Do you think we should bring in a curfew here to keep in line with some other European countries?

What effect might a curfew have in a rainy country when everywhere offering shelter past 10pm is shut?

I assume we would get the same get out of curfew cards for workers etc.

If it means opening restaurants then yes why not, **** all to do in the evening anyway. What difference would it make, everything is closed.

Have a look at the rest of Europe.

I was back playing football at 8pm yesterday evening and didn't see a drop or rain. French people were under stay at home orders from 7pm till 6am.

Come on now - you know that your posts yesterday got a bit debunked. Everyone wants to know - what country were you talking about?

Like paddyisreal I believe it was, looks like you weren`t keeping up either.

I did that yesterday,it was Sweden. Funnily enough the poster who was in favour of "the science" of the Barrington Declaration natural herd immunity, and anyone else that appeared to be interested the day before either exited quickly stage left or like yourself and paddy missed it.
Surprising seeing as both of you just a day before seemed very interested

I admin I don't go to restaurants much every in the evenings but I do like to be allowed leave the house after 7pm even just for a walk.

Would you prefer restaurants open till 7pm and then be forced to stay at home?

Is it actually the choice you are presenting?

Name a country in Europe that is opening indoor dining after us, now I know you have had trouble with the question before so don't expect an answer.

You do ask a lot of questions for someone who answers very few you are asked and you then accuse me not answering yours.
You have no clue as to what metric all these countries are, according to you, all opening at the same stage on the same day are using.
You sound like a lad that would jump off a cliff because somebody else simply thought it was a good idea tbh.

Fair point, I believe you can still go for a walk. It's not all of France I believe. It will 9pm next week. What about Portugal, Germany, Spain Denmark Belgium.

So no answer again? Its not looking good chum. Perhaps disprove with some metrics of your own - here's a hint there aren't any.

    Good chat. Enjoy your night.

You too, I respect and take at face value how much you care about others. If you do choose to venture outside past curfew carefully away from other people, please enjoy that awesome feeling in your heart, that blood rush, its called 2019.

I was just trying to illustrate that every country has different rules by using France as an example thats all.

As I said before of all restrictions a curfew in my opinion is one of the harshest. No point having a restaurant open when you have to be home by 7pm.

This is the first week where things really feel like they are getting back to normal. I hope in a few weeks this thread will be redundant.

I hope so too, I think just the over cautious approach here is ott, we were told we had to protect the health system, we did that, now we have to reach vaccination targets which nobody actually knows what they are.

    You better tell him that.
He appears to believe there are, but he cannot make up his mind who should follow them or when. France and Germany apparently are going with the U.K. data, but we should ignore that and go a few weeks earlier just because.......
He did appear to have another metric based on some sort of league table based on something to do with restrictions, but tbh I couldn`t make much sense of that either.

Any opinion yourself on when indoor dining should happen or are you just waiting for NPHET's advice.

Nope I read the earlier posts and that's a terrible misrepresentation of what was actually said.

EU countries are moving quicker than Ireland, despite having the Kent spike later. This is probably due to vaccines. Ireland is substantially less vaccine hesitant than much of the EU. Therefore Ireland is a laggard.

Answer questions for someone that is so all over the place that they thought April/March was pre vaccines.
That Germany and France are following the U.K data but that we should ignore it and open a few weeks earlier, or just forget about it and everybody open on a phased basis based on some league table based on restrictions.

You don`t even know yourself what your questions are. How you expect anyone to answer anything from the above really is beyond me.

    Have a good night.

Again just my own opinion if cases\hospitalizations did start to rise in March and April when the vaccine rollout was accelerating there was a risk we could lose the summer. As we saw before it takes a few weeks for things to increase and a few months to improve.

It's also worth noting we need the healthcare staff to be assisting with the vaccine program and not assisting Covid patients in hospital.

We are in a fairly good spot now and and can look forward to a good summer.

Covid 19 is a very intelligent virus. It knows if you're staying the night in a hotel, so will leave you alone if you have a meal and pint in the hotel restaurant. It prefers to attack those who like to have a meal and pint in a non-hotel restaurant and go home to their own beds after.

Nope. Ireland is opening based on the same vaccination level as the U.K. for the same stage.

Ok, we are getting somewhere. So by your reckoning when we reach nearly 70% we should open up indoor dining in line with the UK.

However, Tanáiste Leo Varadkar has cast doubt on lifting the inter-county travel ban in early June.

The Taoiseach has already said the reopening of hotels and B&Bs may be permitted in June.

Mr Varadkar said: “To anyone who is booking fair enough but make sure that you look at the terms and conditions and that it’s refundable if inter-county travel is not possible.

Might want to look at the date of that article.

And also at the fact that inter county travel is already back

    Absolutely.

If it allows business and social retail to reopen weeks faster, or months if we actually did it when the rest of Europe did.

I’m not following the logic behind defending keeping all aspects of retail and social life shut all day and night for 5 months is a fantastic idea compared to closing them a few hours early for a few weeks.

But logic was never involved in Ireland’s covid plan, that’s the beauty of the argument.

Not buying that. I can just see the frothing on here if restaurants were open but we had a 7pm curfew.

Would it not be better than the alternative of none of them open.
