Yes especially on the last point.
I have never heard him once admit that anything he has said or done was wrong or a mistake.
He even refused to apologise at one of the press conferences when a journalist brought up something about his past mistakes ( which cannot be mentioned here).

I have heard Glynn apologise on several occasions when he has said something that was later taken up wrong etc. Tony is incapable of admitting any mistake.

Just on Tony's arrogance and unwillingness to admit any fault.

A couple of clips from yesterday's press conference which really show this up. He really comes across as a bully when challenged.

Literally that we mindlessly copy what other countries do so we will probably eventually recommend that vaccinated people dont need masks, like the CDC just has.

The CDC only recommended that people fully vaccinated (after 1 shot of J&J vaccine, 2 of all others)don`t need to wear masks outdoors.
For all other situations, from what the had to say, it looks as if they are going down the road of favouring vaccine passports.
Would you be in favour us doing the same ?

Tony and the NPHET gang must be sighing with relief this morning on the news of the Indian “variant” think the guy is perversely turned on at the thought of being able to plunge us into level 5 again.

They've stalled the reopening in Wales due to concerns over the Indian variant. Is that down to Tony and NPHET too?

    The midfield is compromised

Someone broke in at half time and damaged our midfielders

Ranting lunatic George Lee talking about the HSE

The middle class is in the relegation zone two points below Ipswich Town. Restrictions on house-building and lockdowns on trade haven't helped.

If this Indian Variant gets here then god knows what they could say

It’s already here. I think there’s at least 41 cases recorded so far. It’s not all doom and gloom. The vaccines are effective against it as the evidence is showing in HCW’s in India. Worse case scenario it might delay opening up in the UK by only weeks ( i have heard)and in the grand scheme of things what’s a few weeks at this stage.

Few weeks gets turned into a few months quite easily

No that haven’t they’re still on track to proceed with opening, they had planned to open more earlier on their roadmap but decided not too.

No, not at the rate the vaccines are being rolled out. Uk could still be on track for June. If it goes into months despite all the vaccinations we’d never open up at all

Somehow I think if the same happened here there would not be the understanding being extended to Wales on possibly delayed opening.

We would be the worsest in the world.

The ‘Ah sure, it’s only a few weeks’ mentality is what got us to where we are at the moment. A year plus of restrictions.

I do agree that has been the case until now but things are a lot different now. Vaccinations are being rolled out so if there are any delays ( there may not be, it’s worse case scenario) they will be short term this time.

By June/July the UK and ourselves will be fairly vaccinated by then. The indian variant “ maybe” more transmissable it’s not really 100% confirmed or how much more it is. It may end up being no more than a rebranded UK variant that might come dominant . Cases are still quite stable in the UK.

    Could not agree more.

The danger of hospitals becoming overwhelmed in Ireland passed in January when the HCWs and most vulnerable were vaccinated.

Work colleagues of mine in their early 50’s with no underlying conditions are being vaccinated next week, a cohort that would likely need a test to know they are actually sick with Covid.

But here we are, a few more weeks is grand, will we say 10 more weeks just in case?

It’s important to keep these doctors and virologist’s in the spotlight, they aren’t letting go easily that’s for sure

To clarify i personally don’t think that’s going to happen. I still think things will open up on track.

Somehow people like Luke O’Neill, Tony Holahan and Leo Varadkar have become the rockstars of society. The adoration of politicians, journalists and healthcare professionals has become wholesale. Definitely at a weird point in society.

Right but don't the Irish government still deem it illegal to travel to foreign climes without a reason?

You can go to the UK and then escape to an EU country I suppose.

It's funny Varadkar mentioned the CDC recommendations that we typically follow....half of the States (for political reasons mostly) aren't paying any attention to them and are doing perfectly fine.

It's clear the vaccines are doing what we all needed them to do...the variants are just the stick to beat us all into taking one...they'll throw in a load of technical information like R numbers and numbered strains and such, call it "science" and it's like chicken feed for the folk that think those numbers actually mean anything.

There was a load of variants floating around last summer when we had no vaccines and there wasn't a jot of pressure on our health system.

Quite a few European countries did similar last Summer only to have tourists scrambling to get flights home a few days after arrival due to rising numbers.

Good luck to them and I hope it works out for them, but as off last Sunday the 9th. Portugal had just 34.4% of their adult population having recieved a first dose of a vaccine.
It doesn`t seem they are extending an access all areas to U.K. football supporters attending the up-coming UEFA games for whatever reason though ?

Well whether we like to admit it otherwise there's a global pandemic on atm. So yeah thats sh!te that's fairly weird tbf.

And surprise surprise the above and others are in the news because for good or bad they have to deal with the media on a regular basis.

No idea where you get the "wholesale adoration' angle though - they criticism they get is everywhere. And yup thats allowed

What isn't is the ongoing targeting by those who've little else to be doing amongst other things than issuing death threats on social media etc.

The Spanish variant changed that pretty quickly as soon as it made it`s way here.

Funny thing is that Hooligan is really positive and telling people to get out and do stuff .
He is criticising hospitals and nursing homes for not moving on and let people in

I don't remember hearing anything about that (not saying it didn't happen).

Fleeing the microbes from country to country must be stressful. Why leave your rain-soaked cottage in Wesmeath in the first place?

I'm looking to go abroad this summer. Hopefully I won't be stepping over dead bodies in Lisbon. Maybe it might be safer to go to an actual war zone? Then you only have to dodge stray bullets.

Dr. Fauci is telling vaccinated people to de-mask.

    Who’s issuing death threats?

I’m pretty Tony could come out tomorrow and say everyone has to hop around on one foot to stop the spread of Covid and most people would do it. Unfortunately, there’s a massive cohort in this country who hang off the government’s every word and are obsessed with case numbers, variants the lot. The media fawn over them to, we must have one of the most compliant media in the western world. I’ve yet to hear one Irish journalist ask the CMO tough questions about destroying people’s livelihoods etc.

I'm seeing a large scale ditching of restrictions

Anecdotally anyhow, people seem to have moved on and can't be bothered anymore

Prob since the important cohort got vaccinated

It is not normal human behaviour to travel around wearing a mask

The people saying it is normal are the abnormal ones

If you are talking about the the CDC advice that is for vaccinated people outdoors. A bit more complicated is their advice on wearing masks in other areas. It appears they may be leaning towards vaccine passports for no need of wear masks in those areas.
