The rates in France continue to drop and drop. I expect them to be off the hotel list very shortly or will they be too lazy to update the list

I booked first 3 weeks in September. 1100 for the site with the optional extras. Flight for myself and a few hours in the car.

The kids are happy on the site and then we just do s few days out to the theme park, zoo, etc. Probable looking at shut 4k all in

Just wondering if anyone knows how true the reports of gardai at the actual gate in dublin airport is, surely they can't cover all the gates?
Also is it true that the fast track lane isn't watched?

Gardai were at the entrance to the boarding pass scanners in T1 back in February, I bailed out of Ireland for 10 weeks to South America and South East Europe and had a great time to avoid winter, I didn't catch covid nor did I get ripped off here, literally one nights hotel in Ireland paid for one month of a luxury Apartment where I was in Brazil, local currency crashed to historic lows. Back for the summer now and hoping parts of Asia will be reopened for my winter sojourn.

There's beats inside the airport, nothing to do with covid. Just general policing.

It seems the general consensus is the guards set up around 8.30 in the morning in T1 and T2 and the fast track isn't supervised by gardai.

If you really want to avoid them you should be able to do it.

    1) Go in very early in the morning
    2) Get a fast pass for both T1 and T2. If they are at one go to the other. No way have they the manpower to have gardai at both terminals in the normal security area and the fast track.
    3) Get yourself a dental appointment

Anyways with all the movement on travel I can't see any earthly way that this travel fine gets renewed after it's expiration in mid June so if your travel is after that you should be fine as there won't be any penalty for travel just a general advisory not to do it.

You do know that there is a garda station in the airport

To go via Belfast will work out cheaper now as you can enter the UK with a cheaper antigen test and avoid all the quarantine rules and drama just catch the bus or enterprise back down to Dublin and avoid the hassle of the Guards, with BA's network it will offer more connections also.

For comparison I have 2 weeks mid-August booked in a detached house with garden just off the beach in Côte d'Argent for 4600. This was booked back in early March. Plus another 1k ish for the ferry. That's normal for France in my experience, even a cabin in a decent campsite will be 1500/week in high season. In fact the nearby campsite is now fully booked apart from a couple of 3 bed cabins at 5k for 2 weeks.

On the basis Ireland is good value, if you don't mind the weather risk. Last year we did Kerry and it was pissing rain half the time. Although it was more expensive than you've paid this year.

6k dropped? Already? It's no Lucan right

How much was a ferry, lots of talk of price gouging this year? Very hard to get a ferry for that price any year other than that BA one year

    Because they can't be faked!

They can easily but why would I go to such a laborious PITA to gain what? There was also a massive drop in m posting over the last 2.5 months since I had my own personal freedom back again and I had a car rented, ate out and drank out, sat on glorious beaches and all for pocketbook money compared to rip-off Ireland.

Perhaps a subject for another forum, would anyone care to compare and contrast 'The Airport Police with An Garda Siochana' ?

Airport police have no power outside of the airport, I heard a joke about them before with some sort of nickname like gophers or ferrets eluding to their ineffectiveness outside of their burrow,

Guz, doubt you will get many marks in a leaving cert exam with that answer

( nice bit of emotion all the same :D )

    It's all refundable until mid-July.

The ferry was normal price. But this was back in early March.

I don't think a T2 fast track helps as it is just off to the left of the regular entrance. Note I admit to not having been there since before COVID.

How ISH is the 1k, just for future years

There was addcrnt thread on the ferry's having been bumped up 600 euro from laet year, as a tax for last year, maybe they changed their tune

It just sound expensive, I suppose some move in different circles

Our (now cancelled) Ferry for Summer 2021 was €1,600. More expensive than previous years. However, Tesco Tokens were going to cover it all bar the deposit.

Australia is also toying with the idea of closing their borders until the entire world is vaccinated. As in, full on MHQ for many years to come.

the reality of this is stark. Is this what Zero Covidistas have in mind for Ireland ??

****ing headbangers. And again the conspiracy theorists will be owed an apology.

To think there's fruitcakes out there that'd be up for Ireland doing the same thing..

I’m travelling to Portugal with my 2 kids so they can visit their dad in June. I know this is deemed as essential for travel, but has anyone done this yet? Do I need proof for the guards coming back in? I just don’t know what kind of proof I can use

    With the usual hush hush

Ireland could not be in the CTA with the UK and in Schengen also. That is why they opted out. There was nothing "hush hush" about it. You might not have been aware what was going on yourself, but that probably isn't a good yardstick of something being kept secret

Joeys. The explanation as I heard it, can't leave the mothers (daa) pouch. How accurate that is, I dunno as it exists as a nickname since I was in diapers

Gardai are the national police. Airport police are quasi private security / local police (similar in ways to the policia local in Spain and Portugal).

Airport police primarily deal with parking and airport byelaws. They would commonly be first arrival at more serious calls until Gardai arrive. They shall deal with some internal daa security and staff issues that wouldn't fall within a policing remit.

They are not officially 'police' in legislation but use of the word satisfied eu / international agreements and mandates until it caused confusion and issues abroad. has been a source of dispute since but no desire exists to change the status quo.

This always applies, traveling during a pandemic or not.

Nothing needed to return. You have the right to return home. Papers and others liked to claim otherwise but traveling home is essential (how could it not be logically?)

For going out, court paperwork would be the best obviously.

Christ that's pricey. Considered going into Spain instead?
