I noticed a few new places today. Sorry if they were mentioned previously. Enable Ireland shop is now opened near the dail and a nail bar next door to it. Further up near buskers the cage that was going by Roscoe's is now an ice cream shop and there was a to let sign in the Coco cafe on shop street

How do you know planning permission was obtained. Such a sign is contrary to the Galway City Development Plan

Checking on the website of Galway Council might do it.

Did Irish Commercials quietly go out of their Oranmore location ? was passing there earlier today and signage etc seems to be gone, place had no signs of activity around it either

Yep, gone out of there for a while now. Don’t think they have moved, just closed.

There was a queue out the door last weekend but I can't imagine they can let too many in the shop at once even in the best of times :D

Checking on the website of Galway Council might do it.

The previous poster was expressing surprise that they "got away" with a "tacky" poster.

My response to him was why he/she thinks they obtained planning permission.

I was fully aware a search could easily be undertaken using the Local Authority e plan online planning system.

The sign in question flies in the face of the Galway City Development plan's objective regarding signs not being at such a height.

    It is quite unsightly

Are you saying planning permission was actually granted for this sign?

I hadn't used that resource before, very handy. Did a search there, no planning applications for that address since 2014.

Is this the site you are talking about?

What criteria did you use for the electronic partners search?

Any search I've tried for different places returns Nada.

Sysco Foods (Pallas Foods) are due to start using it in July as a depot.

Part of the Galway Plate on the Tuam Road has opened as a takeout deli/cafe.
    It's called the GP Deli.
    Food from Ground & Co.
Got some coffee there which was great. Not had food.

Very happy to see this. Slim picking for a handy decent coffee on the East side.

Galway Bay coffee on the Monivea Rd near Windsor is another great spot.

This is a thread for shops opening and closing, not for reviews of staff.
If you have issue with an establishment, take it up with them so they can change.

    Think it was mentioned before.
Windsor motors took over then consolidated into existing facility in Ballybrit

Planning was given about five years ago.
I find that roundabout to be too fast as it is, extra traffic won't help.

Pizza Max doing a menu drop in the area,
I've not been around but I assume they had a soft opening today.

Wasn't last weekend, though clearly getting close - some signage up. I'd expect a good deal of publicity when they do open, haven't seen it yet.

Yesterday the shutters were down and the place smelled of paint, but from the foyer I could see that areas was fully stocked. So looks like it will be opened shortly.
I would expect that they will be a big fuss about its opening.
