It would happen anyway, doesn't matter what. People can travel, people can meet outside, why the heck some chose to meet and pack on one or two streets? I'm probably missing something there. Rather have a BBQ with few friends and few beers, not having to piss on every corner and leave tons of rubbish around. But anyway it's just me thinking.

Where exactly should they meet though? Have a BBQ where exactly?

I'd say he thought he saw Tony driving down behind the cops.

Looks a bit like OCD, you mention some Tony in probably 97.5% of your posts.

Good post, first thing i saw when went online this morning was talk of baton charges etc so came on here to see what happened. From what i see one Guard seems to have been ott slapping someone on the backs of the legs, the only other video ive seen is the Gardaí clearing a street without resorting to heavy handed tactics yet here and on twitter etc Murphy and the usual crew are screaming about police brutality. I dont get it

I think it's confirmation bias with alot of them. It'd be like me not paying for my car parking then going around saying "I'm going to be clamped, I'm going to be clamped"

I come back after a few hours and say "See I'm clamped, I told you this would happen! Rat b@stards"

Then it's everything but me not paying "I was only.., I didn't think the sign.., are you sure you're right" basically Me and I the whole time, and anything that gets away from accepting the reality of the situation.

Thought Ireland is big enough without 5km travel limit. But could be wrong and we should all meet in Dublin, one street would be perfect.

I was kind of unsure how to feel about all this clamouring for more bins and public toilets, because it's just enabling these mini festivals in the city centre. These kinds of gatherings would be ok in most developed countries but I don't think we're socially mature enough (as seen in the videos) to handle socialising in numbers like this outdoors.
I think the council and the Garda are between a rock and a hard place here, but it's pretty sad that we seem to be unable to behave ourselves in public.
Pubs and restaurants serving outdoors isn't really going to change the situation much from Monday either, if anything it could make things worse, I know I wouldn't want to be eating outside around South William St with rowdy folk all over the place.

City is getting busy, like bees to a sticky fly catcher.

Not everyone has a car, not everyone has a garden, up until this week hotels and other accommodation has been closed so again I ask specifically where should people meet for this so called outdoor summer if you believe it's so simple?

Look, this is how baton charges generally work in this kind of situation...

The cops give a warning. Sensible heads retreat. People who fancy a scuffle stand their ground. The cops hand out a bit of a lashing. Everyone goes home happy. Mammies are distraught.

I LOLed at the Tiannamen analogy, that was a good one! Where is our Tank Man?

And people living in the city with their parents, want to meet friends from another part of the city, all public transport leads into town.

Most public transport also leads back out of towns too.

As excuses go it's fairly lame.

The most disturbing thing about that video is the lad in the pink shorts and cyan socks.

The absolute fúckíng state of him.

Were there many BBQs on South William Street, I couldn't see them in the photos/videos.

Far easier for people from different areas to meet in the middle of town though when all routes go through the city? Can you honestly not see why people might make that choice?

That's the point I'm making I was told instead of meeting in town people should just go have a BBQ, I was asking where they should do that?

So all the people gathering in the city centre should be gathering.......where?

Some might think if meeting up with friends a week earlier (for personal psychological reasons) were unavoidable, an extra 20 minutes travel would be worthwhile.

I thought all these people were meeting up in house parties and BBQs when the 5km restriction was in effect?

Suddenly that option has disappeared has it?

You know what, we managed to meet up with family the last two weekends in a row and surprisingly managed to do it without going to South William Street.

Shocker I know, imagine for a second that there might be other locations.

Is this anew iteration of the €9 meal?

You can only socialise while having a BBQ?

    I didnt see the memo.

Look these lads will throw anything out to justify the restrictions and the consequences of them. Now it's everybody must attend a BBQ instead of the €9 meal.

It does appear that some believe South William Street is the only place in the country where you can meet people.

I don't understand it myself, sounds a bit daft.

Hopefully they won't get BBQ idea on the next meeting. Playing with fire.

So now you want some sort of quota system, book slots for parks and beaches and South William Street?

I never suggested you said it.

It was a running theme on the thread when the stay at home guidance was in effect.

But instead labeling me a liar, maybe you could have a stab at answering the question instead?

I think if you read my posts carefully, you will spot I don't suggest that in any of them.

Nah I'll just go back to my not engaging with your ridiculous posts, your post absolutely implied I'd said it, if your happy with that pathetic level of posting good for you.
