    They're all here:

SI 212 is the latest with the 10 May date in it, to be read in conjunction with SI 168.

    Cheers.

From my reading and I could very well be wrong as I wouldn't be familiar with such things, it looks like a lot of restrictions are due to end tomorrow. That would make it more likely that they'll renew it than say the if it was just the €2,000 fine itself. Any idea where I'd find the actual legislation that mentions the actual fine of €2,000 specifically?

That's true and I'm pretty sure pools aren't open yet in France (I can't believe it's June in a few weeks- it probably is too close for comfort). Less restrictions will make a much more enjoyable holiday. He's probably right on this one :pac:I would go in September but the campsite is quite North (Vendee). We went once last week of August and weather was iffy

Weather is normally savage in Vendée in August. You were unlucky.

I didn’t realise that it’s law that people have to quarantine at home regardless of what country ( including the UK) you have travelled from even if it’s not on the MHQ list vaccinated or not. Will that ever be lifted? If not what’s the point?

We have RTE this morning once again headlining on the RTE app about scariants, India and vaccines that might not work “ A Covid-19 variant spreading in India is more contagious and may be dodging vaccine protections” . It’s getting tiring at this stage. Makes you just want to give up.

Yes. Give up on RTÉ. You will not regret it.

I’ve my flights booked for the 28th June to Portugal. Wife will be vaccinated, myself and the eldest will have to get a pcr before departure (maybe the wife too if the green cert isn’t opened up).

Do you think you'll get to go? Or are you going regardless. We have flights booked for 15th of August but will have to pay fully for accommodation by the 15th of June. So not sure what to do?

The quarentining at home rule should be gone once the EU green cert comes in for EU countries anyway and I'd assume for the UK too. After that I'd say it'll be quickly forgotten about altogether.

    Amen Brother!!

Jesus they never quit. I have seen numerous info on the vaccines and the indian variant and all were good news. The vaccines work against it.

The wife was hesitant, but she got her first jab this week, and will be fully vaccinated before we go. I’m pretty optimistic we’ll get going, it would take a lot to deter me at this stage, played by the rules for the last year, the vulnerable are vaccinated, time to move on.

They’re an absolute disgrace but were €5m in the black in 2020 due to C19 so it’s in their interests to keep this sh1t going.

What makes you so sure of that? Isn't the idea of the green cert that it will see the traffic light system reintroduced, so home quanrantine will then depend on the incident rate of the country you're returning from (no quarantine for green, quarantine for orange)? that's how the UK system seems to be working and they're basically a couple of months ahead of the EU.
Of course maybe by that stage incidence numbers will be low throughout Europe, which would make a big difference

I've flights booked for the 5th of July to Spain (after changing 3 times). 2 of us will be fully vaccinated, 2 not. Where do you go for PCR tests here and abroad and do the tests abroad have to be organised before travel? Will "Lidl" antigen tests suffice?

    Antigen tests will not suffice.

EU agreement on vaccine certificates for international travel expected by mid-June

EU member states are aiming to agree on a system for digital vaccine certificates for international travel by June 21st, Dutch prime minister Mark Rutte said.

Some member states will begin using the system to ease restrictions surrounding non-essential travel, according to The Irish Times, however, others may wait until August following an agreement there would be a six-week period to introduce the new initiative.

    https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/eu-agreement-on-vaccine-certificates-for-international-travel-expected-by-mid-june-1124063.html

Our government won't introduce the system until August which is what they always wanted

Randox in Dublin airport is €89 for the PCR test.

Even if the Irish government don't sanction the Green Cert until August, could people travel regardless? With Vaccine/PCR test? If the Gardai are no longer turning people away at the airport.......will there be a new mechanism to stop people travelling or will it simply be advisory not to?

    Belfast airport will be busy.

Some countries accept Antigen tests but Spain requires a PCR or LAMP test.
In any case you'll have to go to a private Lab as you need a certificate with your passport number etc written on it.

Randox are by far the cheapest and in my experience very efficient.
€89 for PCR test (guaranteed results in 24 hours but normally the next morning) and €49 for an antigen test (results in 1 hour).

+1 for Randox used them a bit and very straight forward

I've booked for 8th July and have resigned myself to be paying for 5 tests here in Ireland (€450) and 5 tests in Malaga 48hrs before we return (€300) , Good old rip off Ireland alive and well. Its an extra 750 euro but well worth it to fee a bit normal and avoid the gouging that will happen here.

Anyone who thinks Ireland will have its green cert up and running this summer is delusional. Everything I've read points to "abundance of caution" but more worryingly an inability of the Govt to co-ordinate the information required.

Anyone planning to travel just factor in PCR tests on both sides and have an explanation why our mob couldn't get their Sh*t together and have the green cert available to its citizens

Its THIS article from April where thay look for a 3 month delay basically because they can't meet the deadline that worries me. What's changed in 2 weeks except rhetoric and hyperbole !

I hope this testing is a bit quicker than the antigen testing here which is going on almost a year at this stage.

What's changed is that they've been stomped on by the EU.

Like any IT project with an immovable deadline, it'll move as fast as it needs to go to meet the deadline.

    Belfast airport will be busy.

Why? The requirements will be the same except you are now traveling from a non eu country.

Was never happening. You were advised to turn around it continue and get a fine.
Still no update to the legislation, so you can't be fined the 2k for the 4th day in a row.

Wrong. 168 is ancient. Si 211 deals with this. Again, read the thread. This has been discussed

Did you travel a few days ago by any chance?

Due to fly out June 28th to Italy

Ive a single vaccination done. Wife doesnt and teenage soon either

Not getting hopes up, as I wouldn't be able to take extra time off work for return quarantine requirement.

    Feck in anyways

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,100 ✭✭✭BringBackMick

Yea fines will likely be dropped for departures

If your return flight from EU nation is in August you should be grand.

So I'd say two week holidays from 17 July will be okay.

Why Belfast airport? Because there will be certainty there on flights. We will not have that certainty
