I felt the author was taking the p1ss a little bit the way he delivered the "entitled south Dublin" meme to Ryan, he was describing the host to himself whilst making light of it. I must listen back later as I caught it in passing.

I thought that as well. And the Ryan joined in making fun of the lack of awareness in some people from South Dublin.

    People in glass houses.. Ryan.

    (19th April)

Flynn Berry ‘Northern Spy’ fictional book about NI/IRA was mentioned. The author is an American.

    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57650174-northern-spy

Reese Witherspoon (Actress) recommended it apparently and it has made it more popular as a result.

‘Love Grows’ by Edison Lighthouse was played

Tubridy also mentioned a film which he was raving about called

Quo Vidas Aida - set during the time of the war in Yugoslavia in the 90’s

The interview was with Kevin Power the author of fictional book ‘White City’.
About a rich South County Dubln Banker who has few falls from grace.

    https://www.independent.ie/entertainment/books/book-reviews/white-city-a-deep-dive-into-the-moral-bankruptcy-of-celtic-tiger-culture-40259083.html

He is the same author who wrote. ‘Bad Day in Blackrock’ 2008, which was made into a film called ‘What Richard Did’ 2012.

Supposedly his new book ‘White City’ is infused with humour. Power said he has has a fascination with the elites as he was not from the background. But came across the culture when he went to UCD. Ironically, he now teaches in Trinity College.

It was a good interview about the class system in general. However, he kept using one word which annoys me ‘toxic’. Not used in the manner to describe waste etc but to describe relationship. I still find that annoying. But maybe that is just me?

But I thought it was very honest and open interview. Power explained how it took him a while to write another decent novel after his first one.

A lot of book/film discussion from contributors. If you are a reader/book person/film person this is the programme for you. Too many to mention.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

“Dublin Ireland”. For the American listeners - esp. the Clintons, who as we all know get up at 4am eastern time each day to listen to Bryan.

Then yea might be good for people with Haemochromatosis, of which there are many in Ireland... if it helps to block absorption of iron.

Not sure which local interest group is more overpowered - the 1916 relatives committee or the croke Park residents association.

Can hear him flicking through them from the phone charging part, to Ricky Gervais news to the next piece. 0 interest and it sounds like the first time he's seen any of it as its bring read out.

Not sure but it sounds like a place Ryan would avoid for fear of being insulted by another pore person
