At the risk of sounding flippant. I'd love it if Munster played Cloete.

His turnover stats are mostly a quantity over quality effect. He concedes a lot of completely unnecessary penalties and if I were picking the team, he wouldn't be near my 15 on a big occasion

I think that's fair, tbh. He has seemed a little better this year, but he definitely still gives away too many. The flip side is he's top of the turnover charts too tho, and Munster went after the breakdown pretty effectively the last day.

Surely Stander will play? Like, IRFU won't care what he does, and to win his last game against Leinster and finally pick up a medal too, he'll surely be dying to get involved.

A Munster back-row of Stander, POM and Coombes is a lot better than anything involving Cloete.

It's substantially better alright, but CJ played all but 17 minutes in the 6 Nations, and even that was against Italy. I'd love to see him involved, but I've a feeling he may not be.

That was supposed to be me agreeing with you on the point. But I appreciate the ambiguity of how I typed it lol.

    What Bayern has said.

I think Henshaw ROL is the center partnership.

It occurred to me there that while it's all well and good to manage players minutes etc as there is a huge chunk of big games coming up - it's also very feasible that there are 2 games left for Leinster this season.

Let's get the big boys out and performing and make sure we're playing more than 2 games

id love to see henshaw starting, hes in the form of his life and he would give DDA a torrid time.

however hes played 5 out of 5 in the 6N... and ever minute bar 18

if anyone is going to be forced rested its him.

    Keenan

    Ed Byrne
    Tracey

This is a Final. None of the top players should be sitting in the stands.

If the Irish squad boys have to play every weekend until July, so be it, thats what they're paid for. But of course they won't be, but this is the peak of the season, crunch time, so release the hounds.

For our part, Leinster should be:

Keenan, Kearney, ROL, Henshaw, Lowe, Sexton, JGP, Ed, Kelleher, Furlong, Fardy, Toner, Ruddock, VdF, Conan

Healy, Cronin, Porter, Baird, Penny, McGrath, Ross B, Larmour.

No messing, no fooling, get out there and smash them.

Toulon will take care of itself. And even if we get a few knocks ahead of that game, look at that bench to come in to the XV. We'll smash them too.

On one hand I don't want Leinster to win because that'll mean Leinster winning four in a row
On the other hand I don't want Munster to win because I won't get to say as a Connacht fan we have won silverware more recently then them anymore

    It's tough

    It probably won't be really.

These games are usually high on intensity but lacking in quality.

The restart game back in August was a belter.

Is Beirne injured? Not seeing him on anyone's team

Nope, but he played all but 23 minutes of the 6 Nations. He's up there with Keenan, Stander and Henshaw among the most minutes.

No , but he started all 5 Internationals and played all but about 20 minutes so a lot of people think he might be rested - I don't agree

I think Munster will start absolutely fully loaded barring injuries.

The Toulouse game is a stretch for Munster at this stage to be honest so they will absolutely be prioritising this week-end and JVG has confirmed as much in recent days..

I think Leinster will as well for the most part bar perhaps Sexton starting from the bench with Ross Byrne in the 10 shirt. I also think we'll see both Porter and Furlong in the 23 as well (not that bothered about who starts and who benches tbh).

    Beirne is starting.

Munster are going all out for this trophy.

I hope Leinster rest a few guys, so that if we lose I can be a dick and say "well, you can only beat us when it's our second string", and if we win, be an even bigger dick and say "you can't even beat our second string".

Either way, gonna be a dick. Can't wait.

l think it would be great to see a Munster win, just to change the narrative a bit and give a bit of a boost to the competitiveness between the two provinces. Hopefully it's a high quality game with a good performance from both sides.

If Munster don't win this I'm going to give up supporting them. It's an open goal, they just have to show up.

Ah, but it's a game of 2 halves

I hear Galway is nice this time of year?

League matches, fair enough. Finals are always a different kettle of fish... No crowd though, so could end up being a bit muted.

Would the below be a fair stab at a Leinster 23?

    1. Byrne, 2. Kelleher, 3. Porter,
    4. Baird, 5. Toner
    6. Ruddock, 8. Conan, 7. Van der Flier,
    9. Gibson-Park, 10. R Byrne,
    11. Lowe, 12. O'Loughlin, 13. Osborne, 14. Kearney,
    15. Larmour.

    16. Cronin, 17. Dooley, 18. Furlong, 19. Fardy, 20. Penny, McGrath, H Byrne, Kelleher.

    Resting: Healy, Sexton, Henshaw, Keenan.
Injured: J Ryan, Connors, Doris, Ringrose, Leavy, Deegan.

    Close calls:
Tracy could get on the bench ahead of Cronin.
Bent could bench if Furlong were rested, and Porter could start.
Murphy could get on the bench ahead of Penny.
Hawkshaw/Turner/O'Reilly could bench if Osborne weren't selected, might be too inexperienced for this match, in which case maybe Kelleher to fullback and Larmour to 13.

I'm assuming the other injured players that would be on the fringes of a 23 are:
    Frawley, J O'Brien, C O'Brien, T O'Brien, A Byrne.

    Henshaw is starting.

A 19 year old just out of the sub academy is not starting the final of the pro 14.

Cian Kelleher, Hawkshaw and Turner are injured, I think Frawley might be okay, he went off last week in the last few minutes but wasn't mentioned in our injury update this week.

The amount of minutes Healy, Henshaw, and Keenan played in the 6 Nations would surely rule them out no?

Leinster/IRFU have said the Player Welfare Scheme won't be used here.

Now, that's not to say Leinster won't rest certain players with an eye on europe next week... Which I think they should.

Our non-internationals have been playing really well this season, I think they need to get the balance right, and reward certain individuals...

.. and give Munster a fighting chance.

Based on Squidgy Black's comment, centre is very sparse for players right now, could they start Frawley and O'Loughlin together, Larmour at fullback, Osborne or O'Reilly on the bench perhaps?

Personally I don't think Henshaw should start, he needs to be minded.
    Same as Healy and Sexton.
Possibly Keenan could start or bench alright though, considering he's such a fit guy, he wouldn't have had too many collisions either at fullback.

    I wouldn't know! Around 270km beyond my 5km limit :P

I'm pretty neutral when it comes to the provincial game tbh. Would catch any game I can and would like to see all of them doing well.
