Lovely review Mark. Your best yet and not just because of the car.
It’s great to see a good Irish reviewer as others aren’t great at all.

    You bet.
Can't have have the population paying €100 motor tax.
Brother (who's in an environmental section for a car manufacturer) reckons we'll be taxed and VRTed on
    kWhr/100km.....

    Great video Mark, fair play.

Is the €125k you mention at the start for the base model?

Along with that nose, the other thing I woudn't be a fan of is that sterring wheel - too chunky and I'd prefer one with a flat bottom, would give it a more sporty look. Actually, do any of the BMW's have flat bottom steering wheels? Have been looking at a load of M340i reviews and it has the same wheel too.

Had a chuckle at the chap in the comments section complaining you didn't show off the boot. :pac:

Ha, there’s always someone moaning. Same with the back seat, I didn’t linger at all because that’s not what the car is about.

Yeah 125k without any options (and additional taxes)!

We’ve always been screwed as motorists in Ireland but it’s now the worst it’s ever been.

I’ve only ever driven an M5 on a track so I’ve never ‘lived’ with one but with the levels if power on this, I’d imagine most would be happy with it and not feel the need to jump up again to M5 level.

Another great review Mark. We really do get screwed here in taxes from one dimensional men in grey suits who see an opportunity to milk the cow.

This will probably be the last generation of M3 with an ICE engine and that will be a mighty shame.

Flat bottom wheels are crap on track, this car should be driven on track so a round wheel is far better.

Stick to the VAG stuff if you want a flat steering wheel :)
Personal thing but I cannot stand the flat steering wheels, missus has one in her golf and I'd have the chunky bmw wheel over it.

Great review Mark, myself and vintage had a pop at your man moaning :D

Don't think I'll ever be in the market for M cars and RS cars but for you guys that are, even second hand ones won't be available in any numbers or value at those prices and the import route closed off too. Shame, I like seeing them on the road the odd time.

    Good review Mark

Very very nice spec on this car, but the price will really limit the buyers for this. It’s hard to say it’s overpriced given the spec, VRT and it’s very low miles. Will be keeping an eye on it out of interest €45,945 now.

Was also very surprised to see that 7 year old X5s with decent spec are still around the €40k mark, gives me some hope that the one I’m ordering will still be worth something in a few years time.

Great review Mark, very enjoyable! €146k though... even Joe Achilles would struggle with the monthlies on that !

What they are buying them for and what they are selling them for are two different things :D

Honestly you are codding yourself if you think the depreciation is going to be anything other than eye watering but I wouldn’t concern yourself with that just enjoy it sounds like it will be a lovely motor.

For sure, it’s probably like child birth, you get over the pain and go again like it’s never happened! BMW mystery dopping chemicals! I could start a conspiracy theory on it...

Very low mileage, huge spec, door closed on UK imports.....it's actually not that overpriced imo. Someone was selling a 2017 f30 340i for €42k recently.

But considering they were offering me €33k for my 2018 (albeit less specced) when I was thinking of offloading it says it all really..

Probably in the driving assistant pack

    Don’t see adaptive suspension though

Ah yeah each to their own of course. I wouldn't let a nitpick over a steering wheel put me off a car I otherwise really liked.

Prices have gone up on stuff gone too expensive to import from the UK now. Prices of hot hatches are rocketing too as more people working from home offload their mile munchers for on. 3 year old M140i and Golf Rs asking low 40k now.

Adaptive drive would be the adaptive suspension.

Great spec or not that car is still pricey for a four year old. Low 40’s would be where I would have it as fair value. The market though for this stuff seems inflated at the moment due to lack of supply.

The x5’s seem to plateau out after a few years especially if they have seven seats.
As regards a new one holding great value I think the dealer will always win. The x5 that will lose least now is a base x5 45e x line with no options.
Same as a base 520d se was the Best Buy in a 5 series.

    .

It's a bit on the high side but using your old car as an example, going from a same year 520d to a 540i with every option ticked and less than half the miles on the clock for 10k sounds about right to me.

    Goodpoint.
I suppose my old car would have two year BMW warranty which adds a bit but it's pricey too. I think 43/44 would be plenty for the 540i.
Good thing you didn't sell yours Wailin. Your car has probably appreciated in the last year!

A lot of cars that are scarce here have appreciated in the past year.

It grinds my gears when they say "twin turbo" regarding the B58. It's a single turbo with twin scrolls. BMW aren't helping either by having "Twin Power Turbo" on the engine cover.

Having said that, the B58 is a peach of an engine.

Where would you value an Irish plated 2016 F31 340i with MPPSK and full BMSH ?

Seeing as I’d happily buy it off you very little...

Very hard to know tbh as there is nothing to compare to.
      If you can buy a 2016 M140 for about 30K perhaps 33-35K???

Low 30's i would think. What are you thinking of next miller? Does the 540i interest you?

Put my reg into carzone valuation and telling me its worth €54k! I'll take that :D

I've just checked the UK market for them. Not a hope landing one in Ireland for low 30's anymore.

Ill hold onto it for while. Nothing comes close in Touring form at the moment, bar an RS6 which is another financial league altogether.

      Same for everything interesting/fast/rare.
      I regret not getting a F31 340i last year.

      Out of curiosity...

If you were to import a 340i from the UK now, would it be comparable in cost? Or more expensive?
