OnlyFans had their branding cracked in media though, wherein people who publish on it weren't seen as making porn. Somehow. I think publishing porn from seedy corners of the internet wont be so appealing to, e.g., people who have a permanent position as a nurse.

Also, although OP was using GMail, Snapchat, and various payment providers, selling porn isn't allowed on any of these.

🤔 I thought all onlyfans was just porn, what other content are people selling on it?

I think I can nearly hear the keyboard clickity clack of developers furiously trying to create a clone.

It will just be replaced by a new site, or some other existing site will expand to fill the gap.

It was meant for fans of anybody (e.g. Floyd Mayweather is on it), they just had lax rules for porn, including ignoring underage posters: OnlyFans: How it handles illegal sex videos - BBC investigation - BBC News, and so this proliferated.

A new site can replace it but will come up against the exact same issue. No payment processors or banks want to deal with porn and related issues, and no venture funds want to invest. This applies even to sites with strict verification. You'd think that if there's a market for something online, it'll keep popping up to meet the demands, but it's not necessarily so. For example torrenting was driven underground by government and ISP-level regulation

I think this is exactly what people didn't get about the whole matter, but also how it is basically run not unlike a pyramid scheme with referral fees. The whistleblower moderator was pointing out he has basically no moderation authority over the accounts that brought them in the most money. I don't want to speculate but I wonder if those people I suspect are bringing in a lot of new sign ups so both OnlyFans and those account holders are both raking in the cash that way.

Also most likely why the a lot of the marketing from other account holders is about getting others to sign up and acting like one can make loads of money - so those account holders can enjoy the spoils of those at the bottom of the pyramid. After all, if one was "creating" an product I wouldn't want someone making a practically identical product to me which my "customers" could flock to. But - one sure would if one didn't have to make anything and enjoy getting a cut of all the people one referred.

If one just wants to sell sexy pics of oneself then to me, just like with running any online shop... it makes the most sense to completely controm everything from your website to collecting payments (particularly when one is raking actual money not a few euro here and there and wants to "build a brand"). But OnlyFans makes a lot more sense if when reading articles about it, you remember it's not too far away from being a pyramid scheme.
