I see a 420d in snapper rocks regularly on my commute and it looks very well. I still wouldn’t order one in this colour.
I could be shot down here but I think low 40’s for that car with two year warranty and the kit it has is not too bad.

Low 40’s is great value for it and it has tiny millage.
You’d pay that for a Golf R of the same year which is half the car

It's not bad value but its been passed around like a stripper at a stag party at this stage, I don't know if I'd like to own it.

It’s immaculate and has tiny miles, stripper at at stag is stretching it a bit!

I disagree. If I was in the market I’d take a look at this. I think if you could get it for a couple of grand cheaper it’s a sound buy. The history as long as it’s not crashed wouldn’t bother me if it has a BMW warranty.
It has adaptive suspension, adaptive headlights, upgraded merino leather, digital dash, cheap tax for the performance and probably a service pack.
You’re about 100k for it’s a equivalent in the new model.
Black grille and exhausts, de badge it and you’d have some car.

Ok maybe my analogy was a bit harsh.

Agreed all fair points and it is value for money but it's not a bargain otherwise it would be snapped up by someone a long time ago.

Its now a previous generation 4-series that was already getting quite dated before it was recently replaced with an all-new model. The market for that car at 40k+ is small here. Very small.

The black one in Frank Keane's came into stock on a Wednesday and was sold on the Friday. The market is small for them alright but so is the choice for those looking for one. As proven in this thread, Snapper Rocks Blue is bit of a marmite colour with devided opinion that can be harder to sell than a traditional colour.

I'd be interested to see how many registered owners its had, since it has been bought and sold a few times. I know when I'm looking at a car, lots of owners in a short time frame can be off putting if you've no idea of the history. Not so much an issue in this case with a 2 yr warranty, but may have big repercussions come trade in time.

It’s hideous on a 4 series and I tend to like bright colours. It’s no coincidence that the majority of BMW’s here are some form of black and grey.

Having had a 435d and now the B58 in a M140i I’d absolutely love a 4 series which the B58 engine. I’m far more interested in the engine and how it drives than if it has the latest dash and screens. What I’d really like is a 340i Touring but they are even more rare. Unfortunately there is very little choice and the couple that have come along are just a bit above what I’m prepared to pay right now.

I don't know if I like that colour or not. Would it look better with a black grill and black alloys, maybe. Would folks pay mid 40's for a car with a physical handbrake?

I’d rather a handbrake over a button all day long.

Having had a number of cars with an electronic parking brake and now back in a car again with the old style handbrake, either is a non event for me combined with an auto gearbox. I only need to use the handbrake when the car is parked up. I wonder would people only buy a 40k car with a traditional gear selector or only settle for one with a fly by wire switch/dial which are now becoming popular? The only real advantage I can see is that they free up space in the centre but the general lack of buttons/switches in favour of more touchscreens is doing the same.

I've read on backroads that the snapper is sold and one of the guys there that enquired said he was the 6th enquiry.

Maybe but after being a BMW first car I'd always be reluctant as well as the fact it's been passed around the dealers. At a minimum this new owner will be its third since new.

We'll agree to differ on this one then. I'm sure whoever got it has bought a great car and one thing I do agree on is it is much better value than the likes of a Golf R of the same year. The money that hot hatches are commanding these days is crazy. Its nice to have a car that's practically not depreciating at the same time. That 140i of yours is in the same boat.

That car has bit of an interesting history alright. According to the motor tax site it was sold back in April then bought by the dealer again at the beginning of this month. New owner will be lucky number 3. The asking price has dropped very little in all that time, it's being hovering around the 43k to 45k mark since it was first mentioned in this thread.

    Could be number 4?
BMW, then sold in bolands, sold in Morrison’s in April and now resold by them.
There’s a story to be told there alright.

If you go setup an advert on carsireland.ie and stick the car's reg in, it populates some information including number of previous owners, which is showing as 2. I presume they pull that information from somewhere legit.

I remember looking at it online for 55k and this was before it was being sold by bolands. I can't remember what dealer had it then.

They own Cartell.ie since July 2020.

I think it dates the interior very badly. I'm much prefer the slicker center console with parking brake.

The interior of the f 3/4 series has dated very quickly alright but I’d say the digital display and the merino leather probably lift that one a bit.
In practice the parking brake isn’t an issue. I had one and rarely used it as the car locked up in park anyway.
I hope the new owner enjoys it anyway and holds onto it longer than the last few!

Jpe Achilles testing the new M5 CS. 0-60 in 2.75 sec....for a big saloon car!! That is just insane, and more than likely the last of the combustion powered M5 model we will see. Amazing car.
