Here's a similar one in Belfast. VRT calculator says 11.5k including NOx charge so about 42/43k driven down.

This 2018 is a bit more but lovely car too.

The Spirit car is fairly priced if you don't want hassle and have a trade in.

I did pretty well considering that 2018, 3 years old now, is £1500 more than I paid for mine last year when it was 2 years old.

42k for the 2017, I think I'd still go with the stuarts one. You'd get a bit off after haggling and its still better specced and very low miles. Pity about the black interior but with the sunroof it wouldn't be so dark.

Bazz26.... has your name all over it. Sure you're a returning customer at this stage!

Haha, no chance of that happening.

That has to have been ex BMW U.K. car I’d say. Exceptional spec.
Are they a good crowd to deal with Bazz?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,609 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Yeah I found them decent to deal with, they are main Land Rover and Mazda dealers. They sorted the few minor things I spotted with the 530d prior to me collecting it and they gave a decent 12 month warranty which I never had to use with the car. They seem to import some non regular stuff like that 540i from time to time.

That's a depressing read. The M340i touring was on the shortlist for my next car but maybe that's too wishful thinking living over here. :(

I saw an M340i touring over the weekend, absolutely class machine.

Nice! Was looking at a ton of reviews of it, the S4 Avant (pre-diesel) and the "AMG" C43 estate also. The M340i seems to come out on top most of the time.

I got a spin in a 2020 M340i saloon lately. Absolutely serious car. So much so that it's hard to imagine why you'd go for an M3 over one.

I imagine they’re a pretty rare car in Ireland. Does it live in the mid west?
I’d guess an easier car to live with than M3 day to day too.

In the general direction alright, not my place to say where precisely but it's more west direction than mid west. I felt my Golf R seemed slow after being in the passenger seat. The adaptive suspension in it is a marvel. It's a real split personality car, cruiser and bruiser all in one. I'd love one in a few years to come. Touring might be the way to go if space is needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,834 ✭✭✭carsfan2

Yeah I have to say adaptive suspension was something I never would have been bothered about before but it is a revelation in the 330e.
Comfortable and supple but hardly any body roll.

I was in the same car as Hooch (mutual buddy!).

Very serious machine alright and incredibly subtle too. A modern-day sleeper. Pretty much every option box ticked. It even has an electric towbar (He didn't know it had this until it landed here). To most people its another 320d M-Sport, at least until you hear it roar into life! He imported / VRT'd it before the end of 2020, I think it would have been hugely cost prohibitive if he'd waited until January...

M135i with the m performance kit. Rear spoiler is a bit much but not bad in red.

    ...and a red 128ti.

Is another 50bhp or 60bhp and xdrive worth 11k more?

Probably not, but similar jump from the golf tcr to the R, if not, more.

This guy a bit ambitious with the price, but the colour is stunning on this 440i. He does a pretty good video on the car in fairness to him. It sounds sweet with the upgraded exhaust. I never heard of Mexico blue but its apparently a €4000 option lol!

I've seen that colour on M cars but never a non M car before. Some of the optional Individual colour paints are mad money alright. Price is strong but nice car all the same.

That 440i was for sale a few months ago before it was taken down.

I was looking at the photos in the ad for the M135i and thinking, that's not a bad looking car, until I got to the front and that rank grill. It ruins the design for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,446 ✭✭✭Wailin

Yeah its a bit of a pig alright.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,834 ✭✭✭carsfan2

The red 128ti they have looks better than the tarted up m135i in my opinion.
In general I think the 1 series actually is ok looking in the metal. It will be interesting to see if Bmw do much with the lci facelift whenever it comes.

That 440i has been for sale on and off a good bit.
Great spec but I’m not sold on the colour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,176 ✭✭✭Top Dog

The grille wouldn't bother me too much, but the red insets and stitching on the seats of the 128 look much better, particularly on a red car. The blue in the 135 just doesn't work on a red car in my opinion.

    Bob Flavin's M4 Competition review:

Fast forward about 5 mins if you don't want to get depressed about VRT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,834 ✭✭✭carsfan2

Just watched that review. It was not one of his better efforts.
I agree entirely about the scandal that is vrt but bringing Bertie Ahern into it is irrelevant. He didn’t think it up, the government officials do, the same as NOx tax etc. Pascal didn’t work that one out.
Picking a high performance Uber expensive car like the M4 will not persuade any greens or non car enthusiasts that vrt is a burden on the ordinary motorist. He should do a video on vrt alone and use run of the mill cars to demonstrate his argument.

As for his actual review of the car, it was schizophrenic.
One minute it’s not special enough then he would buy one, then it’s too ordinary in comfort mode then it’s brilliant.
For a guy doing it for a living he can be pretty short on the basic facts about the cars he drives and this was like that.

He never even showed us the all important boot space which Mark would never leave out!

Mark got given out to for leaving out bootspace lately!!!
(Was an m3? And he's done the 3 series already)

My comment on the boot space was tongue in cheek! A nod to that criticism.
