    The (Sn)ker variant.

Tony should visit the halting sites like mother T visited the slums of India.

Too many people who see issues as a binary thing. Use any metaphor you like: on/off switch, blue/red pill, black/white team.
Maybe the real virus running through the world is a digital one, just 0 and 1.
Pick your team, kill the enemy, find their weak spot and attack.
No hesitancy at all. No qualms. Just let rip.
I have reached the ceiling of my tolerance and the interaction in this and other threads is mainly negative.
    Byebye..

What I am fed up with is those inventing imaginary enemies to rant at while the rest of the country gets on with receiving their vaccines and the process of getting back to normal

    I agree, stuff like

    ‘Explosive multiplier effect’
    'delta variant'

Etc. With just a trickle left in hospital, Tony could really move on instead of driving around looking for shaming opportunities.

The irony of making a big song and dance about travelling down to Limerick shouldn't be lost on people.

The virus is rampant amongst a particular demographic in Limerick. We all know this. Unfortunately, our society won't let us address that fact.

In the hospital I work in, our numbers were kept artificially high in March with admissions from this group. They have more co-morbidities as a rule and are thus disproportionately affected by the virus.
Instead of the CMO telling us this instead he's making out that Limerick is about to become Wuhan part 2.

It's a disgrace what's happening and is further evidence of the complete disregard by NPHET of the science/medicine behind the virus.

I see Tony is on the way to Limerick with SD this morning to meet with pal TD’s regarding Limerick case numbers. Putting my personal opinions on him aside for a moment, I take huge issue with an unelected advisor being involved in government meetings such as this where is is likely he will have an input greater than his position should dictate.

By all means advise, but being involved in government discussions such as this is a step too far for me!

Are you for real? Do you have any idea how many 'un elected' officials are involved in govt discussions and meetings every single day?

The key words are "such as this"

This is a publicity stunt, nothing more.

    Watch the politicians afterwards

"I got guarantees on XXX vaccination centre facility"

"assurances were given that extra funding for the hospital would be made available"

"I reiterated it is critical for hospitality to be allowed open"

    Etc. Etc.

Limerick is a small city, the community involved is tiny.... a perfect trial run for alternatives to lock down.

RAT could easily be provided in a couple of hours across a 1,000 or 2,000 people in the city....but, as we know, Tony Houlihan has only one gear, max lock down....it's been 16 months now, you'd wonder when the penny will drop?

    I know i keep forgetting...

We all need to pretend that every other country in the world is as wedded to hard lock downs as we are and it's the science....the science tells us we don't need RAT or Therapeutics...that's just far right anti science....I might actually start using a rosary bead to help me remember the different stages of science, each bead can represent a variant of concern!!!

    How would I know?

I'd imagine you'd have to ask experienced doctors that question...

Do you think it's believable that 15 months into this, not one expert practitioner has found success with a therapeutic anywhere in the world?

Don't be Silly, Tony should be down in Limerick treating people with therapeutics that don't exist. Something, something, Rat....

    Meanwhile.
The Department of Health has released the latest COVID-19 figures as vaccination numbers are within touching distance of three million

I keep forgetting what I'm dealing with here.....

Therapeutics have existed for a long time.

I don't know of a therapeutic that is effective to treat Covid....apparently no one knows the answer to that one....so how would I know.

But therapeutics have existed for a long time to treat a myriad of ailments...

Why mention them so as an alternative to mitigation? That's quite strange, I mean if you know them not to exist.

Anyway we have something far better.

Prevention is better than cure, etc.

What was the one they treated Trump with? It has a long name beginning with R and it seemed pretty effective on him? Redemsivir or something it was called? There are therapeutic drugs for sure but with viruses in general drugs never work as well as they do against bacterial or parasitic infections. Ever wonder why it’s only viruses that can cause these kind of pandemics?

Ya I think it was that one...an expensive one at that, he did mention he was talking Hydroxichloroquine as well previous to that....I have seen practicing doctors in Ireland and the US claim great success if used early on, Ivermectin has been used in a few countries as well, very cheap treatment looks to be used to good effect....but we know what happens to doctors who don't advocate hard lock downs or who publicly state they use therapeutics to great effect!!!

In the US the CDC told doctors not to use therapeutics, but the reputation of the CDC is eroding day by day....I believe the HSE issued similar messages to Irish GPs.

Interesting conversation here, have a look at the first 20 mins.

Makes no difference what the actual manufacturer of the drug say?

We should listen to AntiVaxBob55 instead?

Ok Boggles....lets find out what you are made of.

Who do you think are the grifters here...

The Drug manufacturer who have no way of making money from a drug they used to produce.

    or

A doctor, a leading expert, with decades experience who has used a very cheap drug to treat his patients with great effect.

Because he ain't the only person who has used that drug bear in mind....it's dirt cheap.

But you trust the Pharma company!!!

Does anyone else just despise Tony Holohan? Not like, he's a bit of prick but actually wish bad on him? I blame our spineless "leaders" unable to stand up to him just as much. The CMO has run this country into the ground and brainwashed people into some sort of defacto fascist state that is ok.

I'd love to be able say he has the good of the country at heart but he doesn't he has eaten himself with his "fame". He can literally dictate public policy and influence the highest leaders by using his twitter account. That's real power, democracy is overrated.

Because most viruses dont respond to medications. Hence why people still get colds. Conservative management is the mainstay of treatment for most viral courses. there's some witch doctors who say that Ivermectin or Hydroxychloroquine works but that's based on the lowest form of medicine.....their own experience! If they feel so strongly about it, they should organise peer reviewed, double blind, randomised control trials......but then they've already been orgainsed and shown to not work!

The Drug manufacturer who have no way of making money from a drug they used to produce.

They still produce it, all though the bulk of it gets donated, primarily to threat river blindness in developing countries.

Because he ain't the only person who has used that drug bear in mind....it's dirt cheap.

So there is a doctor using a drug that hasn't been authorized for use beyond clinical trials?

Can't wait to hear about this person, who are they?

He has a very dominating personality, very similar to an arrogant Bishop....he likes the publicity this have given him, he enjoys the power that comes with his position, I think this role has got the better of him, he has succumb to his own weaknesses....

I'll bet he went all fuzzy inside when he heard about the mural they painted of him in Dublin...probably drove over in the middle of the night to look at himself.

The wrong man at the wrong time...we'll see how bad this gets when they finally get about seeing to the nearly 1 million people on waiting lists.
