In reality most EU countries have had an ECDC like approach to date, except our own, most for example refer to the maps and orange and red etc

I've also noticed as they reopen they have gradually being consolidating around similar language to the Green Cert even in advance of it being adopted

What do you mean an "ECDC approach"?

Neither Portugal, France or Italy etc have been observing the existing EU traffic light system

At best it can be said ' most countries have imposed their own stipulations regarding travel

Well more precisely Germany, Netherlands and Belgium that I have experience of, they all required testing and home quarantine until recently but used the ECDC map to determine who had to and not. More recently they are referring to vaccinated tested or recovered.

Hang on this cannot be right, they are asking for trouble surely.

Spain announced today (Friday 21 May) that British holidaymakers are to be allowed into the country from Monday 24 May. They will no longer need to provide a negative Covid test and they will not need to have proof of vaccination.

I know i’m not going to be very popular on here saying this and my apologies if it offends anyone . I think ( in the short term until more are vaccinated) people should only travel if fully vaccinated for now.

That would cut off travel for anyone with kids, which would be rather inconvenient given that they're off all summer.

Did I make any claim as to any veracity? So not really sure what you're lecturing about.

It was a bit of humour. Sorry if that offends you.

As for the Twitterer- Oh I'd say its very important you check who is making claims before posting links like that.

Seems fairly good on the old conspiracy theories tbf. As for this :pac:

Please note i said short term until more are vaccinated not forever. Problem is if outbreaks occur between un vaccinated travellers the fines could quickly return at the airport.

I’m not suprised by this, southern countries hugely depend on tourism, can’t afford another dead summer. Make is as easy for tourists as possible, the pandemic is under control, we must be near 50% with a jab by now.

I wasn’t offended or trying to lecture anyone. Your post is pure nonsense, what on earth are you on about? My OP was about SAGE . It doesn’t matter if mother of godor any other idiot posted it but the twitter post was correct. Sage are constantly doomongering. So your link doesn’t surprise me that SAGE will have a pop at travel. You’re waffling now.

That's one way to look at it but the other way is that Spain needs tourists from the UK and needs them ASAP or else it will destroy their economy, and I don't think I need to explain the impact of society that would have.

'Tourist expenditure also fell dramatically last year. Visitors spent €19.7 billion in 2020, down from €91.9 billion in 2019, a drop of 78.5%. This has had a significant effect on the Spanish economy. In 2019, the tourism industry accounted for 12.4% of Spain's gross domestic product (GDP).'

Well OK, but there is currently no way to prove your vaccination status that isn't trivially forgeable, and that problem will only be solved with the introduction of the digital COVID certificate, and that initiative specifically prohibits discriminating against people on the basis of their vaccination status.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me, the UK has a current incidence rate of something like less than 30 cases per hundred thousand.

Meantime, over 16 million Spanish people have received at least one Covid vaccine. A roll out that began with the elderly and most vulnerable like here.

With that cohort protected and the rollout advancing well, I think their approach is absolutely fine

The fines haven't gone away yet and I'd be surprised if they were gone from June. A mixture of the HSE hack and the variant will be enough for them to claim an extension is needed I'd say. Travelling with the appropriate tests is fine for travel now imo.

So Spain says no test needed from UK - but if from the EU you do?

Is there any clear indication of what will happen re travel insurance. Say one of the kids test positive while out in Spain or before we leave?

What so a plane full of unvaccinated & untested people from Bolton sets off to sunny Spain where they are welcomed with open arms. Mixing with people from the rest of Europe, waiters, hotel staff and everyone else for 2 weeks.

What damage could a few plane loads like that do in a couple of months ?

I didnt quote you re SAGE. I quoted faceman. You jumped in with four left feet.
And yes its a joke on facemans comment / not meant to be taken seriously. Sorry you can't understand that even where that was pointed out.

But your correct - you're endlessly waffling. Maybe better put down that shovel before you fall head first into the hole you're digging for yourself ...

One of Mick's cheap flights booked to England at the end of June for a weekend away. From my research it looks like I won't need a negative Covid test on arrival there but will need one on the way back. Can anyone confirm or contradict?

Furthermore if I take a test in Ireland before I depart at Dublin airport will that be valid for the return 3 days later?

You’re hilarious :pac: Maybe you should go to a computer class to learn how to qoute the correct poster when on a forum then? You qouted my posts to my replies not Faceman’s. It seems that you are the one digging the hole. You didn’t like it when i pointed out your post was typical SAGE doomongering with their inaccurate predictions. You then resort to attacking the twitter authors to try and get out of the hole you’re digging. News flash that doesn’t make the claim less true. They are genuine SAGE headlines. Nice one :D

Btw i don’t follow any of those on twitter i found the link elsewhere .
