Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I'm aiming for top 3 O60. :pac:

    I ran 30 mins non stop today, which doesn't sound like a lot, but back in February I had a partial tendon tear at the back of my knee, acquired during the climbing challenge, and I only restarted gentle jogging on March 27th, and even that was only 3 mins. I think I'll manage about 35, just sticking to 7min/km. Nothing too wild, but it's nice to be back running.

    Are we using exact ages, or just categories? Because I'm about to turn 61... :p

    Have been a little busy myself, so have done very little running in last month. Slowly getting back into it, but plan for this TT will defo to be just to feel my way into it. See how it feels and end up with slow 1st k, OK 2nd, 3rd and 4th k and quickest 5th k.


    Given my lack of running since 24th March and likelihood that I'll be running with E, I think my prediction is pretty leaky ( the opposite of sandbagging!!). But not worth shifting it.

    If I had any sense or a demonstrable history of wisdom, this should really be a DNS...but I don't so will be giving it full socks on Saturday morning :-)

    Was hoping to get physio (for a non running related issue in my side/lower back) earlier in the week but no appointment until Thursday...if I'm feeling ok after that I'll give it a go

    I must fess up and admit it was self serving in requesting a 5k TT as April’s challenge. There’s a race scheduled for this Saturday, in the plan I’m following. So in the circumstances, a virtual race was the best I was going to manage. All my speed work the last few weeks has gone to plan, and unlike a lot of races I face into, I’m finding it hard to find any bad omens when I look back over my recent training. Touch wood, Saturday is not that day.

    Unlike my usual kamikaze approach to racing, I’m going to start sensibly for this. Hopefully that will yield five 3:10 splits. The pain will arrive early though, so it will be a long 15+ minutes.

    I’ll be kitted out in Nike Vaporfly NEXT%, and making no apologies for it.

    I went out for a run this evening. There is not a hope in hell of me getting near my predicted time.. does one change these things or just bite the bullet and aim high?

    I run every Monday / Wednesday / Friday evening and if the first two this week are anything to go by....I won't hit my time either :(

    I'm going to attempt this TT in the Dublin St. Annes parkrun course on Saturday morning if anyone wants to join in a bit of mutual suffering. Social distanced of course

    It will be Sunday for me. 5k split as part of a long run broken into warm up, 5k, long cool down :cool:

    Was told to go on the conservative side of target pace which is tempo for 3k, goal for 2k. I'll be wearing the magic carpets so conservative for the first km at least, is out the window :D Ideally cool the jets for km 2 &3 and push on from there.

    Also, If you are not on the table please shout. Thank you to those updating it, much appreciated :)

    My way of racing 5k has always been to go out hard and hang on for dear life. It's an uncomfortable way of doing things and it definitely doesn't work for any longer distances but I did surprise myself pleasantly a few times - once I was able to breathe again, that is.

    yeah same for me up to very recently, i think as the body gets a bit older its less taxing even psycholgically to even pace it..and not have the thoughts of the horrors to come whilst your still only half way through, having said that , all of my latest efforts have been time trials, in a race it would be hard not to go out hard and chase people ..

    I’m going to have to drop out - somethings come up so won’t get a chance to do a TT at the designated time . Did one myself on Tuesday and happy enough with my time. Thanks for giving me the kick I needed as confident now training working .
