I have no problem with it.

But there were some on here who lost their absolute shít when it was announced that inter county teams in bubbles could resume training on the 19th.

The permanently outraged are gonna be outraged I guess.

Not sure if anyone is aware of this but Sacha Lord, (founder of Parklife/Warehouse Project and Night Time Economy Advise here in Manchester) is taking the government to court over the delayed opening of indoor hospitality until the 17th of May.

It'll probably go nowhere but it's good to see some people of influence fight back.

    Here's his update.

Can't see anything like that happening here especially the fact places are getting financial support from the government

Are there any breakdowns showing how many of those had Covid before they arrived in hospital?

Have you looked for breakdowns "showing how many of those had Covid before they arrived in hospital" or?

Tbh. I find it quite bizarre that completely bs figures making claims such as "90%" of all those hospitalised are over 65" are being used and yet not one person checks those figures or asks any questions and instead we get all the clappy happys giving it the thumbsup!

But dare to put up the actual data and its like the interrogation room of the Sweeney ;)

    As to your question.

"Are there any showing how many of those had Covid before they arrived in hospital"

Well there was a short period in January when we were experiencing the highest infection rates to date - that approximately a third of patients with Covid-19 in hospital - contracted the virus whilst in hospital.

Updated figures now show that healthcare acquired infections are running at just over 2% for both patients and healthcare staff. But that's all healthcare settings not just hospitals btw.

    Data available here

    https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/surveillance/covid-1914-dayepidemiologyreports/

    Does that help?

Not really - that 2% is not for hospitalised covid positives.

As in, it’s for contacted Covid cases and not related to hospitalisation in any way as far as I can see in that data linked.

    What???

The heading for each category is as detailed in those reports

"Table 5: Number of confirmed COVID-19 cases by most likely transmission source notified from
    17/03/2021 to midnight 30/03/2021"

    •Healthcare setting acquired: patient

    • Healthcare setting acquired: staff

What exactly do you think a "healthcare setting" is?

And yes healthcare setting includes hospitals or do you have a different understanding of the term of patient and healthcare setting?

The whole furore over the GAA training is the biggest load of manure I’ve ever heard. It’s almost parody. Groups of young lads have been training in my local grounds for the last month, the local tennis courts have also been host to many teens playing amongst themselves, and more power to them. Why is this any different? The whole thing is so laughable. They’re outdoors where it’s considered safe and getting on with life and skills. Dessie Farrell now suspended over it. I don’t even follow sport or care about it but talk about much ado about nothing. Stop the fcuking world and let me off

Ban is consistent with the GAA rules.

In the two weeks to 30th March 324 people in hospital tested Covid positive.

    From data linked,

    ‘Healthcare Acquired Patient: 114’

    ‘Healthcare Acquired Staff: 51’

Also, number of healthcare workers testing positive 206.

Just to be clear, the question being asked is how many of the 324 positive cases in hospital acquired the infection in hospital?

Its worse. They have decided to ignore public health advice and chosen to gamble with other people's health and lives just so that they can train. The selfishness and entitlement from them stinks to high heaven. I wouldnt throw Dublin out of the championship, but those lads should be given a ban for this year. No matter how big a star you are, or think you are, in the GAA world, it doesnt put you above caring for others in a pandemic. Clowns.

I'm ashamed to be irish atm

It's hard to describe the farce that is going on and a lot of it because of HSE mismanagement. There is truly no end in sight were always running into problems and then blaming the latest flavour of the week eg Students out drinking, teams out training, house parties etc

Nothing suggesting that we will have a lot of restrictions lifted for the summer

    Not able anymore

Ah so the data is OK now

Healthcare staff may also may have acquired covid outside a Healthcare setting.

As said numbers for both staff and patients acquiring covid in a Healthcare setting is given. Which as a percentage is just over 2%. So yeah it it seems not many ...

And thats as close as it gets from the available data.

You could of course ring or email the HSPC and ask the precise percentage? Or is it that you want me to make up figures like some here have? :pac:

Of course it is, and it's down to how the Government response to Covid has been mismanaged...Outdoor sports aren't a priority... Stay home, save lives, protect the HSE...

The GAA can't be seen to be above the rules against outdoor sports, otherwise you'll have the Golfers, Tennis players, cyclists, soccer player etc. all up in arms too...

Like anything those three say carries any weight. They are not in charge. NPHET are in charge.

But in response to your point, there is the fact that they keep referring to it as an 'outdoor summer'.

Wierd that, considering that last Summer we were able to dine indoors for example.

Hard to believe that 1 year later with almost 1 million vaccines already handed out and with predictions of 80 percent of adults offered their first dose by June, that our summer could possibly be worse than last year with no vaccines.

It's all speculative, but it'll be a lot better for staff if they aren't spending every day wondering if there'll be a job there tomorrow.

We have been in lockdown for roughly 8 months now with a 3 week break at Christmas.

How is it not clear to you that nothing that the people do has any impact on what a Tony led NPHET recommend? It's level 5 or level 5.

    It's level 5 at 6000 cases a day, it's level 5 at 450 cases a day.

    It's level 5 with 1341 hospitalised, it's level 5 with 274 hospitalised.

Yeah the one specific thing that Philip Nolan (NPHET) said that they haven't shut up about since. Doesn't change the validity of my point whatsoever.

The problem isn't level 5 the problem is people not pulling their weight and following the rules. I've been following relaxations page and you have people griping about level 5 one minute and the next minute bragging about breaking the rules and meeting friends and family. Do you not see the irony? If everyone pulled together back last March on a global scale covid would go away but they didn't so tough titties

Just curious what misbehaviour took place over Christmas?

I wasnt aware of any issues.
