Has to be a piss take - funny how people when want to believe something, they take at face value. No wonder some get suckered into spam and scams.

I am not spamming or scamming. I don't think some one here like the idea of a woman making money from her body.

No problem people making money from an Only Fans account, it is the people paying that need help.

You are earning 32k a year as nurse plus pension contributions. A nurses pension when you are 67 will probably be worth about 30k a year after 40yrs work. To earn a pension of that size I'd imagine in private sector you'd have to have a pension of a couple million, maybe it's a lot.

I'd really hope that "couple of million" is a joke given that a 5% roi is trivial to achieve on a very conservative trading account. If you've 600k and you aren't making 30k/year from that you should be taken out and shot. I mean, Jesus, you could buy a 600k house and rent it for 3k/month ffs.

On the other hand, given the pension system in this country, it's possible albeit horrifying. I'm heading a touch off topic though...
Basically, you need to go to a good independent financial/tax advisor. Not someone tied to a company who will try to sell you their products.

I'd agree with this and the other things this poster said. Be careful about the "independent" bit. A friend of mine's accountant recommended getting into some company called "Black Gold" a few years back. I researched it for him and found a great big scam! His accountant wasn't independent ;) I was just about to type "Remember what happened to Gay Byrne" but the above poster finished with that :p

I wonder if, when you are making most of your salary using online services, it is maximally efficient to not be in this country at all! I'm not being snide, I'm just thinking that Ireland isn't exactly a low tax economy.

Post a link to your profile on one of the broadest HSE Group email lists that you can find. You'll probably get fired but you can retire in a couple of months.

Hi there, I am currently working as a nurse earning 32500 a year.
Five months ago I started an OnlyFans account. I have built up a decent following on it, and I am currently earning circa 12k a month. The OF work itself takes maximum an hour a day and I enjoy it.

I am strongly considering giving up my main job and focusing on OnlyFans. The only thing stopping me is the fear that OF may be temporary/disappear overnight for some reason.

Should I just take the chance and quit my job?

P.S I have no dependants and rent with others for 800 a month in Dublin

How's your Tax return coming along? I hope Revenue doesn't get you.

Getting 12k a month transferred into a bank account will get reported to the revenue. Banks have to report over 10k.

I once got a redundancy payment by cheque and had to explain it when lodging.

They explained in a further post that they are declaring the money to revenue.

It isn't a question that your income 'may' disappear from OF, it will disappear, at some stage.

Some obvious immediate risks are that your account gets banned. The banning might not even be your fault but you wont be able to open a new one and you'll have zero recourse, e.g. if too many users make disputes or chargebacks, even if it happens by chance. Or if you breach advertising TOC. These checks are all automated for OF, the system may make mistakes, but they don't override decisions. This type of irrecoverable insta-ban has put many people out of business that relied on Amazon or Ebay for their income. The common wisdom there is to not rely on one platform, but do you have an alternative to OF?

Another risk is that social media companies disallow advertising OF. For example Reddit is going public at some stage so there's a non-zero chance that they remove all pornographic content.

I think the q is whether you can earn enough in the meantime to make it worth ending a career and imo you can't know the answer to this based on the arbitrary risks, so I would not quit my job (assuming it's even permissible in your job, it would not be in mine). In this case I think a bird in the hand (100k) is worth two in the bush (200k).

This is a spoof post just like the spoofer near me who claims he's pulling in 60k a month from only fans.

Only fools would be more appropriate title. There's no Irish person taking 12k a month on that site.

What's more spoof tastic if someone was pulling in that sort of money they wouldn't put up a dilemma thread on board about a 30k nursing job.

Why do people get sucked into this waffle.

There’s genuinely a girl from cork making €35k+ a month.

If you're only on €32500 then you must have just qualified in October? Do you really want to throw away all your skills and training right after college?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,610 ✭✭✭stoneill

If this is real and you are making 12k a month then go for it, make as much money as you can while you can, rake it in as fast as you can.
Go for it full time, make the 30k a month but be shrewd in how you use the money - don't blow it all. Save and invest.
OF or something similar will be around in some guise or some platform for a long time.

I don't know if it's been said but talk to an accountant about how to minimize your tax liability.

As a part time fun troll myself I would take the time here to thank the op for their contribution to the cause.

Nurse making circa 150k a year on OF comes on boards hoping that the good people of this community can make her see sense and go back to 32k pa.

For 150k per year, bmw convertible, 3 bed semi d in a plush area, few holidays a year, working an hour a day - really op, really really, do you really want to throw it all away?

i know a lad ( used to go to school with ) who gives himself hand shandys on of and making €50k a month ( so i'm told ) that's the rumour a few of the lads heard , how true it is i've no idea , must be some truth to it

so you can literally put anything xxx rated up and you'd make money

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,183 ✭✭✭jobless

If i was the OP and what she says is true, i'd give up the job or career break and move to a zero tax country and work from there...

btw can i check out that ward?

No point saying "she's earning x per year on OF". She has earned x per month so far, but it isn't a salary. It's possible that it all permanently ends in a week.

Career break is a way better idea than quitting.

Yeah I am aware of the precarious nature of the career hence keeping all my options open. I have been investing in stocks and bitcoin for a while now. Hopefully I can start making a passive income so if OF goes bust I will have my money made.

Oh yes, I meant to say to everybody who's tempted here: this is all BS. It's possible that OP is real, or more likely is a paid promoter/content creator, but if she's legit she's an extreme outlier.

This happens routinely with adult entertainment and as listermint say, the media will print whatever BS without scrutiny.

    Example:

Ashley Maddison gained popularity in media around 2010 as a way for people to have affairs. Irish media claimed that hundreds of thousands of Irish people were cheating on it, and routinely printed soft stories of the same nature as articles in the thread re: OF, e.g. from 2011:

    https://www.independent.ie/style/sex-relationships/my-online-affair-turned-me-into-a-better-wife-26619245.html
“There's nothing worse than routine, routine, routine,” she says. “I didn't plan to have an affair but I went on AshleyMadison met a guy and that was that.”
    ....
30,000 Irish spouses who use extra-marital dating sites
    ...
On AshleyMadison men outnumber the women in the 40-50 demographic but in the 30s it’s 1:1 and the reasons for wanting an affair aren't often different.

    https://www.dailyedge.ie/over-40000-people-in-ireland-want-to-have-affairs-276426-Nov2011/
As of this weekend 41, 341 people had signed up to the service (minus one for this reporter who had a look in the name of research). Of those members, about 33 per cent are female.

Well a few years later all their data was fully leaked, names, addresses, credit card info, everything: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Madison_data_breach

The reality is that, since its inception until the leak in 2015: only 1200 people in Ireland signed up to the site, and 96% were men (only 44 women in Ireland signed up): https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-30694515.html

In total, less than 1% of accounts using the site were women. Of that 1%, only 0.2% accounts ever replied to a message.

This OF hype in media is the same. It's an attempt to make people sign up, and to make people create content. I'm not sure why media don't scrutinise it, but it's BS.

Several countries have attractive remote work visa programmes including Dubai and the Caymans that would suit. However, you need solid tax advice first otherwise you are still classed as a tax-resident in Ireland at least in the first year.

Obviously a total troll post, but nicely played - the thoughts of a hot nurse who is also a shrewd investor and likes to ask the big clever boys of boards for advice...lol

Anybody making close to this kind of money is not only spending an hour a day. To make a lot of money it’s a full time job (and even then it’s not guaranteed as you need to be really social media savvy). The money is made from reading and responding to all of the messages you get and fulfilling their fantasies. That’s why men pay - they ask the OF person to wear certain clothes or do certain poses and it feels intimate for them.

Obviously they are all lads who can’t get women, so this little bit of excitement is well worth it in their eyes. You also need to spend ages drumming up new subscribers.

But it’s great PR for this person if it’s a woman with an OF account as all the people she pm’d will probably start following and paying.
Or it could be just some guy having a laugh and see how long the thread lasts for :)

It's bizarre some of the posts here. I don't know if it's jealousy or what. I am well aware I am in a very lucky position, and I don't think I am anything 'special' or talented.
