I enquired about the 440i and it's sold already. As expected the cost to change figure would have been comical. They said they got the full asking price for it and were very firm on that price. Looks like there is little to no discount on anything that's fun or fast now as they are in short supply and don't stay on forecourts long.

Bazz I would suggest you skip another f series car and test drive a g20 at some stage. They are a huge leap from the f series of 3/4 series in terms of quality and the chassis is way stiffer with much better handling and ride. Tech is way ahead too. A 330i m sport might be right up your street.

I don’t know what to do!! Lol, I’m stuck between the 128ti and the upcoming i30N facelift. I like interiors so bmw wins that by a mile but I’d like a fun hot hatch that sounds good and lively. Was geared towards the manual of the i30N but the bmw only comes in auto.

Not a bad predicament to be in! Did you get to test drive a 128ti?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31 Byrnesy919

Unfortunately no, I’d say there are very little in the country atm, so many dealers don’t know who to choose. Was originally looking at a gti or club sport but the reviews are dire

Being honest, I was only curious what it would be costing me, the figure they were giving me for my car put an end to that irrespective of whether the other car was sold or not. Used prices of cars have increased because of Brexit and availability but some dealers seem to be trying to make hay while the sun shines by still offering low trade in prices.

Even though it's dated now I still like the design of the F36 and the opportunity to own a rare 440i was tempting before these sort of cars are gone for good. I'll stick with the 430d for a while yet anyway.

Interior of g20 is very nice and great quality - huge step up from the f series. If I’m not mistaken a lot of the equipment is the exact same as x5, 8 series etc

Love the exterior of old 4 series still but the interior has dated very badly, much worse than my f10.

In the other thread only a matter of hours ago you had yourself in confused knots over the pricing of the GTI. Where are the “dire” reviews?

It’s all about the engine in a 440i, it’s an absolute peach.
As for the fact that they interior is a bit dated, it still looks good and works well and I don’t get the fascination with the newer car interiors and their screens.

I’ll rephrase it to ‘mixed’ reviews. A few hate the front end, I personally think its okay but not as nice as last gen but all other sides look better. Matt watson thought the interior was very cheap with alots of hard plastics but the overall driving experience seemed good reviewed.

Ill just have to see one in person me thinks

Presume the i30n is circa 10k cheaper?

Any link to where you see the new i30n pricing?

I can't find it on the Irish website.

Yeah, the engine is the main attraction of the 440i for me too. The F32/F36 4 Series were still better handling cars than the F30/F31 3 Series and I prefer the old school analogue dashboard to the newer digital screens every where for the sake of it these days. I like my car tech but it doesn't have to be latest and greatest, after all I still keep my music collection on the car's internal hard drive rather than using the likes of Spotify.

There's very little information on it. Email Hyundai Ireland and/or Mooney's and they'll put you on a distribution list for when more information comes available. A salesman in Mooney's said it would be around 45/46k.

Thanks, will do, it will need to be around that with dct if they want to attract customers from VW

I don't think Hyundai Ireland have much interest in selling the N models here. They are after market share so more interested in shifting Tucsons. Of course our ridiculous taxes pushing prices up don't help either, we can thank the greens for that.

A lad on backroads has one and his ownership thread makes for interesting reading. The fuel consumption on them is pretty poor. Might not be a consideration for many but just one to be aware of.

Yeah good point, how many of us have the skills or the balls to even push these things. I'd wager you'd push your 330e to same speeds as you would an m3 if you were so inclined.

If you configure an i30n line online it gives 3 options of trim including the fastback, and they cost around 45k so has to be the n performance at that price. Finance isn't as good as others at 3.9% though

I'd guess it's prob ok if you drive like a granny but the exhaust etc prob encourages driving it in a lower gear than necessary. I'd be poppin and crackin everywhere if I had one, defo a consideration as next car.
