You need the seai grant number from dealer. Its the number they are given when they apply for your grant for the car. Just ring them up, its no problem for them.

Our Zappi2 has just been replaced, but a different problem. Hope yours arrives a bit quicker, ours took almost 8 weeks due to Irish customs. Had to pay €131 before it was released.. (Myenergi to reimburse us)
Just got a DHL shipping confirmation from them.

maybe they have the tax stuff sorted

Dealer says no grant number until car is in the country.

Then you have to wait :(
Now another hurdle is getting the grant payment processed without the car as you need photos of the car reg etc

My neighbor got his as he bought a Kona and the garage we’re doing the charger so I’d say they took the hit until payment time.

    Zappi RCD problems
I've had a few random RCD trips on my zappi (once a month approx).
Seen a few others with the same problem on facebook.
Contacted them and its a known fault so they are sending me a new unit.
Just in case anyone else is having the problem.

I had same issue, got a replacement just before Brexit finished (or started!)
They should have issued a recall, rather than allowing the unit to let people down.

MyEnergi mentioned to me that due to the semiconductor shortage at the moment they are experiencing delays in getting products out to people. Could be a generic excuse for shipping delays or could be real enough, who knows...

Here are the steps to set up scheduling, courtesy of Mark in epower.ie:

    1. From the home screen, press the down arrow until "Eco+" is selected
    2. Press the menu button (The three lines button on the left)
    3. Press the down arrow until charger settings
    4. Press +
    5. Press the down arrow until boost timer
    6. Press +
    7. Input time, durations and days
    8. Press the menu button (The three lines button on the left)
    9. Make sure default mode is "Eco+"

To disable scheduling, select "fast" on the home screen

I'm glad to confirm that it works on my VW ID.4 :)

Was just told of a new Zappi & EO coming out later in the year. Probably not news to some but a company who specialise in installing chargers told me that.

You don’t need the car grant number to apply for the charger grant. I left it blank as it was optional, got approved no problem.

Correct, you'll need to include a copy of your vehicle registration cert when claiming the money if going this route

    https://www.adac.de/rund-ums-fahrzeug/tests/elektromobilitaet/wallboxen/

ADAC(German RAC/AA organisation) tests wallboxes available on the open market and rates them 1 to 5 with 1 being best.

German text which I'd guess you can translate in your browser.

This is a german youtube video which shows that they were actually intensively reviewed and it isn't just a puff piece.

At the end they started taking the covers off some of them to look inside.
Juice Booster was very highly rated.
There was one in the middle which used very conventional looking parts that looked like real quality and could be repaired using off the shelf parts if it ever went faulty.
    Some were more modern.
Anything reviewed could be bought without buying the car so the VW charger could be bought by anyone in Germany and used for another manufacturer's EV.

Any users of the Andersen A2 charger on here ? Was wondering about peoples experiences.

    https://andersen-ev.com/products/andersen-a2/

They are pricey yes- but everything is discreetly hidden away, and many of the chargers I've seen on many walks, are fairly grim looking, and I just don't want to be looking at something, that resembles - an untidy garden hose reel, in the front, or side of the house.

The Andersen does look well. Much better than zappi.

its expensive and big but of the tethered options its the only one i could look at personally.

Thats why i went for an EO untethered, its at the side of the house behind rain gutter so cant be seen.

Hi all, I realise this is the 10,000th time this has been asked but hopefully somebody won't mind a quick answer.

I'm getting an ID.3. My wife has an Outlander PHEV. We have a semi-detached house built in 2008 and the fuse box is right in the corner beside the front door so no particular complexity from that perspective. We have one electric shower.

I don't have solar PV and, while it's something I may look at in the future, I can't currently justify the expense so I'm not taking that into account as a serious factor when choosing an EV charger.

I like the idea of app integration. It's not a necessity but it seems like it would be handy to have, although feel free to enlighten me if I'm mistaken on this.

I'm looking to just get this done in as easy a way as possible so have no interest in sourcing a charger and finding an electrician etc.

With all if that said, what are people's recommendations? Electric Ireland have a tethered EO Mini Pro 2 for €600 after the grant. Is this a decent option? Will it work for me?

I've been in and out of this thread for a few years and remember reading about priority switches and stuff and that this wasn't needed with the Zappi because it automatically balances the load. Looks like the EO can do that with a CT clamp, which I'm sure can be added.

But I'm open to any suggestions or recommendations. I just want something that will be easy to get fitted, that is reliable and works for both of our cars (both type 2 so should be fine, right? )

    Thanks a million.

You wont go far wrong with the eo mini pro, just make sure it has the ct clamp. From what i read you need to contact electric ireland to make sure it is the pro version. It is a good deal and you wont have to faff about. For what you want the zappi is too expensive and problematic for some id3 owners.
I went with the sync ev with ct clamp, very similar to the eo mini pro.

Zappi has no issues with ID cars unless you have solar, and myenergi are working on a fix for it. Any EVSE (charger) that integrates with solar has its own problems so worth reading the manufacturer product forums to see what other owners are experiencing.

The lcd screen on the Zappi is handy as you can see exactly what's happening in real time without needing to use yet another app. You can set the charging timer directly on the Zappi itself which I prefer to using an app or setting it on the car. I've used this for both the ID.4 and Leaf with no issues.

For all smart EVSEs make sure your wifi is good enough so that the charger can connect to it to allow you to use the related app.

EO mini pro 2 does looks good, are you tied into Electric Ireland for your electricity if you go with it?

Thanks. It seems to be a standalone purchase, just another side to their business. Makes sense, too; a big business with brand name recognition and they just put their price right there on the site. Most other EV fitting companies that I've seen have a range of options and you need to contact them to even get a notion of a price.

the tethered EO for 600 is the pro version so you get the load balancing etc, it works great no reason not to go for it, personally i have the untethered as its neater but thats a personal preference ( with the pure ev you probably only charge once a week, i guess wuth the PHEV its daily so tethered makes more sense)

Yeah, that's exactly it. I know for a fact that my wife will just run the thing on petrol if the charging is not as handy as just pulling the cable around - and her boot tends to be full of who knows what so grabbing her charging cable is never even that easy 😂

I would rather the neat, untethered approach myself but I think it's a case of function over form in this instance.

I got it through voltaev.co.uk they were very helpful with advice, i was originally getting the zappi, but they rang and told me there was a delay on them as they were trying to update software on there latest model. They said the sync e v or the eo mini pro can do almost all of what the zappi can do. They forgot to add ct clamp to order and added it for free after a reminder.

You know what, I think you're right. It uses a type 1 - type 2 cable to charge at public chargers. I hadn't even thought about that.

Looks like it's untethered so! Might get her a spare cable to leave handy for the charger or something. Thanks a million.

There's adapter cables that can connect a Type2 tethered to a Type1 car, here's an example below

    https://cablesforcharging.com/product/type-2-type-1-adapter/

Not endorsing that option as I've never used them, plus I'm not sure if the Type 2 end is the right plug, but it's an option

Why are earth rod a requirement in UK and not here? is it because there is already one installed on Irish homes?

Not as straight forward as that, John Ward explains it pretty well but its in depth.

Mostly to do with being able to detect if there is a broken earth connection somewhere, And putting an earth rod in, the EV charge point has its own Earth rod, completely separate from the houses' earth connection.

*far more complicated than that but thats the general jist of it.

I’ve an ID3 and I got the Wallbox pulsar Plus. I got it from carcharger.ie I originally got the details when I got the EasyGO tag. It is tethered, works with the power shower etc and the app seems to work for me. You can schedule a charge with the app as well or in the car. I’m quite happy with it as I get ~48km/hr on it when I get ~72km/hr on the public chargers. I paid for it on a Thursday and has it installed the next Monday (won’t guarantee that for you, but so far am quite happy with it). I can let others chime in if they’ve seen issues with it, but I’ve had it for a few weeks now with no issues.
