The US has dropped all quarantine rules for its vaccinated, including those travelling internationally:

The CDC said Covid-19 tests are no longer required for fully vaccinated people before or after a trip within the U.S., and there is no need for them to self-quarantine. The guidance doesn’t mention whether people need proof of vaccination to travel, though no U.S. airlines currently require such documentation.

The same rules apply to vaccinated people traveling internationally, with some exceptions. Some destination countries may require a negative Covid-19 test for entry. And the CDC recommends people test negative before coming back to the U.S.

Go away outa that with your political ****e. This is a thread about travel during coronavirus and Israel rightfully should not be on the list

Nothing political in that me boy.

Only thing is your apparent lack of logic. Par for the course though.

Let me try to make is more simple for you. There is a large population of people packed inside a relatively small area of land which we will call "Palestine". They do not have many vaccines. Lots of those people travel back and forth to "Israel" every day. Who owns or controls what land is irrelevant. All that matters is that they are mixing.

I don't think I can simplify it more than that. If that is "political" to you then sure there is not much hope.

Good to see. The momentum now is all in one direction

(Except for in Ireland of course)

I imagine diplomatic pressure will follow in time. Nothing will change before June though

Any more updated info on this?

Not really no. The EU are still pushing ahead with the Digital Travel Certificate so upon further announcements on this we should know more. April 16th or thereabouts we might have some clarity on that to the best of my knowledge.

The expectation is the current travel advisory will stay in place for the Summer and most likely the rest of 2021. The airport fine I am not so sure on. Gun to my head, I would guess this will stay in place until the travel advisory is changed but that’s just an educated guess.

That’s a very depressing outlook Ray. Effectively we are trapped here for another 12 months. That’s beyond scary to be honest. I guess we’ll have to become creative in finding ways out of here.

I really can't see anything for us in the summer. Im praying that by late August it will be relaxed as every adult who wants to be vaccinated should be by then.

As Eamonn Ryan says staycations this summer and later on in the year “they’ll look” at travel.

Once the regulations on non essential travel go I cannot see how the airport fines can continue but that’s just my thoughts.

Hopefully there'll be pressure on them to reopen once vaccinations get to a decent percentage. I'd imagine there will be at an EU level to reopen with other countries and hopefully there will be amongst the people living here.

There's going to be a point where getting people to accept vaccinations will be an issue if there's no benefits to it so things like travel will have to be looked at as a bonus to being vaccinated.

Yes agree. I’d say from June when the digital green certificate comes in they will have to soften the tone

Two women arrested after refusing to go to quarantine hotel after returning from Dubai https://jrnl.ie/5399796

They had travelled to get cosmetic surgery...fecking insta-huns

They’ll be legal challenges way before then. If there is travel in the EU but we are banned from travel then there are all sorts of organisations that would look to the courts

Yep or even commercial pressure. NPHET can dither now but once the UK lets Americans in, the end is in sight. They'll be Americans going to England and looking to add a few days in Ireland at the end, calling up hotels and trying to make bookings. Once the hotels here open for domestic travel, how could anyone tell them to turn desperately needed custom away because Professor Suchabody and his committee still need to study just how effective vaccines are?

If you refuse to go to hotel quarantine on health reasons I wonder what they can do.

Some people may fear for their safety in such a place.

I can see huge and costly law suits in the future for people getting compensation for being held inhumanely

    Would they be successful?

You lucky man. Do you mind me asking what the requirements are for travel to Mexico at the moment, PCR tests and all that?

    Absolutely nothing.

Wherever you're transiting from may be different though. I'm transiting in heathrow so I don't think I legally have to get any PCR test at all which to me is just pathetic.
Anyone boarding a plane should be subject to some form of testing.

I went to Colombia in January and both amsterdam and Colombia wanted proof of a negative PCR test. To be honest, I could have just had an old PCR result and changed the date on it, the bored airport staff hadn't a **** to give either way. Just a quick glance at the date then off to the next passenger.

Doubt it would get that far. Will just add to the pressure on the government. And once brits and Americans are flying about the place, and EU residents taking advantage of the passport, then will likely be enough to get us to fall in line

I'm pretty clued up on the geographical facts about israel and palestine buddy. I was in both "countries" 2 years ago. Thank you for the Geography lesson but I don't need it. :)

Fear for their safety in such a place?...lol
I think they might be a tad safer in a hotel in dublin than they would be in Dubai after getting their cosmetic surgery done...

What a load of nonsense. If that was the case Australia would be fecking bankrupt by now.

Anxiety, stress, people can be clausterphobic and unable to stay in hotel rooms like that long term.

I can foresee PTSD claims in the future.

Australia are a law to themselves and are not a poster boy for human rights.

We fortunately are a member of the EU and are the fore front for human rights and freedoms

Different story when you plan for a 10hr flight through medication or mental preparedness....than being forced into a room for 14 days controlled by people, possibly without required medication

Claustrophobic....but can manage two long haul flights....

PTSD, what utter nonsense. Bringing up that in this instance totally demeans the condition.

People seem to forget that being a member of the EU comes with a list of committments that must be kept .

Sometimes they suit your needs, sometimes they do not.

Ireland breaching EU treaties would be a disgraceful move and open to significant litigation.

Obviously you've no clue of any of these conditions.

Somebody can get through a long haul flight through short term meds or mindfulness....

It is a different story for medium term internment in what is basically a prison hotel.
