adults with 1st dose by end of July would be incredible. Pubs to stay closed until October though, just in case

    :):)

Even the US has run into the same problems, believe it or not. The vaccination programme has slowed down considerably because tens of millions of people are refusing to take any vaccine.

Very good news! I wonder are we going after the almost out of date Israeli ones as well?

Just walk in with your sibling, they're not going to say anything. I've seen lots of elderly, pregnant and disabled being escorted in by family. If anyone asks just say you cant leave him/her on their own, but nobody will ask.

On both occasions I got jabbed at DIFE in Drogheda there were people there who were accompanied.. Some were in wheelchairs but others didn't appear to have mobility issues

If the supplies came through quickly enough, it could mean the 18-30 portal being opened for mRNA vaccines a couple of weeks ahead of the current scheduled date (whenever that actually is). Fingers crossed this goes successfully.

Hardly surprising for the USA. Shocked that it's happening in Europe though, expected Europeans to be more educated and civic minded.
