I'm a new EO but have some questions regarding mobility if anyone would help out please?

I saw it mentioned that you can/should put in an application for mobility long before you fulfil the two year service requirement - this is the case, yes? And what is the reasoning for applying early?

And is there any way of specifying a particular office if there are multiple in the same zone in one Dept.? For example, I am hoping to eventually end up working in Irish Aid, which is a specific office of the Dept of Foreign Affairs, but within the Dublin zone there are multiple offices for the DFA, including the passport office etc. Is there any way of being more specific in the application?

    Thank you!

Probably a stupid question but with mobility can you change departments ?

You should apply straight away because it can take some time to move up the list as only 1 in 8 EO positions are filled by mobility. Even though you may be ineligible for two years you will move up the list during those two years if you apply immediately. As far as I remember there is a sub menu for specifying different locations within zones for departments with multiple locations in that zone. This is to specify a different physical location/building, not for different sections of units within a location.

Is it possible that Dublin is being sorted first and then they move to regions?

Hopefully we will see some movement soon.

You could be waiting years for an offer especially if you live in Rural areas. Departments will look after their own staff first i.e DEASP and Revenue.

Yes they did that already, old list were closed to external applicants and legacy dates for mobility were formed using internal dates .The specialised mobility process will mean they will favour there own too in such departments rather than the list process.

Yes quite the response..was expecting the it will can take up to 12 months to get position but not that is cant be approved..have queried and they said it was decision by department head owing to budgets and headcount that was based off initial informal request in regards to returning so I've officially told them I want to return upon comp6of career date and will see what I get back

You might be in luck... I know people in the past who got paid something to stay at home and not work.

Dose anyone know if you move from non admin job in public sector to civil service do you get to keep your salary and increments
or do you start at the bottom of the scale for the civil service position if the job is not related?

I've heard of it, surely that's only if you can't be redeployed (e.g. your dept is in the middle of nowhere and there's nowhere with 50km to send you to, and now with wfh I think you can be move to an office further away).

If you're open to leaving the dept I'd just ask to be redeployed, you skip the mobility list if you're redeployed, depts have to take redeployed people before mobility people, cos otherwise they'd have nowhere to go!

I asked if there are no vacancies in parent department why cant it proceed to redeployment panel was told parent department has 12 months to find you a vancany...only then would it go to redeployment dept...they are just being arseholes I know they have people covering up to their tonsils and have 50%staff on mobility as well...just say no but here are your options..they will drag it out as long as they can

Awww that sucks I'd thought they'd be happy to be rid of you with redeployment ASAP if there's no room, once less person to worry about!

Probably want a union rep involved perhaps?

Hope you can get it sorted, they can't expect you to languish for months waiting for a job when you told them you're coming back no wonder people want out

Has anyone HEO/AO grade been offered mobility under the new scheme since the 8th? Or even heard of anyone that has been offered a transfer?

I do know of some that have received transfers, but this was before the 8th.

I know not everyone is on Boards but it does seem a bit strange that no one has heard anything??

I haven't heard a thing. And I haven't heard of anyone else getting offers either.

Don't think the jobs being related is relevant. You should transfer onto the nearest increment to your current salary.

If you are buying additional pension service, you won't be able to extend your current contract. You'd have to start again on a new contract, which may not be so attractive based on current rates.

Same here, I haven’t heard a thing - I would have thought that by the end of week 1 there would be some movement..... disappointing!

I took a screen-shot my place in the middle of may. Checked it today and only 2 locations out of 8 have changed and that was only by 1 place. It'll be slow!
