The only black cloud about is the perpetual negativity and confusion from RTE. Earlier today they had a headline 'Ireland may not be able to fully roll out travel certs before mid-August', but within that very same article it then says:

    Make up your minds lads!

    Looks like mid August?

Am I right to assume that if you are vaccinated and have the EU green pass, no test is required therefore this requirement won't apply?

So Spain says no test needed from UK - but if from the EU you do?

Countries have been applying their own requirements for ages. Sodium updates it's list every two weeks
Folks currently in Newry. Pub is saying no food until 24th. Happy to serve us outdoor pints though. Have we just found the wrong pub???

    Ask someone on the street

I wasn’t going until September anyway but it’s going to hugely affect flight prices

Spain is on U.K. amber list with U.K. gov saying essential travel only. Beyond property owners I’m not expecting to see a big influx of U.K. tourists here in Spain until U.K. updates it’s guidance

I saw that the current advisory for the UK Amber list detail those countries listed "that you shouldn't go to unless you have an absolutely compelling reason"

Any idea what will happen with people trying to leave the UK without a proof of a "essential reason"?

More like rubbish tbf. Please go back and read the very straightforward comment. But first let me spell it out slowly. The comment was Not about "SAGE". The added link was as a spoof about 'variants' to facemans own humorous comment about 'variants'. Get it?

Now if you really can't admit you're totally and completely wrong. I really really can't help you.

. You posted a Sky link about travelling that was about SAGE doomongering about the dangers of travelling.
I posted a reply to it with a link to twitter that had some of the scaremongering headlines that SAGE have come out with over the past. Is that fair enough? Are you still with me?

So you then reply to my post using the twitter posters to try and discredit my post because you didn’t like me poking holes in your post. That doesn’t change the fact SAGE predictions were false. That was my point so i’m not sure what you’re on about. You seem confused.

From the detail looks like each EU country will have flexibility on how it is applied.

Some countries may require full vaccination and a test, some will have either one or both depending

Maybe you did post it as a “spoof” to Faceman but You haven’t explained why you brought up the authors of the twitter post to try and discredit what i posted. Just pure arrogance.

Cheers, but the rules outlined on the UK website basically offer no mention of what the rules are for traveling from a non CTA country (Spain) and transiting through the UK from Spain to a CTA country (Ireland).

    Probably best not to travel.

Hopefully we don't do that, it fcuks travel for lots of people if there's tests needed (also likely will have people going feck the vaccination if they still need to get tests to do things)

Definitely. I'm getting my jab next week for the purposes of not having to take the rod up the nostril to fly. Wasn't going to bother but its a cost and hassle saver.

The vaccine is more than that. Can't believe people can still think in such a blinkered way!

The whole of Ireland just went orange in the ECDC maps, so we might see a lot more countries drop testing requirements.

Surely by July 1st those who are fully vaccinated will be allowed move freely between Ireland and elsewhere? How can they restrict that? Will it take jobs at Dublin airport to start going for them to act

I can't believe people still want to lock us down when vulnerable people have all been vaccinated and we have thousands of people out of work for no good reason. But there ya go.

Just spoke to a colleague in New York who had just "given in" and got the jab. The reason as because life was becoming too restrictive without it.

Ultimately taking a vaccine is a personal decision so the carrot (being able to travel without restriction etc.) is probably better than the stick.

Even when travel opens with the certs the government will make a balls of the cert rollout. It will be like the passport office not processing passports.

On RTE that vaccine cards for travel might not be issued until mid August, pushed back from late July.

Travel bubble with uk (via dublin) ruled out by the absolute clowns in FF despite a bubble existing from belfast from monday.

Daddy tony calls the indian variant a black cloud and just a few hours later mammy stephen says we arent allowed out to play (even if you are vaccinated)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,525 ✭✭✭kilns

Why can the rest of Europe open up and take the variants on their merits. While the very mention of a variant Ireland ****s the bed and shuts everything just in case something might happen with zero evidence

Jobs are Dublin airport are already going.

The only workers in full pay at Dublin airport are from the state sector - DAA, air traffic control, the guards fining people etc.

Everyone else is on severely reduced pay, PUP, short time working payments - plus they have the threat of inevitable redundancies hanging over them. Also very hard for aviation workers to get an equivalent job. You can't just wander down the road to a new employer. Thankfully I don't work in this sector but they have been treated appallingly.

Despite Covid certificates not being ready until Mid August (crazy by the way - here in Switzerland will be ready by June 7). What is to stop documents such as full vaccination bring presented or proof of negative tests etc to facilitate the free movement

Politicians succeed not by doing the right thing, but by not getting caught doing the wrong thing. This is a failure of journalism to put hard questions to Tony.

Most of the jobs in Dublin airport are actually retail and food services. So even though non essential retail can open there is not enough footfall in Dublin airport.
