I pasted in the wrong link. If you add in all the eu countries we are 3rd from the bottom

    https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations

Really not sure about that link tbh.

Heres another which shows Irelands vaccination
rate out of a total of 33 counties in the Number of doses per 100 population

    European countries ranked nos. 13 - 21.

    Italy 22.47
    Slovenia 22.43
    Netherlands 22.08
    Belgium 22.07
    Slovakia 21.98
    Portugal 21.92
    Greece 21.88
    France 21.86
    Ireland 21.8

As listed above 10 of those countries including Ireland - have vaccinations rates ranging from 21s to mid 22s. And with just a fraction difference between them. With
Sweden, Poland, Luxembourg, and Norway just below us.

    Best of luck to them.

If we hold firm, it could be us this time next year.

Yes and no. Definitely wouldn't call it sickening in the literal sense. Its progress and thats great but for me there is zero appeal to go to any kind of 'masked' event.

Yeah sickening might be the wrong word but I am not sickened because they are there rather because I know that it will be a long time before our dear leaders let us do such a thing.

Some good news, people MIGHT be allowed travel outside their counties in June.

Surely even the most dedicated lemmings won't be still heeding this nonsense by June.

Luckily I live in a big beautiful coastal county and would rarely leave it unless for work. Occasionally I'd head into the neighbouring county (in the north). I'd completely understand someone living in a smaller landlocked county flouting the restrictions though.

Correct me if I'm wrong but have a bunch of other countries not also pulled / restricted the AZ vaccine?

Even the UK have. Massive difference between over 60s and over 30s though...

Is it? How many snooker competitions have you been to in Ireland over the years?

Be careful now heading into the north with the widespread riots and targeting of southern reg cars and accents :D

Hopefully the UN will interfere here soon!

Tbf even if he hasn't, it'd still be better than sitting at home watching Netflix again and again and again.

Snooker, theatre, Cinema, attending an outdoor match or concert- I'd take anything right now.
And Yes I have been to snooker events in Goffs and Citywest.

It's a trial event to find a way to get back to normality.
I think they are just using antigen tests on the way in.

Some of the statements made by people in this thread are ridiculous. "Sickening" watching the snooker. FFS. Perspective required.

    When:

In around 2-3 months once once we reach >60% of the population vaccinated.

    Why:

Israel January 10000+ cases. Israel today 34 cases.

Aren't they still all wearing masks in Israel ?

It's gas the way some countries insist on mask wearing - even if you are alone, outside, in the sun ....

Pure desperation. It's somewhat amusing all the same.

“The man who lies to himself can be more easily offended than anyone else. You know it is sometimes very pleasant to take offense, isn't it? A man may know that nobody has insulted him, but that he has invented the insult for himself, has lied and exaggerated to make it picturesque, has caught at a word and made a mountain out of a molehill--he knows that himself, yet he will be the first to take offense, and will revel in his resentment till he feels great pleasure in it.”- ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Israel didn`t just throw all other measures out the window when there vaccinations got to a certain level. Unlike on here where some appear to believe we should do so even at our present level.

Anyway.... far as I know as of tomorrow masks outdoors are not required in Israel.

That percentage is for doses per 100,000 residents.
We have around 5M residents, but according to the 2016 census we have 1.25M under 18 years of age.

Not saying the figure is incorrect, but with 25% of our residents not presently eligible for vaccination, (other than those aged 16-18 deemed as high risk) it would have been more informative if the figures were more on a like-for-like basis of who is eligible for vaccination in each country at present rather than total residents.

The critical stat for EU comparisons is % of delivered doses administered.
